Its a shame Weir hasn't moved up here as I'd like to see him offered some sort of coaching role (assuming he wants to go in to coaching) at the club when he finally retires. He's been a model pro throughout his career and his advice to young players both on and off the pitch would be invaluable. He's been the cornerstone of our team since he arrived and I hope he gets a proper send-off from us.

I like the shirt, but not the collar. Some of the mock-ups we saw were much better imo.
-
So, I know something like this was rumoured last week, but wtf is going on? From the Daily R*ecord.
-
If there really was a great conspiracy against them, why was Edu's first half goal disallowed? Its like all great conspiracy theories, the people spreading them ignore many of the facts and only concentrate on things which support their argument.
-
It looked like Lafferty thought about feigning a head-knock then changed his mind for some reason. Should have been a booking for both imo. Bougherra was lucky to still be on by the end. I think they were unlucky not to get a pen, but its not clear even from the replay if Bougherra caught him or he tripped himself up. Either way, if the ref was unsure, he's hardly going to give it after the shit storm Celtic whipped up. Challenge on Boyd could have been a straight red, but there won't be any mention of that one tomorrow.

Well there's a shock. Did the Sun newspaper not print a picture this week of his car with the number plate visible for all to see?
-
To be fair, I bet any club's fans could do the same and list a number of incidents across a season which have cost them points. The Celtic stuff is hilarious though, why are they concentrating on the games against us for starters and as for the Keane being too fast thing, that's just incredible. Mik.

I wonder if someone somewhere is putting together a similar compilation of dodgy decisions that have gone their way over the last few years.
-
Peat's comments are interesting though. So, is that not him admitting that Celtic are trying to influence referees/bring the game in to disrepute? Will they be charged? And private discussions between the SFA and Celtic. Why?

I was speechless when I saw this on the news last night. Absolutely unbelievable.

The SPL board are such a dynamic bunch of go-getters.... They seem to have such double standards when it suits them, strict entry criteria for potential clubs coming up, but once there, they turn a blind eye to a lot of the stuff that goes on. I also see that in a lot of the newspaper reports from Motherwell they'll often criticise the pitch but point out that "its the same for both sets of players". Which somewhat misses the point that one set of players plays on it every second week at least. Mike.

If it was as bad as some reports say, then there's no way he'd get medical clearance to play at the weekend. But there's been lots of contradicting stories as per usual, so we're all in the dark. Main thing is he's ok.
-
I think we should really go for it from the off this weekend, especially given how frail their defence has been looking. If we do, then go with your 2nd team Zappa. But maybe WS will play it more cautious and see the priority as not being beaten, in which case your first team might be a better option.

I think it is part of the issue, how stupid is he? He's 28 and still seems to be his own worst enemy. How on earth is that saying he's the accused? Maybe I'm accusing him of being naive, but that's about the size of it. No-one knows what happened, I'm guessing its either related to something in his personal life, the fact he plays for Rangers or it was just one of those things that can happen to anyone while on a night out, or a combination of these. Mike.
-
Did he not think that with everything going on just now, he'd be better off keeping a low profile? Or maybe make sure he's got company or even a minder/driver if he does go out? Mike.
-
I see they're at it again, this time because his car was spotted parked in a disabled bay.
-
I can't believe Monkeyheid is blaming injuries and suspensions for their run of poor form, has he seen our problems this season? Had to laugh when he reckons if they had first-choice defenders available they could have been "unbeatable". Mike.
-
I'd have thought strikers are the one place we don't need to be looking at until we move one or two on. Boyd, Miller, Novo, Lafferty & Fleck can all play up front. Unless we can engineer some sort of swap deal for Lafferty obviously. Mike.

Douglas Park - Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It
ascender replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
They're in the Premiership though. Simple as that. There's vast sums of money in the game down there. We're in this situation because we play in the SPL. We'd be a bargain on the open market if we were playing in England and would have been snapped up some time ago.- 49 replies

Personally, this is the first time I've seen his name mentioned anywhere in connection with buying the club, either online or offline. What have I missed? Mike.- 49 replies

I think that's the key thing, during all of this restructuring/down-sizing, whatever you want to call it, we need to be able to be in the position where qualification for CL is only regarded as a "bonus" in terms of the financial injection it gives us. I can also see fans of other clubs loving the potential of further cutbacks for us or Celtic while missing the point, that if other clubs had been doing better in Europe in the first place, we'd not be losing the place.
-
I'm guessing CL includes TV money too. So the second six months won't have that, but will have season ticket income and I"m assuming further evidence of any cost-reducing/controlling measures put in place this year?
-
Personally speaking, its just getting boring as f***. And no, I don't have to read it, but loads of threads are getting derailed because of it which is a shame. Mike.

Was it Miller on McCulloch earlier on? Could have been a straight red, but I think the ref missed it. I thought Thomson was lucky, when he was on the floor and put a leg out to catch the Hibs player who was going past him. I winced and thought it was going to be a straight red tbh.
