Ruth Gilfillan was booted down three ranks over Rangers 'banter' claim

Recommended Posts

The tragic thing is that if it was not said in humour they could have done nothing. There is evidence to support the claim. By the looks of it, she was stitched up by the usual “religious sect mafia” for daring to poke fun at their religions crimes.

We don’t know actually what she said, but it looks like pc(no pun intended) madness. It only takes one to complain and it opens the gates, bet the complainant was not the only RC in attendance.

So what? If I believe in something, I can accept criticism of it.

If you can't accept criticism of things you believe in then you should take a long, hard look at yourself. Roman Catholicism is a repulsive paedophile ring that hoards wealth. Criticism is essential in a progressive society.

She made a joke about child abuse which is in my eyes is not on for a senior police officer while on duty in a mixed company. The penalty may be harsh and extremely over the top but she certainly deserved a reprimand and a verbal warning. I don't see why we are making Rangers out to be a victim here. She made a serious error of judgement and therefore could expect some sort of comeback if her bosses got to hear about it.

I didn't take it personally. But I am concerned that British culture is taking a wimpy turn where people are sacked for making a joke.

I agree that things are getting more difficult as to what you can or can't say but there are jobs that have always had a certain amount of responsibility on behaviour and a senior Police officer falls into that category.
