Club appeal Cifuentes red card

Rangers have lodged an appeal against Jose Cifuentes' red card in Saturday's 3-1 win over Dundee.

The midfielder was initially booked for a challenge on Amadou Bakayoko but VAR upgraded the yellow to a red card.

As things stand, the Ecuadorian would be suspended for Sunday's Viaplay Cup final against Aberdeen, with violent conduct dismissals affecting the next domestic game.

A fast-track tribunal has been arranged by the Scottish FA for Tuesday.

Cifuentes is available for Thursday's Europa League match against Real Betis.

The ref saw the challange and thought it warrented a yellow which was correct decision.

There was no extreme force or stamping involved in the challange therefore only right that club would appeal and it should be returned back to a yellow card.

When compared to Taylors tackle against Motherwell that was deemed a yellow even when reviewed by VAR then Cifuentes wasn't even worthy of any card.
