Last year it was on 3 August, but I've just checked and Tannochsidebear is correct, the 1st round this coming season is to be played on Sat 25 July - http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/petrofac-training-cup-dates/ That's less than 6 weeks away. The draw for that 1st round is 2 weeks from today on Mon 29 June.

It'll be over before we know it. There's less than 7 weeks until the beginning of August when we'll have our first proper competitive game of the season.

It'll be interesting to see when the new manager gets the remaining players back in to training. Does anyone know when they were due back from their holidays?

There must be some confusion on that point.

I'm not quite sure what Ally saw in the lad. He looked half decent against poor quality left backs in the lowest tiers of Scottish football, but up against better quality players he normally looked decidedly mediocre other than maybe a handful of good games.

He was a bit shaky in a couple of the games against us, but he also displayed some excellent defending against us too.

I don't mean to dampen today's good vibes, but that is scandalous. Whoever gave that lad a contract till 2018 needs their baws toed.

Apparently so and I think a lot of folk expected that's where he would go. They might not give him games though, they might have been looking to sign him as back up rather than as a starter.

Yep, still only 23 and he's played 25 games for Rangers, 8 for Liverpool, 10 for Blackpool and 84 for Hearts.

Danny Wilson's had a cracking season at Hearts. He played the full season apart from a short spell out injured in November and he's one of the reasons Hearts only conceded 26 goals in 36 league games. I wouldn't say he's the finished article yet, but he's got a lot of experience under his belt compared to a lot of other 23 year old players.

Warburton's 50% win ratio last season is certainly pretty good going in such a tough league.

I'm staying in fingers crossed mode until it's officially announced by Rangers.

It might suit us best if Poland & Germany draw in their next game. Georgia away will be a tricky game for us because they're not a bad team at all. Taking 3 points off Poland will be very difficult.

I think head-to-head comes before goal difference in this competition, so given that we got a win and a draw against the ROI they'll need to finish with more points than us to be above us.

Hopefully Warburton is appointed tomorrow and it's not just a wind-up from Pacific Quay CSC.

It's a difficult subject Les. Personally, I wanted Ally to succeed and be given the opportunity to take us back to the top flight, but despite the growing calls for his head I think he made a mistake by stepping down because it blew our season out of the water when realistically it was still maybe retrievable. In fairness as well, I've been very critical of Ally's team selections, tactics, subs etc over the past few seasons, so it's not as if I'm some sort of Ally fan boy, I'm just like a whole bunch of other fans who wanted to see him succeed and were very disappointed when he didn't.

I've got no idea who was saying that mate, but equally so, I've absolutely no idea what Ally McCoist's demands actually are. What I do know is just my own opinion that Ally should (and probably will) invest some - if not all - of that gardening leave money back into the Club.
