the goals comparison is too simplistic though - teams line up against us in a much, much more defensive fashion than they do Livingston.  Morelos is considered out main threat and double teamed constantly - Dykes might be Livvy's main threat too but teams would have a go at Livingston far more frequently than they do us.  Would Dykes have more space in the final third playing for Rangers or Livvy - I think we all know the answer to that.

That doesn't mean I don't think he would be a good signing - just offering balance to the goals comparison.

That is more than outweighed by the fact that a Rangers striker gets far more good more chances to score from than a Livingston striker.

Dykes wouldn’t score anywhere near the number of goals as Morelos.

I want Friday's Euromillion numbers too, please. ?

We sidenote, Lyndan Dykes has 12 goals and 11 assists to his name in 33 games for ... Livingston.

Not necessarily - we have had plenty of strikers in the past who fit the same, or similar, criteria to Dykes - and the reality when they come to Rangers is markedly different.

Many more score more goals when they move to a better club. Of course there are all sorts of variables but that is certainly the norm.

The problem for most strikers will be the utterly defensive attitude of many "lesser" teams, who usually build a Scottenaccio from front to backline, with a maximum of 4 players trying to hit on the counter while the rest digs in. You need a certain type of striker that can live with that, either by being similarly physical or having the technical ability to get through those 2 or 3 players that look after him all game. Add to that the "physical approach" of Scottish referees that favours the defenders and you see why many strikers who have good careers elsewhere don't click here. What bothers me most is that ever since Warburton, we simply don't adopt a certain line of approaching these dug-in teams, but essentially go 4-3-3 time and again and hope for something special. Even when it quickly becomes clear that we don't have the players for that role/tactic.

You would hope that no matter whom we sign, we change tactic, personell and shpae depending on the game at hand, not trying to make Plan A better.

Won't get much game time and presumably a replacement for Wes/Jak Alnwick - but that's ok too.

We have McGregor, McLaughlin, Firth and McCrorie.  Probably not a huge salary (less than Wes anyway) which is a good thing.

I thought we were in for the St Mirren keeper
