[FT] Ross County 1 - 3 Rangers (Morelos 31, 41; Herrera 89)

From what PC was saying there is no way Pena is starting a game anytime soon so cant see him in that line-up. I am assuming that Rossiter, Herrera are injured as well as Windass? Can anyone clarify? Wes Tav Alves Kiernan (reincarnated with a tan and changed his name to Cardoso!) Wallace Jack Dorrans Candeias Nico Morelos Hardie Go for it Pedro! -

The optimism is just part of being a supporter! Every week we are crap and by the time the next game comes along we have managed to talk ourselves into being a good team again, then the cycle repeats! I think this is the same at most clubs and is what makes football such a good supporter sport. FWIW I dont think Herrera has done much wrong other than get injured, and i think there may be some talent there, but I do agree that a lot of his signings dont look too good, Cardoso, Candieas, Dalcio, have not impressed me to date and have to show a lot more if they are to become important members of a winning side. -

Aside from the errors in the first paragraph which have already been mentioned, I really dont like this article at all. I could tell right away you hadnt written it as it just doesnt read like a normal Gersnet preview, the quality of which is usually extraordinarily good for volunteers and brings great credit to this board. Saying we have a fantastic record against Ross County when we didnt manage a single victory in 3 attempts last season, is pushing credibility a bit. I'm dreading the trip up on Sunday because in my mind we always get a tough game against them. To say that Dundee's win was impressive is not right either IMO. This was Murty's first (or second - cant remember) game and we were in absolute disarray. We gifted them their goals and we missed a lot of chances as usual. Just about anybody was going to beat us at that time. I appreciate it is not always easy to get contributors to do these previews, and to maintain the high quality readers are used to, but IMO I dont think this is the way to go. -

I'm with Calscot on this. If the opening paragraph says two wins out of 6 when it is clearly 3 wins out of six, I dont see the point of reading any further. Pedro is in bad enough trouble without having his slender home victory against the Luxembourg giants erased from this seasons stats! -
Eh Craig, Kanchelskis didn't play with any of those players you mentioned mate! They were all away by 1998 when Walter left. Under DA we had Numan, Amoruso, Porrini, GVB, Albertz, Wallace, Barry, etc. I will agree we were not a defensive side, far from it, but you have your era's mixed up!

I'm not too bothered if the guy is having difficulty adjusting to a new country and playing style, I cannot accept it if he is out bevvying and not putting in extra sessions to get up to match sharpness. I dont know which of the two above is actually true. In the Glasgow goldfish bowl you hear an awful lot of stories that are not true. If Pena was out on the sauce as often as suggested the Daily Rhebel would have splashed it across the pages by now is my guess. Pena taking time to adjust (if true) is fine as long as the other players are pulling their weight. Our 5 game-season so far with 2 wins 2 defeats and a draw and with our worst ever defeat in our 145 year history shows clearly that the players and management are not doing the business just now. So lets blame the guy who has hardly played at all!

Read the post again, I did nothing of the sort. The question i posed had nothing to do with him. The other members who have been applying the ratings are doing that all by themselves, based on yet another rubbish performance.

I was devastated when McLeish got the job as I believed that was not the way to progress after DA. However it was exactly what we needed at that time. A good Bluenose manager that can get the best out of decent players that a higher profile manager could not, using passion for the club and a review of the tactics and gameplan in use to ensure we started winning more games. It doesnt need to be a decade long strategy, it just has to get us winning a large majority of the games. We moved forward with MW from what he inherited, but he couldnt get us to push on due to a number of reasons, and that brings us back to the fact that we appointed completely the wrong man, for all the wrong reasons. We apparantly got 60-70 CV's in when MW left last spring - lets see who wants it enough to apply for it and get a proper recruitment process in place through Allen and not mates of agents and sub-agents. What is clear (and has been from day 1), is that PC is way over his head at this level and will be out at some point before the end of the season but probably sooner.

I personally wouldn't give Pedro another penny in this window, I would prefer to keep any funds left (probably none due to Progres) for the new manager to use in January. Given his track record this summer, starting with giving Miller another year to the Pena gamble, and getting rid of McKay, there are a lot more misses than hits.

I make a point of not watching YouTube compilations of players as they are never accurate portrayals. I wish managers done the same! If he has been properly scouted and the manager believes he is better than his current options, and is a position that needs additional investment, then fine. If not, then no. I am not really a fan of bringing in youth players on loan as we need experienced players that can handle the unique pressure of playing for Rangers. If this kid has no first team experience anywhere, it's just too big a gamble given how bad a state we are in. But we are not in a position to be soooo fussy, so the odd punt may have to be taken.
-
I haven't seen the game and have no intentions of going back to watch it now, but going on the above ratings, Miller must have been even more honking than usual! It is also quite surprising that in a game where most reports say Hearts made no attacking effort and came for the snore draw they got, our defensive midfielder Jack and centre back Alves are getting the best scores, when they couldn't have had a great deal to do. Anyone care to elaborate?

The use of the word Legend is becoming completely diminished.

Yes, we need a John Beaton and an Andrew Dallas to be competitive in this league, with a Tony McLennan (or whatever his name is) on the bench for us too.

So after a weekend of terrible refereeing decisions, Lennon maybe on a police charge, Motherwell ending with 8 men, KJ thinks the best use of his column is to cry foul at our press conferences being filmed in full. Does he think anyone believes that had the refereeing decisions gone the other way and we survived the last minute stonewall penalty to hold on to a win and the tims got the type of cheating performance against them that he, or any other journo, would be talking about anything else other than dodgy referees?
-
So the media today are all over this statement and the police complaints about Lennon, instead of the worst case of referee cheating we have seen in years. I think we chose to focus on the wrong agenda. The refereeing needs to be dealt with.

Sorry, but you are wrong. I give him praise when it is deserved. It just doesnt happen very often as his performances dont merit it. You can check back threads where he got praise from me (ICT last season where he scored a belter if I recall) The sitter was not the one from the keeper, that wasn't even a half-chance in my book and done well to get anything on it at all, it was the one he hit the post at 1-0 and admitted himself post-match he should have scored.
-
As I have just said to Pete, no way was that even a half chance and that is not the chance I refer to. I mean the one where he hit the post. Miller himself admitted as much post-match.
-
No that was impossible to control and wasnt even a half chance in my book. The one where he sclaffed it and hit the post. Miller admitted post-match he should have scored it.
-
Thats funny, when I seen you had replied, I predicted that would be your response too! I only say it because I believe it to be true. I too want to see Morelos partnered with Herrera. These are the two strikers PC brought in to score goals given this was a huge problem for us last year, and he has moved on two of the striking failures from last season. If Herrera isnt quite at the races yet, then Hardie deserves his chance. To continue to give the shirt to Miller is wasting everyone's time, and costs us big time. Two sitters at 1-0 up in two successive league games to kill the game is not good enough, and his overall game has deteriorated considerably over the last 3 years. Surely every Rangers fan would accept that as fair comment?
-
This is spot on. While the manager takes a lot of blame for his tactics after we went down to 10, the remaining players, and the replacements who came on, did not show the desire or belief required in such a match. To say they hid is bang on.
-
In my opinion he was by far our worst player. Missed a sitter that would have put us 2-0 up and cruising, then when moved about was utterly useless and contributed nothing positive. I am allowed to mark the players same as anyone else, and he had an absolute stinker. I dont think anyone who watched the game live from the stadium could disagree.

Morelos, yes needs more time. The other one, needs shown the door.
