[FT] Hamilton 1 - 2 Rangers (Waghorn 45, 52)

Expecting the same team that started against Hearts to start tonight also.

Chance that the likes of Hill and Waggy may come in for Wilson and Miller but I doubt it - especially considering the surface in the case of Waghorn.

No matter, if we play with the same tenacity & intensity then three points should be delivered. Accies stuffy though!

Yes they can be stuffy all right. I was at Ibrox back in 1988 when Accies who were lying bottom of the league came to visit in the Scottish cup and left with a 1-0 win after one Adrian Sprott scored against a team containing the likes of Woods, Butcher, Graham Roberts, Cooper, Durrant and McCoist. Threw everything at them in a total siege of their goal but the ball just would not go in the net.

Such games happen ... and I continue to point this out. It is part and parcel of the game, no matter where you play, who is in your team and whom you play. The deviations from the norm. And these names usually haunt you for years, be it (Kevin) McGowne for St. Mirren, or Sprott of the Accis, Keith Houchen and Ivan Sproule of Hibs, or Ian Black of ICT (when they snatched a 93rd min penalty winner at Ibrox with their only shot on goal ... a penalty given away by SDoW). And I for one e.g. rank that goal Aberdeen got against us at their pit in there too.

Waghorn is injury prone on artificial pitches so he may not get a game.

Our players have set a standard in the last two matches, there is no reason for them not to take that level into all matches and if they maintain that hard working physical aspect then we will be very difficult to beat, in fact it will prove to be very successful

Hamilton Academical captain Michael Devlin and fellow defender Danny Seaborne are injury doubts for Friday's Premiership meeting with Rangers.

Goalkeeper Remi Matthews and outfield trio Gramoz Kurtaj, Jesus Garcia Tena and Craig Watson remain out for Accies.

Rangers defender Clint Hill is available again after suspension.

But midfielders Niko Kranjcar, Jordan Rossiter and Josh Windass are still missing for Mark Warburton's side, who are second in the league.

Statistics

Hamilton have taken only one point from their past 10 league games against Rangers, but that came in August on the opening day of the season.

Rangers have conceded only twice in their past five trips to Hamilton.

Accies are on the longest current winless run in the Premiership this season - seven games - and have drawn eight of their past 11 matches.

Only leaders Celtic, with seven, have picked up more clean sheets than Rangers, who have six, in the top flight this season.

Rangers will narrow the gap to Celtic to eight points with a victory.

Accies will jump from eighth to sixth should they win.

Quotes

Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning: "We learned on Tuesday [in the 1-0 defeat at Celtic] that the boys are capable of raising their game and concentrating for 90 minutes at a difficult venue. This is going to be similar.

"Albeit it is a home game, it is still a huge club coming here and we have to make sure we are competing and concentrating from minute one and put in the energy we are doing and hopefully we can take something from the game."

Rangers manager Mark Warburton: "The boys are professionals, they are winners. They want to do well.

"Questions were asked of them after we lost at Hearts last month and quite rightly because we all had a poor day at the office.

"But they responded really well with two big performances at home in front of sell-out crowds [beating Aberdeen then Hearts].

"Now, though, we have to replicate that level of performance on Friday night."
