Guest The Advocate Posted January 26, 2009 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Has SDM been busy purchasing land around the stadium over the past few years for his far-fetched "Minty Carlo Casino" plans - which seemed doomed from the start (rather obvious to the layman but we bow to his business acumen on these issues, he tells us so often). Was it ever really a goer financial climate aside ? Or would we have got another "Bar 72" in the Copland and maybe Broomy as our upgrade. Were still waiting on the Giant TV's to be properly fixed despite being told in August there would be new screens being put in. I wonder if he'll purchase it through PPG Property in the meantime and hold it until a later date for development or as part of the sale of RFC whenever it does happen ? Would be a potential asset for him to hold up his sleeve one would suspect if any potential sale is forthcoming. calscot 0 Posted January 27, 2009 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Wouldn't the credit crunch be the perfect time to do some Grand Design at Ibrox? Surely SDM has a load of building companies not doing too much and when you think about it we're a guaranteed customer. It would surely ease his cash-flow, keep his income at a reasonable level, act as a stop gap and possibly provide a showcase for when things pick up again. Getting the credit might not be easy but using his metal companies as guarantors should secure the necessary funds. Obviously it's not the right time for bringing in big retail partners or housing projects but that could be ripe for a second phase for when we pull out of the recession. If the money spent is reasonable to increase the stadium size to 60,000 - say �£40M, then the possible �£5M a year in increased ticket sales could pay this off in 20 years while adding a welcome �£2M a year to our income. 0 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
