The "water-carrier" role is always going to be best when unnoticed and he is doing just fine. He breaks up a decent amount, and ensures we keep possession. Job done. I certainly didnt notice too many forward passes yesterday from him, but I dont recall him ever giving the ball away. Job done. I dont see much to get excited about, certainly wouldnt call it first class or our best player to date, but I certainly am not criticising his efforts to date either. Good solid pro.

Dont think we will be doing that. i'm sure I read somewhere Pedro thinks the players need a break so they are having a few days off this week. -

The evidence from alst season is he was just hitting his strides when he got injured. On that basis we must persevere with giving him an hour here and there to see if he can recapture his form. On his day he is our only creative midfield talent and if we dont play him we have no creative midfield talent, so the choice is a bleak but easy one. -

Miller used to do exactly this sort of thing all the time, he had blocked a number of keeper kickouts and forced poor clearances on many occasions as well. Of course this was in his first two stints at the club and not this time around when he has been a mere shadow of the player he was. -
Agree with most comments here and Tav has improved his defensive work significantly over the last 6 months or so. I haven't been at all impressed with Cardoso so far, looks just as vulnerable as Kiernan but has a much better partner which has helped him. Alves has to go out to the cross as Wallace was too far upfield when Niko got fouled, so Cardoso has to be touch-tight with the only striker, but was a few yards off him. Interesting to read FS's view as sometimes the sightlines at the game are so much better than any camera angle, and if he says he had a great view and Tav had him then lost him this may be the main cause for the free header but for me it is the CH's job to make sure he takes control of the situation and marks the striker, letting the FB do the mopping up. What is certain is that between them the striker should have been nullified or at least put him under pressure. We lose far too many goals like this.

Morelos & Herrera are the two main signings this summer in forward positions. We need to see this partnership for a few games to see if they can play together, which I think they can. With Hardie as first replacement on the bench and for injuries/suspensions. We need to get over this Miller fascination as he is completely finished, no matter how nice a guy he is to have around the squad.

Exactly what I was thinking. He has done fine so far but is no Stuart McColl, who done the same work as Jack on the negative side of the game, but always looked to pass it forward whereas Jack just looks to pass it square/back. This is an improvement on the last few seasons where we (Halliday/Black/Law etc) would give possession away far too often but I am not overly excited by Jack to date. He's doing fine. If he could lift his head and find some more forward passes or look to carry the ball forward himself when the occasion allows then he would be a far more valuable player for us.

It was certainly noticable in the second half when Ross County became far more aggressive themselves that we didnt just roll over and take it, we got in about them and matched the physical challenge. The difference from the same fixture last season was very obvious and pleasing to see.

Foderingham 7 solid and started coming for crosses Tavernier 7 worked the flank well Cardoso 6 should have been marking the scorer Alves 7 cruised through Wallace 6 was too far forward for their goal Jack 6 tidy Dorrans 6 quiet game Kranjcar 6 quality is there but legs are not Candeais 6 good link ups with tav, improving Miller 3 another poor performance, rightly first hooked. Morelos 8 star man, great header, great awareness for 2nd Subs Herrera 6 works hard and got a goal Pena 6 some tidy touches, needs more gametime Rossiter 5 bolstered midfield for last 10 mins

I think we are being a bit unfair on Niko. This was his first league start in 10 months and we seen even last season it took him quite a few games before we could see his quality come through. Add in a lot of new players, new system etc. When the player has an undoubted quality and pedigree, it must be worth showing more patience. It is different from other players who have never been a success at a high level. You know the quality is there, we just have to find the best way of getting the most out of him, and keeping him fit. -

One thing I noticed that has changed is big Wes now coming for crosses. I thought he chose the right ones to come for and did well, only dropping one and he was fouled at that one. Will make a big difference if he can dominate his box aerially. -

Agreed with your comments on both Pena & Niko, was def a foul on him but McL,S&B could only revel in slagging him instead of watching the replay to see the foul. Really disgusting derogatory remarks about a class player making his 1st league start in 10 months. Trio of pricks that ruin the coverage. -

Will we ever see a 90 min performance again? Really poor second half where we lost shape and composure and allowed a poor side back into it. In saying that, when the game got scrappy & niggly we were up for the fight and stood our ground. We may not have won that match last year but we found a way to grind it out as you have to do sometimes, and capped it off with a good goal at the death. The pain in the voice of McLean, Sutton & Butcher at our 3rd was the only time they were worth listening to all day. Well I say that but I'm guessing as I had them on mute mostly. -

