[FT] ICT 0 - 1 Rangers (Miller 22)

Recommended Posts

The other side of the coin is its 3 clean sheets in 4 games. The defence was far our most concerning area a few weeks ago but signs of improvement.

Actually 4 clean sheets in 5 if you count the QotS Cup game, and the only negative, the last minute (exceptional Tav type goal) in the SheepDipDome..........

Still dominating games without the finish...Kennys goal from Lees cross excepted. Barrie terribly off form, Waggy has lost his touch, Jasons first touch is missing.

Krancjar: Now fitting in.

Miller: Exemplary.

Halliday: Nailed it again.

Wes: A very sound keeper who oozes confidence.

Keirnan: Fine performance.

Hill:

Wallace: Great attacking full back play once more.

McKay: Lost form.

Holt: Not up to speed.

Waghorn: Same as Holt.

Tav: Defensive duties sound, attacking ability less so.

Subs...Garner Dodoo and Windass: Jury out.

Quick edit: Dodoo looks a player and deserves a start vs Sc*m.

There are a number of positives to be taken from it. First of all we have gone to an away ground and taken 3 points from a side who prior to this match were on a 5 game unbeaten run which included beating one top half side and drawing with the current top two.

Another positive factor though mixed in with a problem factor is that they were comprehensively played off the park in a first half which if it weren't for our misfiring front line we could have been 3-0 up at the break and coasting.

Yet another positive is that the defence will undoubtedly be more solid with Wilson back in it and I would say we still haven't been able to field the strongest possible starting 11. Now we must build on this and though we would all love to win next week I would trade a win for a string of straight league wins to put us right back in contention.

After next week we have two consecutive home league games first against St Johnstone and then Kilmarnock. If we can take full points from that we're back on track but that's going to be a tough run of games. The game against St Johnstone comes just 3 days after the league cup semi with only two rest days in between then the Kilmarnock game is just 3 days after that with again just two rest days in between so we're looking at 3 games inside 7 days.

So that stat about not keeping a clean sheet away from home since Feb is now gone albeit down to poor finishing rather than good defending. Though there were some positive aspects there. Wilson has been coming onto a game lately so should give a bit more stability. Senderos could even come in when fully fit. Anyone but Hill for me though he is a threat at corners.

Speaking of headers, was good to see Tav get his head to the ball more last night. He has a tendency to let the ball bounce rather than get his head on it.

Warburton not talking to BT Sport pre match, Somebody has obviously had a word with Sutton. Apart from going on about Hallidays tackle - which was never a booking and hardly even a foul, he's been praising us.

Sutton will get the point some day ----- .@btsportfootball Good performance from Rangers tonight! Disappointing for Rangers fans not to hear from Mark Warbuton pre and post match⚽️

More to the point, MW is not going to help you get a wage packet.

Over to you BT Sport. He brings nothing to the party anyhow.

Warburton not talking to BT. Rangers and BBC at war. Car crash presser with Sky. What an embarrassing PR full house.

@tedermeatballs I'll give you an embarrassing full house Keith - fabricating stories, being savaged by IPSO & forced to issue an apology.

Something I really like about a Warburton and his squad is that there is a refreshing air of honesty about performances. Waghorn openly telling fans he was disappointed with himself last night.

If you can't accept the obvious failings you will do nothing more than conspire to repeat them instead of eliminate them !
