  1. I don't get it. The guy is English, he just happens to have been brought up in Scotland. If I grew up in England of Scottish parents I would still be Scottish I presume? I'm not talking about the rules necessarly, just about the idea that some people somehow expect him to "feel Scottish". I think that's mental and its up to him how or what he feels.
  2. Piss off chick, this is a Rangers board.
  3. Alright Cammy - I can see you put a lot of thought into that and your disappointment is palpable. I am absolutely convinced that there are load of things that can be done to make you happier. Off-field, that is. You're right that Rangers' outlook was probably in the hands of fate on the last day of last season - and also that most people quickly forget when they see silver. And quite rightly so, for a short period! So, chin up mate! Try to think of ideas and then get involved off-line with whoever you think will help you get your voice heard, or independently. That's another thing you can do.
  4. They actually don't mate. Have a look on their boards and you will see regular tales of 50-52k at Porkheid. I'd say they would be lucky to have 44k ST holders this season, which is significantly down on last season. They are never off the radio or billboards trying to punt tickets.
  5. "according to reports....." I mean wtf does that mean from STV, when they are the only ones actually 'reporting' it? meh.
  6. That's crazy! Can't believe they're going for Mancini when McParland was already there.
  7. This is true mate.... I stood in the Rangers end at Hampden (Section J) towards the end of a midweek Scotland game when it must have been about 70% full. Maybe 1985, something like that. People started firstly singing the Follow Follow and most - honestly most - people joined in. It was loud. Then it moved onto the Sash. Same again. It was quite bizarre and the only time I witnessed it, but I still remember it to this day because it said an awful lot. I remember feeling slightly wary in case anything kicked-off, but it didn't and I didn't hear anybody complaining. Strength in numbers, and the Rangers boys were there alright. As I said maybe that's totally inappropriate, but that was genuinely the make-up of the Scotland support. It makes me sad to see Rangers fans turn their back on Scotland these days.
  8. Exactly. England ain't Britain. Very true. The fabric of our society has changed massively. 50, even 25 years ago, the way things are now would have been unimaginable. Disappointing. Very defeatist POV.
  9. cheers mate, knew it would be to do with that (or money!)
  10. And as I said on the other thread SO ARE FULHAM!!!!!!!
  11. FFS, another one of these bollocks lists! Reasons are too numerous to mention, but when Fulham (yes, Fulham!) occupies a higher slot than Rangers then you know there's something wrong!
  12. Indeed. Without getting into politics and all that, I just cannot understand why a lot of Scottish Rangers fans seem to revel in it when Scotland get beat. They say its because of the Tranny Army, but that doesn't do it for me. It's OUR country, not some sheep-shagger's. I wish for the old days when the big bulk of the crowd in the Rangers end at Hampden were actually Rangers fans and not many celtic fans were there. I grew up amongst that and it was fantastic to be supporting Scotland amongst fellow Bears. Quite inward-looking, I know, but that's how I grew up. For the record I am openly pro-British and a strong Unionist as well as being proud to be Scottish. I also like England a lot but till can't really support them at football - that's down to sporting rivalry, nothing else. This is a touchy subject, I know only too well!
  13. Correct. A lot of people seem well confused about their identity!!
  14. Me too. It's just bollocks. Fans = bottom of the pile and end of the queue.
  15. At the end of the day, pricing in any business is a key issue and its a difficult one to get right all the time. The club had an advantage this time though - they knew how ST's were selling in comparison to previous years and it wasn't looking great. That should have been a warning about CL pricing (coupled with the lack of a top-drawer name in the group) - but they didn't heed it = mistake. Secondly, although the 50k and the 40k crowds get you the same top-line revenue if you vary the prices as per the example, you also end up with 10,000 disenfranchised, pissed-off, absent fans (customers). Very short-sighted = mistake.
  16. I agree we need the money much more than Chelsea - the context is entirely different. To be fair too, some of the biggest critics are also people who can't afford to actually buy a ticket at these prices plus the people who reluctantly buy them out of pure loyalty but feel over-charged. Also, I can see a flaw in the statement I highlight above!
  17. Although I didn't elaborate, this (and your post above, tannochsidebear) was the essence of the OP. In my head and my heart, I find this a difficult issue. It's all about money - nothing else. We had (well, borrowed) lots of money before and where did it get us? Change is inevitable, I understand that. But this needs a lot of thought and nobody's got round to describing what the end game is yet. I don't think anybody even knows. As I said in the OP, the chat is about undefined competitions in unspecified lands playing against unidentified opponents with absolutely no regard for the game in Scotland. Erm, I think I need a lot more information than that. Accepting that our current failures are simply down to not having as much money as clubs in England is laughable. Our club is not all it can be in its current situation, that must be pretty clear.
  18. Chelsea is a fashion-accessory club for a lot of their fans. Beyond their core support of say 35,000 they simply don't have the strength in depth of Rangers. They have had shit crowds in the past for early rounds for this reason - even against quite good teams. So they've gone through this learning curve and realised they need to drop their prices or the place will be embarrassingly empty. That said, Rangers have priced it wrongly this time round. They've made a mistake and misjudged the market. The proof is in the ticket sales - it is 100% clear evidence. So yes, you could say that we are being ripped-off but I do genuinely believe it's down to a mistake. Not excusing it in the slightest btw, it's poor decision-making and not what we should accept from the club.
  19. something seeing as nobody's posted anything in the last 9 hours! See what happens when there's a free weekend for no good reason
  20. Honestly can't beleive he's playing for Portugal. How did he do?
  21. Craig. WTF you on about man? 8-5 in OF finals relates to matches which were OF finals.
  22. If that was a genuine spin-off benefit then there's every motivation for us to all get behind it.
  23. That's what its all about mate. Rangers need to sharpen up and smarten up. Do what they need to do then deal with it. Know how to deal with it - and keep dealing with it. As the statement said; enough is enough.
  24. Indeed - the same Michael walker mentioned in the statement; In the case of the Daily Mail, there has been direct communication with Michael Walker to the effect that he has been "sussed" and Rangers fans will look elsewhere for objective reporting. Walker has responded stating he made efforts to contact the Assemby (no record of any contact) as well as Ally McCoist, The Police Service of Northern Ireland, Strathclyde Police, Nil by Mouth and a Celtic Supporters Group but only had responses from Souness and Strathclyde Police. He stated he did not get the balance right in his article and "..should have made reference to the tiresome and offensive nature of some of Celtic fans' chanting..". He stated he would be in touch if he returned to the same subject. I've no preference as far as GersNet goes tbh because I also visit other boards. But if Walker writes this pish and nobody's allowed to link or paste it, then the GersNet community will not be able to discuss it or necessarily even be aware of it. Anyway, majority wins, I've said my piece!
