my contact has told me huth has had a dodgy knee for years and that was part of the reason why chelsea were so keen to flog him at 21 years old for 5.5m.

apparantly mourinho knew about it but wanted to repay the club by selling him off for a cute price!

however, it has been speculated that it is currently a problem with his ankle that has caused this problem.

whatever, he`s only ever made 32 starts in 5 years and maybe now we know why!!

The proposed move of Robert Huth to Middlesbrough appears to have stalled due to a medical problem

After both camps announced that a problem had been encountered yesterday it took a while for the exact nature of the problem to come to light. It transpires that the £5 million transfer is in danger due to an ankle injury. It's suspected that this is the same injury that Robert picked up whilst warming up for the World Cup third and fourth place play-off match against Portugal less than a week ago. On that occasion the injury prevented Robert from taking his place in the Germany starting eleven.

The move to Middlesbrough has been an open secret for the last few weeks with the deal tied up whilst Robert was with the German squad preparing for their assault on the greatest prize in football. Despite the problem, it is hoped that a solution can be found. Middlesbrough are apparently reluctant to commit to a high priced transfer deal whilst doubts remain about the long term fitness of the young defender.

However, if the deal collapses completely, there is a distinct possibility that several other Premiership teams could be prepared to take a gamble on the German international who, despite us previously hinting otherwise, wants to remain in English football.

Ankle not knee but wonder when and if we'll hear the full extent of the injury...
