Think it was just a stretched bit of play with a bit of end to end from both sides, seems to have settled down now.
-
Morelos with a rasping 25 yarder, keeper parries, and Morelos fluffs the easy putaway that would have given us the lead.
-
Wilson about to come on, probably for Alves given his lack of pre-season so far. Oh Dear! And Morelos about to come on as well, for Herrera
-
Miller gets away with one foul and immediately bundles over another to give a FK away in a dangerous position. Added to BJ's comment above, time for the first sub methinks!
-
HT on RTV and they show highlights from a pre-season friendly from 2008 against Clyde at broadwood with Laudrup Albertz and Numan lining up for clyde. JCD missing a few howlers brought back some memories!
-
Candeias should have squared that to the wide open Herrera

This was after spending the last hour trying to get a stream elsewhere, including signing up for a bet365 account and betting a fiver on over 2.5 goals to enable me to watch the live streaming only to find out our game isnt on bet365 today (despite their advertising to get me to sign up!), signing up to some random streaming service, which again didnt work and I wasnt giving them my credit card for a free stream, and searching for a few other links as well. Dont know how you guys that dont go to games survive this every week!

Rangers tv update - I have now got logged in, newly subscribed, and can now watch the game!!!!
-
Glad to hear it because if he looked worse than the Progres games, I would be VERY worried indeed about him!
-
Ok, I remember him, Dimitri Payet i'm guessing, like him, he's a very good player when he can be bothered.
-
Nope, never hear of any of them. I think BT show some French league stuff, but it is not something I would watch generally.
-
Spot on mate, its not anywhere near good enough. I was quite happy to sign up for the subscription service, which I will probably hardly ever use and will keep paying them the fiver a month anyway, just to have this game on in the background at work today.
-
I have heard of Evra (assuming its the ex-Man U full back) but none of the others. Now when we played them in '92 you knew every one of their players as they were all top class. French league footy isnt all that is it? They did finish 33 points behind monaco in 5th last year did they not?

I think Candeias is a wide player from what I seem against Progres (not a very good one, but a wide player nonetheless!) but none of the other are so either we are shoe-horning a player into a wide position that isnt his natural position, or we are a bit lop-sided. Either way we look a bit narrow, although that is perhaps the tactics against a better side than us to deny them space to work in. As you say it looks like it has to be Miller as part of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1 which he is useless at (like most things). I somehow hope he is playing 4-4-2 with Miller and Herrera as a twin strike force with Jack holding, Nico further forward and Dorrans/Candeias covering the wider positions when they have to. (akin to the old diamond midfield perhaps?) Whatever way we line up, we are yet again not playing players in the positions that they are used to or are best at.

Team news is out; Fod Tav Alves Cordoso Wallace Candeias Jack Dorrans Nico Miller Herrera Subs: Alnwick, Holt, Hodson Wilson Windass Pena Morelos Waghorn Dalcio No idea how that is going to shape up formation wise? Any ideas guys?

I dont go to friendlies anymore so I am in work instead but was going to buy it on RTV to keep an eye on it while I am working. Sadly the Rangers website has crashed and I now cant get on to subscribe to RTV. Hope it comes back up before kick off or there is going to be a lot of angry subscribers!

Yes please Warbs, £3M and he is yours, and I will have to apologise to Frankie who has always claimed he will go for £3M, while I think he is worth about 3 bob! No better than average for me, and to my recollection has NEVER made an excellent save while the game is in the balance. All his great saves come at 3-0 up or 3-0 down (i.e. when pressure is off). Sadly as the story is in the gutter press, I dont believe a word of it.

Rangers v St Johnstone friendly - 3pm today
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
While I am convinced Pedro is a dud and will be a total liability until moving on before Xmas, the result of a closed door bounce game doesn't bother me one iota. It's about getting match fitness towards the first league game, nothing else matters. -
It's never that simple in football. McKay wanted to sign a new contract, but not on terms much less than other players who were not as good, and in some cases not even in the team regularly. If you genuinely believe Walker is a better player than McKay your are in a very small minority. Walker may well just want a pay rise and not care a jot about If that's at Rangers or elsewhere.

I disagree on McKay, I think he is the one player who was in our squad that was capable of producing something last season. Granted it didnt happen often enough, but that happens with 21yo wingers whose best days are most certainly ahead of him. I think it was hard for him to focus when so many assists he set up were missed, or when he was ready to put the ball into a scoring area, nobody was there. This happened dozens of times last season under 3 different managers. I thought McKay last season was like watching Lewis McLeod in his final season with us, he was the only player on the park who was going to entertain you on any given matchday, and looked head and shoulders above the other players. Another we sold for nowhere near his value (value at the time, injuries have of course changed that since). I would say Walker has shown nothing to indicate he MAY be good enough FOR US. Of course if he comes in, I wish him all the best and will give him my full support, but I dont think I am going to see a better player than the one we let go, even though we paid more for him, and he will be on a lot more wages than McKay was offered to stay. If he signs, and he makes me forget about McKay, I will be a very happy bear indeed!
