Investigation launched after five police officers are assaulted at Rangers v Feyenoord

SEVERAL police officers were assaulted during Rangers v Feyenoord Europa League match at Ibrox Stadium last night.

Police Scotland confirmed they were investigating five assaults on officers after trouble flared during half-time. Fans in the away section of the stadium clashed with officers and at least two supporters were removed. 

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "An investigation is under way after five incidents of police assault within the west stand of Ibrox stadium during the Rangers v Feyenoord match on September 19.

"Anyone with information or images of the incidents is asked to contact Police Scotland."

We reported yesterday that a Feyenoord fan was arrested after setting off a flare in George Square.

Hundreds of fans for the Dutch club descended in Glasgow's city centre.
