The points are simple;

 

1/ With the demands you make for a Rangers team./ manager to be successful; domestic trebles and later participation in Europe, how many successful teams and managers have we had in our history?

 

2/ To be dominant domestically, we may have to sacrifice what you deem to be European success and vice versa.

There is using your criteria - you've set the demands required to be successful, so by those standards, how many have there been?

I can't really remember too well how well we did in Europe, but:

 

Gerrard, McLeish, Dick, Walter. 

 

Domestic titles; decent runs in Europe. 

 

They're successful until they aren't. I probably would've sacked them all sooner than they were.

How was Gerrard successful using your criteria - one domestic trophy. Surely Gio was as successful? Scottish Cup and final of EL?

No league for GvB - and I've always said he just built on what Gerrard put in place. 

 

Gerrard was consistently good in Europe. Domestically sub-par. Overall a success. I did want him sacked at the end, though.

That is to say you only want a high coefficient because it helps you to play at a higher level.
