Who should be the new manager?

Someone like... Barry?

Like I said, I would like to have someone in there (somewhere) with an understanding of what Rangers is all about, what the club as such expects, what the support expects. Barry, e.g. would be exactly that sort of person.

If it is Ancelotti Jr then it may go down the same road as Gio and Clement where we are good in Europe but not the strongest domestically. He is likely to know the Continental game well and play that type of football but have no clue about high punting, rough tackling trips away to Kilmarnock and the likes.

There has always been a view someone who supports and knows the club or league should be involved. But getting the right man to do this is not easy and it doesnt always have to be a Scot.  I didnt / havent seen much from Alex Rae or currently Ferguson, Dodds, McCann or McGregor. Perhaps someone like Amoruso would fit the bill.

I hate to bring him up in this debate but Ange disproved the notion that a manager must be attached to the team prior to being appointed. He succeeded through good recruitment and a clear playing style that showed little respect for the teams in the SPL. I get the trepidation of an anattached manager due to our last experience but Clement was way too stubborn whilst operating with 1 hand tied behind his back. Alternatively, you could also say Gio and Beale knew what they dealing with due to their prior Scottish football experiences and look how that turned out.

I really wished we had gone with Muscat when we had the chance. Oh well...

Agree 100%, this notion that manager needs to understand playing killie on a wet wednesday night is bollocks too, play football, beat cluggers, it's really not hard. Granted it was only one season, but Gerrard showed how it's done, no one got near us that season mainly because we knew how to keep the ball, suck teams out, and punish them.
