Overall for Rangers it's very good, but if you look at the most relevant sections you get a better picture of just how well he did here. - Since he returned to Ibrox from St. Mirren in summer 2006 he's netted a total 18 times in 74 starts (1 in 4.1). - If you look specifically at his first season back with us in 2006/2007 when he was given his big chance & a really good run of games by Paul Le Guen & the returning Walter Smith after Xmas (the only solid run of starts given to Charlie in a Rangers top), Charlie Adam scored an impressive 14 goals in 40 starts (1 in 2.8). - As a side note, while on loan to St. Mirren in 2005 where he was also given a good run of starts he scored 9 goals in 30 starts (1 in 3.3). Since nobody can argue against the fairness of judging a player on periods where they're given a decent (extended) run of games/starts, I'd say it's quite fair to take the average of Adam's 05/06 & 06/07 seasons as an indication of his scoring ability & that is an average goals to games ratio of approximately 1 in 3, which is absolutely excellent for a young 20/21 year old midfielder. Again, best of luck to the big man.

Good luck Charlie! You scored some important & some cracking goals for us in your time here. Goals against teams like Stuttgart, Livorno & Celtic are not to be sniffed at. Will be following your career down south, so all the best in Blackpool.

A full strength Dynamo at home with their captain back are gonna rape Caldwell. Can't wait to see it.

Caldwell is a bunnet. 3-0 Dynamo.

Aye, central defense is a major concern unless we sign a center half.

Got to agree. Not so bad at all. If Davis or Naisy had brought the scoreline back to 2-1 when we caught them on the break we could maybe have snuck a 2-2 draw, but when they got the 3rd it just killed us off. Thought Beasely was pretty dire & I wasn't impressed by McCulloch. Miller made an impact, then went missing. He should have got his shot on target from the distance he struck from as well. All the defenders made some bad mistakes & gave away the ball too often, but so did the midfield. Bougie at least showed his quality at playing out of defense a few times. Naismith looks very fit & pacey, so was quite pleased with him.

Just a tad...

out of contract players in Spain free to move this summer out of contract players in Italy free to move this summer out of contract players in England free to move this summer There's some really good players in there. Certainly better than we could pick up in the SPL if push comes to shove & that's just 3 of the big leagues. Wages are an issue, but if we had to punt the likes of big Lee that would pay at least half the wages of another good defender.
-
TBH S_A, I wish we just gone for it already & signed a quality CB bosman.
-
If their CL exit has any bearing on our CB/CH signing, I think it'll just be how much we can afford to spend, so basically the quality of player we can go for. That's what I'm hoping anyway, as we need to sign for that position either way.

Craig, I think if Wilson was gonna see much 1st team action in the coming season, he'd have been out in Germany. I think he's still too young by the looks of things. He's only 17 AFAIK.
-
Neither really. I think we'll probably buy in a center half no matter what happens with Celtic.
-
I doubt that Bougherra would want to miss out on CL footy, but if the club accepts a good offer & Bougie is offered the chance to double his wages, he could be away before September.
-
We only desperately need a new center half & nobody is whining AFAIK. The coefficient speaks for itself.

He went straight through the keeper with no chance of getting the ball & didn't get booked for it. The keeper was fuming about it. Then, in the incident that Killen was booked for, he literally attacked the keeper from behind as the keeper was running away from goal with the ball in his arms. Is was tantamount to an assault. Looked to me like Killen should have been sent off.

Motherwell all but out & the sheep are shagged

I'm quite happy with Mopery being there. They'll be starting to turn on him as of next week by the looks of things. -

They actually weren't that bad a side. They play in Europe almost every season & are better than the 2 teams Motherwell have put out this year. -

SPL winners probably won't next year. Scottish football has risen & fallen. Getting to that UEFA Cup final was a 2 or 3 decade peak. -

But of course, Falkirk were "just happy to be involved"... -

ooooooofffff..... the sheep are now 1-5 down. Their worst ever home defeat in Europe, an utter embarrassment for MM. -

1-4 to Sigma now, so the sheep are out unless the Czech team don't turn up out there. -
Definitely agree with you on Adam. People criticize him for trying to make defense-splitting passes that don't always come off for him, as if that's somehow worse than having no ideas or initiative and constantly playing the square ball... or even worse, back to Davie Weir. The thing is, that his insight & initiative often do pay off, but he's not given much if any recognition for it. The irony is that he's been held back by the negativity of a support that are calling out for a more positive attacking approach to the game.

The Well went down 3 nil in their away leg to a Romanian side packed with international & U21 international players tonight. Meanwhile, Aberdeen are now 1-3 down in their home leg against Sigma Olomouc. It's looking very much like both SPL teams will be following Falkirk out of Europe & leaving our coefficient looking as poor as our country's TV deal money.
