Not so much an asset to duck out of your obligation to your employer.

It is, however, the sign of the modern player.  It is exactly how they pretty much all operate these days.  Can't live in the past.  We may dislike it, but it has become the norm.

It is, IMHO, nothing to do with what you say above.  If he was in their squad and played he couldnt sign for us in this window - he was, rather thank shirking responsibility, ensuring that he couldnt be forced into preventing him having any options in this window.

 

Stuart McCall once refused to play for England because he wanted to play for Scotland... worked out well enough for Scotland IMHO....

Not strictly true.  The Raskin stand off is with the Board, not Deila.  Deila wants to play him as he considers him a massive asset - the Board have dictated to Deila that he can't select him

Yes, except nobody else plays that slot anymore either.  Beale wants Barisic getting higher up the pitch to become the "winger" on that side - so nobody is playing LW, as it merely brings more bodies into the space he wants Barisic occupying
