There seems to be a determination to keep this incident in the public eye and a few minutes on the national News At Ten certainly helped that. I wonder what the next step is if UEFA's reaction isn't to the club's liking.

They take a knee, we watch them taking a knee, and everyone feels suitable satisfied they've made a contribution and the world is a better place for it. The predictable outcome of course is that the racism of a tiny minority continues apace because ... wait for it ... people who racially abuse others really don't give a stuff about some rich guys taking a knee on TV. The entire idea was a PR exercise to cover up a problem no one is prepared or able to address. All it has done is present racists with a renewed sense of focus.

That was a tough interview to watch and well done GK for doing the interviewing and further highlighting the racial abuse he suffers daily. 

 

I notice that Swansea City are boycotting social media for 1 week due to the racial abuse suffered by three of their players. Would be good if all football clubs followed their example and all urged social media to ensure any abuse is acted on and the abusers identified, banned and reported to the authorities

 

Edit - just heard Rangers players and management team are boycotting social media from 7PM this evening

A week long boycott.  Surely staying offline during the cup game against Separate Entity FC would be far more impactful.

Another incredibly well-intentioned and utterly pointless gesture. It will certainly bolster the self-image of those taking part but it's beyond belief it will have any impact on those who perpetrate racist abuse.  If we've learned anything it's that all the BLM hysteria, with thousands marching through our cities, and endless televised knee-taking has done nothing to eliminate racism - either on the football pitch or in the hidden cesspit of social media.

 

Until and unless the social media platforms can restrict membership to personal rather than anonymous accounts and instantly ban those posting racist abuse, no amount of warm and supportive gestures will change anything.

it's not targeting the abusers it's targeting the owners of the sites who should target the abusers. Only they as you say can stop this. What we can do is stop driving traffic to their sites.
