Dave King Q&A - Part 2

Dear Contributor,

On Monday 21st November 2022, we held a Q&A with former Rangers Chairman, Dave King. As promised the event was recorded for Contributors.

Mr King answered questions from Contributors in attendance and also from those who submitted questions via email. He spoke for just over an hour and covered a large number of topics.

The second part of the video is now available to view. In this part, Dave King discusses his thoughts on how he will vote on the resolutions at the upcoming Rangers AGM, his concern over the lack of investment in the team and communication around that, his thoughts on recent interest in the club from American investor Kyle Fox and how he believes the Rangers Board should move forward.

We have had some sound issues on the video which were a combination of the way the sound was captured and also the Zoom link to South Africa breaking up. We apologise for this and have added subtitles to Part 2 of the Q&A to assist viewers. Please turn subtitles on if they do not show automatically from the start.

We are working on the subtitles and the sound on the third and final part of the video where the call broke up most, and hope to have that with Contributors in the coming days.

Just watched and that was a bizarre q&a in my view. 
 

King queries where all the money has gone yet clearly has access to the annual report the same as the rest of us.  
 

he complains the board are going in a different direction by not investing in the way he would, yet seems to have completely forgotten that one of the things this board has done is pay back the loans from king.  
 

we heard a question from Craig Houston too, though no mention was made of his job with c1872, so presumably he was there in a personal capacity.  His questions focused on the board and whether others still there might share some of his views.  DK responded but Houston clearly holds contempt for the board, something he is entitled to of course, but how on earth that squares with his role at c1872 and presumably trying to work productively with the club?

 

There were other things that occurred but I just had to get that off my chest immediately.  My last remaining token contributions and therefore membership of c1872 is likely now to be cancelled.

The truth is it would be better for Rangers and the vast majority of supporters if Club1872 stopped its embarrassing vendetta and went somewhere very far away where we never had to hear from it again.

I read that Houston receives a salary from C1872. He was previously employed by the club, I believe, presumably under King's watch, so perhaps he's bitter about losing his job?

 

Not 100% sure about my facts on this, but it's just what I've read online.

 

It does appear that C1872 value their relationship with King higher than their relationship with the club.

Didn't Club1872 advertise the role the Houston got? Sure saw this somewhere?

He definatly works for club 1872 full time in well paid role.

You are correct.  C1872 made an announcement on it and yes he did work at the Club at King's behest alongside another person who is in the shadows at C1872 - Chris Graham

 

I've no idea of the jobs they do, in all honesty.  And i've no axe to grind against them personally, but this whole thing has lost any credibility.

 

I haven't wanted to say this and have held out as long as I could, but I think C1872 needs to die.  No idea what that would mean for all the shares they are responsible for, but they only have themselves to blame.

The propensity of the average Joe for self-delusion has long been a fascination. The notion that the Catholic Church is a force for good, or that socialism is a pursuit of equality, or that the SNP is driven by Scotland's best interests, or that Net Zero is about saving the planet, or that Club1872 exists to serve the interests of Rangers. None of this is true of course but you'll find no shortage of people who think some or all of it is. 

 

How must it feel, as it dawns on its members that Club1872 has had its hands in their pockets for years, to absolutely no effect other than the gratification of a small group of shysters? It's never nice to be scammed. Club1872 has to be one of the best acts of mass deception I've come across .... a true example of nothing-for-something. But in true self-deluding fashion, I'll bet there are still plenty who will continue to hand over their money rather than admit their mistake.

Aye he was employed by the club. Not sure of the position, he was seen handing out tickets for euro away games. Also seen escorting players out after games, security?
