We would damage them. They would earn less if we finished above them. Rodgers is right here celtc would eventually be huge in England so would we.

Depends on how you spend the new-found wealth and how your business is rrun.

Newcastle "should" be huge given their significant and loyal following.... but are now also-rans because of the way they are run.

I am afraid there is nothing wrong in using threat in that context. It would mean a threat to beat them on the football park which would cause psychological football pain. It is just the same if a striker is a goal threat. Another saying is we have got to try and hurt them which means in a football sense and not a physical sense.

Hence I placed "a bit of irony" in front of it. Of course the use is perfectly correct, but when it comes to the Hooped Horrors (not the team as such), it carries a different meaning too ;)

Funny thing is that Sunderland are kind of similar in results to size of support and wealth ratio... Middlesburgh also have underperformed in that sense. Is it a North East England thing (Ashley apart)?

The raving of Rodgers on account of a single result that wasn't even a win is absurd. This is the same team beaten by the taxi drivers of Gibraltar and played off the park in Israel where if the Israelis hadn't luckily for Rodgers missed a penalty they wouldn't even be in the Champions league at all. They called their defeat in Gibraltar a one off anomaly and that's exactly what a draw with Man City was too.

The reality will be evident when they go to Manchester and find a Man City nothing like so accommodating defensively and who will score at least another 3 and probably even more. Beaten by taxi drivers; played off the park by Israelis; and after two champions league matches 10 goals conceded? Euro giants? Don't make me laugh any harder than I already am.
