The Roman Catholic church protects itself by banning catholics from joining the OO or the Masons, Islam protect themselves by insisting that you believe in the Quaran and Mohammad, the Hindus insist that you believe moksha, enlightenment, unites the individual soul with Brahman.
What is wrong with the Orange Order insisting that the organization is based on the Reformed faith?

Can a person not have their own faith and yet still perform a professional job?

The OO is not a religion though.

Agree with that except pretty certain it’s Catholic Church that stops Catholics from joining the Masons not the Masons. Whereas the OO discriminates only against Catholics. If the OO said it was Protestants only who can marry members I wouldn’t have an issue but it seems to say it’s Protestants, plus everyone and anyone else and even atheists but not Catholics. That’s the definition of discrimination in my book and you’re right it’s pretty surprising in the context of our campaign.

Sorry my post wasn't clear - I was not questioning the free Masons. My remarks were aimed at the Catholic Church and OO.

  3. The fact that we are talking about whether Orange Lodge members can marry Catholics, or whether Catholics can participate in the Free Masons suggests to me that this appointment could be more hassle than it's worth.

We have just launched an Everyone and Anyone campaign - so for me it is hypocritical for David Graham to be part of this when he is a member of a group who openly discriminate against another group.

This is definitely a crisis but like all genuine crises it's also an opportunity to break inertia and change direction. There are two realistic options for all of us - either give up supporting Rangers .... or go again.

The answer will forever be... Go again

Have you honestly seen that much of Shankland, and saw that much of Clark when he was banging them in at QotS in order to make that judgement ?

It is just as plausible that Shankland has found his level in the Championship and would be a flop in the top league.  And Defoe may get nothing more out of him than we already see.  At 2 million (assuming that number is accurate) I am not convinced.

You are ruling him out just because we signed Nicky Clark and it didn't work out.

As @BlackSocksRedTops points out - Robertson went from being a Queens Park player to being one of the best full backs in the world.

I have actually seen a fair bit of Shankland (including his perfect hat-trick at the weekend)  and IMO he would flourish in our team with the sheer volume of chances we create.

The way we didn't regret signing Nicky Clark who had been banging goals in for QotS in the lower leagues ?

Point being.... there are no guarantees and some of the numbers I have seen thrown around for Shankland (someone suggested as much as 2 million) I would be saying thanks but no thanks.  At that price anyway.

Shankland is 10 times the player of Nicky Clark, working with Defoe everyday could make him great.

They can still look at Tierney, Johnston though.  There are more from their Academy that have broken through than ours - and the discussion we were having wasn't about "recent" - it was in general - we were talking over years, back to even Barry Ferguson.

I agree, but even then it is not like they have had great success with youth development either. Many promising players have had to leave to get game time elsewhere i.e. Liam Henderson and Dylan McGeouch.

Exactly this.  In speaking to someone within the club that is their main frustration - very few of our youngsters see the progression into the 1st team - they pointed out the likes of Forrest, McGregor, Tierney across the city, which is a fair enough example.... however, as I also pointed out to him... those players broke through when Celtic had absolutely zero competition and it was much easier to do so - when winning the league by 30 points they could have playd their whole youth team for a half dozen games with no impact.

What will be more interesting to see is whether Celtic maintain that now that they have a genuine challenge.  I personally doubt they do.

Forrest is now 28 (29 this year) and McGregor is now 26 (27 this year).

    Not exactly recent breakthroughs.

I think we're a better squad than this time last year and light years from the year before that, so I agree about the situation as a whole. But we couldn't beat a poor Celtic side yesterday. That tells me we're still some way short of where we need to be.

I think that is doing this Rangers team a huge disservice mate. Rangers did not allow them to play for the full 90 minutes. You have to bear in mind that this is the same Celtic team that have been lauded all season.

Drop Kanchelskis and pick Johnny Hubbard, SA.

My team is by no means the best, just a little exercise to get the brain thinking.

I was swithering between Gough, Goram, Souness, Cooper, Ferguson etc - but thought McCoist and Morelos would be lethal.
