I wanted to ask the forum what you think is more conducive to winning the title from where we are at present, a tight defence or free scoring attack? Or is it a bit of both?

Just some rudimentary stats for Overall/Home/Away

xG For / Match 2.20 2.24 2.13
xG Against / Match 0.91 0.98 0.79
Scored / Match 1.9 2 1.75
Conceded / Match 0.6 0.83 0.25
AVG (Match Goals Average) 2.5 2.83 2
Clean Sheets % 60% 50% 75%
Failed to Score % 20% 17% 25%

How does that compare to what you've seen this season?

Personally I think we score less chances than we should but defend pretty well as a unit this season, IF we can start finishing our dinner then we might have a chance..especially with how Clement has us doing in the metrics (it's early I know).

Let me know what you think; like I said earlier on a different thread, I wanted us to cut out at least a third of our goals conceded number from last season this season or hit sub 20 and we're tracking in and around that which makes me think we've got a glimmer of a chance.

Cheers.

Historically, all successful teams were built from the back and a strong spine. Even the most attacking teams require a strong defence.

Fans probably like attacking play / goals and would prefer to win 5-4 than 1-0.

For us currently, I think we need to be hard to beat which means defence is more important.

However, once our injuries clear up (if that ever happens) we'll have good options and should score plenty of goals.
