  1. More a box to box old fashioned #8. Lundstram can play there but i dont see him as a holding midfielder. That's what we need more of. Davis of 10 years ago. Not going to get hung up on tactics/formations. Lundstram and Davis can both get forward without being AM/#10 types. Tillman can do it(Motherwell away). Lowry can do it(Hearts away end of last season). A agree with your initial point its not just more midfielders we need. its the type. We have the right type in Jack/Davis but they cant do it anymore and need replaced. If we sell Kamara perhaps we need another DM but Sands is probably enough.
  2. Tillman, Lowry, Hagi, Lawrence(I know the latter two are injured but thats temporary). Really? Dont think we need any holding midfielders. Sands can do it. Lundstram can do it. Jack can do it (when fit..). Davis can do it. Kamara can do it (if he can be bothered) If we can clone a right sided Lundstram that would be good. An all rounder. Or a Pedro Mendes type.
  3. Kent > Sakala > Tillman. Best 3 players on the night in that order.
  4. Dont think its a secret he has been after a move for some time. Remember we beat them 1-0 at Ibrox and he did a lap of honour as if it was his last game.
  5. And we were beaten 9-1 on aggregate by the team RM beat by a whisker in the CL final last year. Funny that eh.
  6. Have Celtc ever complained publicly about our TV deals with either Sky/BT/Premier? Cant recall it ever happening. Speaks volumes.
  7. yeah agree. If anything our problem has been moving players on. We could have done with moving on Kamara, Kent, Morelos, Barisic, Roofe in the summer in an ideal world but it is what it is.
  8. Yes just posted in the other thread the same. Our summer business will prove to be successful by and large, i still have faith in Matondo. We just needed more midfielders. Liverpool needed help in midfield, the loaned Arthur from Juve. Napoli loaned Anguissa and N'Domblele to help in midfield. Ajax got Ocampos on loan to cover the departure of Antony to Man U at short notice. Chelsea loaned Zakaria from Juve as they were short in midfield. If loans are good enough for the elite clubs then surely there are some out of favour guys we could take on short term to help us out.
  9. Agree entirely. So long as Celtc sell our TV rights to Sky on the cheap the gap will only grow.
  10. It still wasn't enough. I bemoaned at the time I thought our general transfer business was good, but we needed to bring in at least 1 midfielder(ideally 2). Even a loan would have done. Jack cant stay fit. Davies and Arfield cant play full games or 2 games a week. Kamara should have been sold he has since disengaged since the move to Nice fell through. Agree the scale of injuries are unprecedented and the general outlook on the summer transfers look good. I still believe Matondo will come good in time. There have been flashes from him.
  11. happens to me occasionally on ios devices
  12. If we have 9 points from the next 3 games then the general outlook on things will be positive. Europe has banked us some cash and its done. Lets focus on the treble and see where it leas us.
  13. IMO the bosman signings are a bit of a misnomer in terms of value. The club wont have to pay a fee but will likely over pay on agent fees, sign on fees and wages. Perhaps better value to be found in the ~£2 million bracket signings as they can likely command less in terms of wages and fees. Aribo was a good example of a free that turned out well, but I'm sure we spent around 2 million in fees to bring him in (development fee to Charlton, sign on fees for agent and player). Sakala, Lundstram and Lawrence will all be on a healthy wage as a result.
  14. Think its the same. Even if we can get a couple of loans in if we have no money. We need bodies in midfield.
  15. That's exactly what will happen. If you take emotion and sentiment away its actually a sensible approach. However it'll be hard to stomach.
  16. yeah lets be honest its not about running more its about running smarter.
  17. True, but half a yard makes all the difference in football.
  18. Yup. Looks like they will have another go at Terry Munro here. We are miles behind. On and off the park.
  19. Interesting comments from the manager last night. Looks like wont be much in January window. Summer movement will probably be limited. We have no funds for transfers.
  20. Stats post game on BT sports have alluded to other teams running more than us. Is it that by design or is it a lack of capability. perhaps the gentleman in charge of our team who famously said we can’t compete at this level could take a leaf from a Martindale/McInnes/Courts who’s teams couldn’t compete with us - but found a way.
  21. Its certainly looking that way so far this season. What has changed since last season and our incredible European run? Our domestic league record however last season = not so great. Great credit for winning the Scottish cup at the 1st go. Gerrard & struggled big time with that.
  22. That's the thing - when people talk about Ajax in the player trading model, and they falter in the league its because they are blooding a team of young/new players who are getting up to speed and improving performances year on year. Not sure they are finishing second ripping the backside out of 30 and 40 year olds.
  23. That injury list can be down to bad judgement as well as back luck. Half of the names on it are set in stone. The managers tactics last night again were bizarre, going so open against a team 2-0 up. But that's not all that's to blame.