Disagree on the penalty, that was as perfectly timed a tackle as you will ever see, credit to the guy as a split second later and it's a pen and he's off. Blatant red card for the elbow smash, typical Thomson downgrading it to a yellow against us. Alves would have walked for same challenge. First 20-25 mins was comfortable without producing anything, scoring a really good goal really lifted us and a freak second has given us a big lead that we should be able to build on in the second half. -
Like you coop i'm in my forties and cant be arsed standing anymore. In my teens my ST was for the West enclosure and I had a ST for the last season of standing at Ibrox, so I am not against standing (safely) at the football. In those days there was no pyro, that is the big difference between then and now. Safe standing will provide camouflage for the wee neds who want to let off smoke bombs, which in turn will get the club into trouble with the authorities, and is also a real problem from a H&S perspective. If those wanting this can promise there will be no pyro, then let them have their standing area. The West Enclosure would make the most sense to me, as it doesnt then impact of neighbouring sections who will have sightlines blocked by those standing.

Cheers D'art, looks fairly routine stuff. Hopefully all involved can kick on now.

Pedro Caixinha on why Michael O’Halloran WON’T be back at Ibrox

You cant have it both ways Gaffer. Either it's out of order to say those things or it's not. It cant be "calculated" one way and "disrespectful" the other. If I was to defend one, at least MOH said it (IF true) to his face behind closed doors, while PC threw a current Rangers player under the bus unnecessarily. It is PC that has no place at Rangers ever again, if we are to take your sentiments out of this situation, for his is by far the worse of the two, and the only one which has definitely happened. FWIW I think its all just bluster, I dont really believe MOH had the balls to say that (but I dont know him so maybe that is his way) . The manager surely has to earn respect by his actions, just like everybody else in life. -
Derek Johnstone: Rangers fans shouldn't mourn the departed....
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The only bit i disagree with is on McKay. His "inconsistency" which to my mind is overblown as he was one of our best players last season and the only one with any creativity at all, was nothing to do with his departure, which was completely a financial decision. I agree with the tone of the article, and the weight of the shirt is something I go on about a lot, but I think he is misplaced in targetting the players he has used as examples. He could just as easily have used a lot of others like Kiernan, Crooks, Dodoo who achieved absolutely nothing than Waghorn and Garner who contributed as much as anyone (not a lot granted!) last season. -
Has anyone read the draft constitution? Is there anything of note in it or pretty dry regulatory stuff? I must have missed it's release while on holiday.

Fully behind the club on this. Pyro adds nothing but negative things for me at the match. It is disgusting if you are anywhere near it, as I have been unfortunate to be in with the UB lot that does this at a lot of away games on our "journey" through the smaller grounds. Of course part of the reason for the UB wanting to introduce safe standing areas is so they can "get away" with letting off pyro as it is much harder to identify a culprit in a crowd all standing close together. No to both from me.

We were 12s AFTER Progres, we were 7/1 second best before a ball was kicked.

Looking positive - we seem to have a lot of options with versatile players, formations, to the point where guessing the starting 11 and formation is very difficult, but at least makes it interesting discussions points. Looking the other way - 6 games in and we dont have a settled side or a formation that works for us. Not many sides win a run of games while chopping and changing players and formations every week. -
Quite sad to see that from starting odds of celtic 1/7 Rangers 7/1 Dolly 11/1 the latest odds are now celtic 1/33 dolly 20/1 Rangers 25/1 After only 3 games we have now more than trebled in price, and now lie behind Dolly in the betting. Very very sad.

Surprised both are not in some selections given how highly rated Rossiter is and that PC was on record as saying Herrera was his number one target for striker when he bought him. I suppose we will see on Sunday. -

Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I just read that on Twitter there and had a real laugh out loud moment. It was only last weekend while I was away down south with friends on a jolly that I was informed of a conversation that supposedly took place between MOH and PC when he was getting put out on loan to St Johnstone. Apparantly MOH loves it here and didnt want to go, but was prepared to go until January and told PC this was because "you wont be here by then!" Incidentally this is the same reason Halliday is supposed to have given for taking a loan deal. Dont know if all this is tosh, but when you hear something one week and then the manager slaughters the same player the next, it gives it some 2+2 reasoning!
