Kenny Miller to be probed by police after being caught up in bar brawl with wife

Recommended Posts

KENNY Miller will be questioned by cops over an Old Firm wine bar brawl.

The Rangers ace, 36, and wife Laura, 27, were caught up in the boozy row on a night out in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, after his team lost 5-1 to Celtic.

A pal said: “They were both badly shaken.”

KENNY Miller rescued wife Laura when she was slapped in the face during a wine bar brawl — after the mum was taunted over his Old Firm drubbing.

She suffered a black eye and scratched face as rivals kicked off at the trendy venue where the Rangers ace arrived to meet her.

Warring factions squared up in a car park when the boozy row spilled outside — hours after Celtic’s 5-1 win over their bitter rivals.

Last night it emerged Laura watched the game with other WAGS before she hooked up with her hubby at Da Luciano in Bothwell, Lanarkshire.

A source said: “When Kenny got there, a drunk woman started goading Laura about the result.

“Laura did her best to ignore it but the woman was relentless.

“Kenny tried to calm things down but Laura had become very upset.

“By this stage, other folk were getting involved so they decided it was best to leave.

“As they were going, the woman slapped Laura in the face.

“All hell then broke loose as things spilled out into the car park.

“Insults were flying and the factions had to be held back.”

The insider added: “There must have been about 20 folk involved — it was absolute chaos.

“Everyone had had a good drink and obviously tensions were running high because of the football.”

The source went on: “Police eventually arrived and spoke to Kenny and Laura but they didn’t make any complaint.

“By then, they just wanted to get up the road.”

Cops took CCTV footage from the bar as part of their probe.

No arrests were made but it is understood Laura lost a pair of expensive earrings during last Saturday’s bust-up.

Officers were due to question the couple at their home in nearby Hamilton yesterday.

The Millers — who have two kids together, Sloane, six, and Blake, three — are not believed to be pursuing assault charges.

Our insider added: “Kenny and Laura go to Da Luciano a lot because they get peace and quiet — but that night it was absolutely mental.

“Now they just want to forget about it all and move on.”

Laura was pictured on the day with Gers captain Lee Wallace’s partner, Stephanie Moffat, 28, and Amy Wilson, who goes out with former Ibrox midfielder Nicky Law.

In selfies posted last Saturday, Laura appeared to be wearing four diamond encrusted earrings.

She told pals on Instagram: “Old Firm and I’m still sober.” In a later tweet with another snap, she wrote: “Last sober pic of the day.”

After the game, Laura said: “Oh well can’t wait to see my boy.”

She later added: “It’s still Saturday tho.”

Laura didn’t post on social media for the next two days. She told Twitter followers she had the “Monday blues” with a snap of her in a top which said “No one cares”.

On Tuesday, she posted a photo of new jewellery and wrote: “My substitute earrings are not very cool.”

The following day she uploaded a picture of her looking glum.

Despite wearing make-up it showed bruising under her eye and a scratch on her head.

She wrote: “Seriously tired tonight. Early night needed.” In 2014, Da Luciano — a favourite haunt of Old Firm — was named best newcomer in the Scottish Entertainment Awards.

A bar spokesman refused to comment last night.

Police said in a statement: “Officers were called to a report of a disturbance at the Da Luciano restaurant in Bothwell at around 9.15pm on Saturday.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”

The incident is the latest fallout from the Parkhead showdown — the Glasgow rivals’ first top-flight encounter in four years. Celtic launched an internal probe after two blow-up sex dolls in Rangers scarves were hung from a stadium upper tier.

Hoops fans taunted the visiting support with a banner which said: “Know your place hun scum.”

Toilet cubicles at the Gers end of the ground were trashed by yobs who also ripped down ceilings during a £100,000 wrecking spree.

Last night Miller and Rangers both declined to comment.

That headline writer should be sacked. Our club, or Club1872, should be on cases like this asking why that headline didn't mention victim, sectarian assault, or any other proper descriptions of the story that followed.

Like a broken down record, I'm going to say again, STOP BUYING SCOTTISH PAPERS, and urge our club again to cease all co-operation with them. The sooner we get the circulations down to critical levels and they go bust, the better.
