To me that is a serious oversight. If we are short of home-grown, why leave out Patterson, who would cover for Tav if necessary?

Homegrown players such as Patterson can be added 24 hours before a game so he isnt really left out.

Jones left out for Barker is a strange one. I don’t know why the management rate him so highly.

To be fair to him he has done much better of late.  Definitely seems to be a confidence player.  He offers something a little "different" to Jones, so I can see why they went with him.  Wouldnt have been overly bothered with either.

While I'm surprised Jones has been left out, I think Barker is just more versatile and provides a better press.

Yes I like Defoe. I think it is a sign that Roofe isn’t far off because that would leave Defoe 4th choice in that position. I still think Defoe would play better than Morelos in many games if he was given the chance, he is much better at taking the ball to feet and linking up with the midfield.
