Barrie McKay returned to train with Rangers.

Recommended Posts

Barrie McKay returned from time with Scotland yesterday to train with the Gers after being told he didn’t feature in Gordon Strachan’s plans to face Slovakia.

Meanwhile Lee Wallace travelled to Trnava and Lee Hodson is in the Northern Ireland squad to play Germany.

Speaking to RangersTV Warburton said: “In Barrie’s case he wasn’t involved in the game at the weekend and he was informed, along with two or three other players, that they wouldn’t be involved in Tuesday’s game – it was handled very well.

“Therefore he has come back here and trained very well at the start of this week, there has been good communication and I hope everyone benefits from that.

After that performance on Saturday I thought he might get a start. Maybe with the new manager he might have more of a chance. Strachen's stay will not be much longer.

His performances for us this season have not been at the standard of last year.

That has also to do with Wallace not getting on so many advanced runs plus he lacks confidence to go on the outside and mainly cuts inside.

Seems fair enough,if he is not going to get game time he is better off focussing on Rangers. He needs to get is level of performance back up to what we know he is capable of.

Agreed. Good experience going away with the national side, and hopefully a confidence boost for him. He's well capable of improving that Scotland squad but since he hasn't been on top form for us, it's no surprise he isn't getting a game for Scotland. Warburton seems happy enough with how it has worked.
