Marshall has proven himself to be a complete dogs dinner if you look at his international record over his last 3 or 4 games. It's something like a dozen goals conceded in 3 games, but I suppose you have to blame the rest of the players in the teams who were playing during those humpings. You can't just blame the keeper when the team gets humped 4-0. If you look at the goals in the Norway game, they actually weren't Marshall's fault either. In fact, if it wasn't for a few decent saves from Marshall we'd have been humiliated even further with a defeat of about 6 or 7 nil. As it was, it should have been 5-0 if you count the Carew goal that crossed the line, so it could so easily have been 7. Not sticking up for Marshall btw, but IMO George Burley needs to be getting much more of the blame than any single player. Burley put out a team that wasn't the best team he could have picked from a squad that wasn't the best squad he could have picked. Ever since the game out in Macedonia I've been wanting rid of the muppet, because I knew as early as that, that he was going to be terrible for us. Absolute shambles of a man.

Right, gotcha. So, it's not like they have contracts with all the supporters clubs in central Scotland.

I'd imagine buying a brand new bus/coach would cost £150k-£200k. I'm not sure if Rangers owning a private bus/coach would need a PSV operators license or not, but even if the club did need one it costs peanuts (2 or 3 hundred quid) & the cost of a 12 month vehicle license (tax disc) for a large coach is incredibly only £165. Presumably the most serious costs would be storing the vehicle/s in a suitable facility & mechanical maintenance including whatever standard regular checks, MOTs etc are required by law. IMO, if Rangers wanted to run their own buses they'd be better off leasing them direct from the manufacturer (like Mercedes for example). As they wouldn't have to worry about all the maintenance & mechanical side of it, as that would all be done by whoever they were leasing from under the terms of the lease. It may or may not end up costing slightly more, but if it did it would be worth it for the savings in hassle. You would really have to be using the vehicles near enough every single day for it to be worth doing any of these things though.

Here's another pish rumour from the Rangers interweb courtesy of an infection - As you can see, the infection doesn't speak English as we know it.
-
I seriously doubt there's enough money in bus rental/contracts, as the damn things must cost an absolute fortune to build/buy & maintain (license, insurance, tax etc). I'm not saying there's NO profit in buses, but in the case of Parks it's a primarily a big fcuk off traveling advertisement for where they make their real money (imo) - selling & leasing cars. I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it.
-
Here's a rumour that was just posted on another forum, probably by the same clan of cnuts that have been behind other rumours including some of the BS summer transfer ones.
-
oops, now I'm embarrassed. What contract is that exactly then BD?
-
Have to disagree Craig. That's exactly how someone like Douglas Park would make some money out of our club. Ok, so he might get involved for other reasons, but he's more than likely going to see business opportunity rather than status/fame, even if it was just the factor of advertisement for the Parks group. Having said that, that's also the main thing that makes me think Douglas Park wouldn't buy into Rangers; the fact that he'd be alienating his companies from the other side of the old firm. It could have as much of a damaging effect to him as beneficial.
-
You've inadvertently struck on an interesting point pete!! Dougie Park would look upon buying into a club like ours as a major source of coach contracts. It's not like he can't send some minions out to get the contracts anyway, but if he was owner or part owner of the club, he'd have the opportunity of excellent lines of communication with the supporter's clubs. Park's group would undoubtedly get all the vehicle leasing & company car contracts as well. mmmm.

These types of rumours have been doing the rounds for months. One minute it's Souness & a small consortium, next minute it's Souness, Dougie Park & 2 Canadians, now it's Dougie Park & an N. Irishman you say?? I'm waiting to hear the one about ManU or Chelski buying us as a feeder club. :fish:
-
After seeing the Norway game I think they might just take the opportunity to humiliate us at Hampden.
-
What's the source of the rumour?
-
Novo's injury is estimated to have him out for about 2 months (now about 7 weeks), but no doubt we'll get updates on it soon enough. My prediction :- Rangers 2 v 0 Falkirk Boyd, Naismith

Shamelessly stolen from a RM thread.
-
Don't forget to take Butcher & Elvis with you when you leave George you alcoholic muppet!!
-
The other left back in Burley's squad is McAllister I think. He could have played Whittiker there, but it's Burley's team. On his head be it. Bit surprised about the choice of holding midfielder.

No need mate, I've just realized that they obviously do release updated 'current' versions throughout the season. They just don't let you access the ones from during last season from what I can see. Go here for the official document releases >>> http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/football_document_libraries.cfm?page=722

Suspension List 1st release Suspension List 2nd release
-
Would be nice for someone to collate it all S_A, but we can't rely on the SFA as they don't release these official documents during the season. The one I posted a link to was the 3rd official document release, with the 1st & 2nd having been on (or having been dated) the 23rd & 30th of July.
-
Exactly mate. If they hadn't been able to wangle it with the Loovens appeal, they'd have been without Caldwell, McManus & Loovens for their 1st SPL fixture. It's just another example of why John Hughes went ballistic last season about the system being flawed. It is flawed.
-
Looks like it. Exactly.
-
Apparently S.Smith & Thomson weren't well this week (illnesses), so it's kind of up in the air atm.
-
The sneaky barstewards have done it, because Caldwell is out for their 1st game. - http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/Disciplinary/CurrentSuspensions/Season2009/10/August2009/PlayerSuspensions/LOS03(06Aug).pdf

Was digging for proof that Papac is suspended for our 1st SPL game against Falkirk next week & came across the official SFA list of suspensions that has just been released on 6th August. >>> http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/Disciplinary/CurrentSuspensions/Season2009/10/August2009/PlayerSuspensions/LOS03(06Aug).pdf So, we're minus Papac & Lafferty for sure. We'll need to wait to see if we'll be missing anyone else when Naismith, Miller & the others return from Norway.

When I brought the Adam subject up it was in the context of cover for central midfield, not LM. With Thomson rightly being brought back slowly, we can't count him as 100% reliable yet imo & with Edu still out, that only leaves us with Mendes, Davis & McCulloch, but remember that McCulloch is not a natural central midfielder, he's a striker that happens to be able to play there & just about anywhere else he's asked, but not always with the level of ability we really need in the role he's given. So, other than Mendes & Davis in central midfield, we're left with our young attacking midfielder options like Fleck & Aaron or the lad Ness. My basic point is that taking injuries into account, we're actually now as thin in central midfield as we are at the back. Add to that the fact that McCulloch is likely to be played as a center half on occasion if we don't bring at least one CB in before September & that leaves the central midfield looking even thinner. I hear you, but Broadfoot isn't fit. Not sure when he might be back, but until he is, we'll likely see SW played at LB when Papac isn't playing. Agreed! If Thomson's return from injury doesn't go as well as planned & Edu doesn't get back quickly enough, Adam would definitely have got a game here and there. Not an extended run unless Mendes or Davis picked up an injury, but he'd have got some games. Would have been handy to have for cup games while the top players concentrate mainly on the SPL & CL.
