Europa League Draw: Real Betis, Sparta Prague and Aris Limassol | Fixtures Announced

We need to get on the horse quickly ahead of a massive game on Sunday.

 

Before that, however, there is the small matter of the Europa League Group Draw tomorrow. Europa Play-offs tonights to determine the final entrants and seeds.

 

Currently we're sitting in Pot 2. However, if Sparta Prague (coef lower than us) overturn a 3-1 first leg deficit to Zagreb, we'll climb into Pot 1. Or if Ajax through away a first leg 4-1 advantage in their game. Both unlikely though.

For what it's worth, regarding our coefficient and potential qualification for the FIFA World Club Cup (I know); last year the teams we knocked out in CL qualification (PSV and USG) went on to rack up decent scores (11 and 19 respectively, compared to our 4).

 

Even if we don't do as well as in previous years, being in the Europa League is almost certainly going to be better for our ranking.

In theory you're correct, but can you really see us doing well against these sides?

I am quite negative at the moment, but I do enjoy European draws. It's always quite exciting. 

 

I'd like to face Leverkusen and Brighton, to show us how teams should play football. We'll get pumped, but you'll enjoy it! 👀 

 

Xabi Alonso has Leverkusen playing some superb stuff.

 

De Zerbi is De Zerbi - I've been a fan since his Foggia days. I always think, surely we could have easily tempted De Zerbi from Foggia, or after his failure in Palermo? *Sigh*

I'm dreading getting Liverpool again. There's a few other sides in there that could also give us a hiding.

Exactly, that's the big question. On paper, whatever the draw, it looks tough. In reality (and because we look a shambles back to front), it will be be even tougher.

I think Pot 1 is a write off, even Zagreb. 

As for Pots 3, and 4, there are some teams in there who would definitely fancy their chances.......
