Rangers target Jon Toral jets in to Glasgow to complete six-month loan deal with Ibrox club

Arsenal midfielder set to seal switch to Glasgow after ending loan spell with Spanish side Granada.

Jon Toral will arrive in Glasgow this evening to put pen to paper on a six month deal at Rangers .

Record Sport understands the 21-year-old will fly in from Malaga in the next few hours after an agreement was reached to terminate his season long loan with Spanish minnows Granada.

The La Liga strugglers announced earlier today that Toral will be returning to Arsenal after his parent club activated an early release clause in the agreement.

But, in fact, Toral headed straight to the airport to catch the next available flight to Scotland after Mark Warburton and Arsene Wenger agreed that the next stage of the player’s development will be best served with a short stint at Ibrox.

Jon Toral

Following on from an encouraging loan spell with Brentford during the 2014/15 season, attacking playmaker Jon spent last campaign with Birmingham City - and made an instant impact, scoring twice in his first two games.

The skilful midfielder soon established himself as a first-team regular, adding six more goals to his haul after 38 appearances. At the end of the season Jon was named Supporters' Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season and won the Goal of the Season award for an exceptional volley against Ipswich Town.

Jon (full name Jon Miquel Toral Harper) arrived from the Barcelona academy at the same time as Hector Bellerin. An exceptional dribbler, Jon has an English mother, and can play wide or in the number 10 position.

Not sure whether there is anything in Spanish out there, but no-one really seems to know how long his contract with Arsenal will last.

Would like to see our midfielders be capable of that.

WOW. Let's hope MW plays him in CMF and not wide right cutting in.

However, the worrying question would be if he is so good how come he has only played 6 games of football this season and most of the rest of the time not even been in the squad or got off the bench.

It's not as if Granada (19th in la liga) are exactly setting the Spanish heather on fire.
