  1. I am taking that as a bit of tongue in cheek sarcasm but just in case; I am happy to confirm that that is not the case, he was out the picture by then of course and I have never spoken to the man in any event.
  2. Your just digging a bigger hole for yourself, so I'll leave you at this point.
  3. I brought more than £500,000 funding from the SG to SDS and introduced McCall to the RST in 2010 (and played a very small part in the birth of RF). I also fought extremely hard to promote issues of importance for all Scottish Football fans in 2011-12. I accept that I failed to persuade most of the Clubs and the football authorities to implement a 16 team league. But that apart I'm pretty happy with my record. The dinners have both been very successful thanks, the numbers almost doubled for the second one. Just ask anyone who has attended and BTW you're more than welcome to the next one.
  4. Absolutely nothing to do with RM. As I said already the info came from inside the Club.
  5. If I'm wrong that the decision was made last Wednesday then why was
  6. The Club were most certainly embarrassed, that much we can agree on for sure. Sorry, you'll understand that I won't be sharing my source with you or anyone else for that matter.
  7. Thank you although I'm not quite sure how you can agree with SB that I'm "delusional" and at the same time agree with my post. However, in my delusional state I guess I should be thankful for any support I can get. There are indeed two sides to every story and if I may say, that's something I have become better placed than many to know in recent years. However, a friend volunteered the information about this matter so I don't think the version I posted comes into the category you suggest.
  8. I think what you posted was pretty clear and more or less confirms my information that the decision to remove him was made last Wednesday and it then took two days to agree or disagree the statements.
  9. It was clearly unfortunate that both Mr King and Mr Graham, had to leave town at the vital moment. However, it seems to me that you are pretty much agreeing with the information I posted. You confirm that the reason it took two days was getting the statement(s) agreed. You also confirm by implication that the minute the re-tweet became subject to comment, Mr Graham had no future on the Board.
  10. Bump for other comments from those who may have been too engrossed in the LC Final to notice this thread.
  11. IMO with freedom of speech comes responsibility and judgement, both of which were sadly lacking from his actions in re-tweeting the said post. I am not a fan of Mr Graham, so I know some of you will take the following with a pinch of salt. I had it confirmed to me from a reliable and unbiased source within Ibrox that (as we all realised) Rangers did not do any due diligence on Mr Graham prior to his appointment and were appalled when his FB and Twitter accounts were brought to their attention but by that time the announcement had been made. If they had done due diligence and discovered the accounts he would not have been appointed. Once the offending re-tweet was brought to their attention they moved to remove him asap and the only reason it took two days was so that the respective statements could be agreed. There was no possibility that he would have been allowed to remain in office.
  12. Depending on how flexible the restaurant is, booking for the 9th and then gradually working forward if we get through the rounds might work rather than booking the 23rd and having to work backwords. Or as I said we could just pick the most likely date, which as you say might be the 9th and stick with that regardless of what happens. Edit: Of course the 9th only works if we finish fourth. The 16th might be better because one would hope we could at least finish 3rd in which case we would be at home in the semi final on that date if we won the first tie. We could then either stick to that date regardless or could move a week back or forward depending on progress or the lack of it.
  13. You mean go with that date and stick to it so long as we are in the play-offs even if we get past the first round so we have possible home games on the 16th and 23rd? BTW not sure if these can be changed to Sundays.
  14. It's hard not to agree with that given recent performances but hopefully McCall can work some magic once he's got his foot in the door.
  15. Subject to any corrections to the SPFL Rules and possible dates, that I have posted in a separate thread; for the purposes of looking at dates for the 3rd Semi-Annual Gersnet Dinner I will assume that we will be in the Play-Offs. If Rangers finish second, which is looking increasingly unlikely; then we have possible home matches on: Saturday May 23, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg If Rangers finish third, which is looking increasingly likely; then we have possible home matches on: Wednesday May 13, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 2nd leg and if we win that tie then Saturday May 16, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg If Rangers finish fourth, which is entirely possible; then we have possible home matches on: Saturday May 9, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Saturday May 16, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg On the basis that the dinner has to be at the weekend, then in terms of possible dinner dates there are three possibilities: Saturday May 9, 2015 if we finish fourth in the league:- Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg Saturday May 16, 2015 if we finish third or finish fourth and win the first tie:- Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg Saturday May 23, 2015 if we finish second:- Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg If we are in the Play-Off Final then our match will be on the Thursday 28th and if Hibernian or Falkirk are in the Scottish Cup Final and the Play-Off Final then they would have to have beaten us en route, so if the Play-Off Finals are moved it wouldn’t affect us. It seems to me, therefore that we should plan for Saturday May 23, 2015, and either decide to hold the dinner on that date regardless; or be prepared to move it to any of the other dates depending on circumstances. (If we don't reach the Play-Offs then our last weekend match will be against Falkirk which is presently scheduled for 3.00pm on Saturday the 25th of April. In that case I would not be able to organise or attend the dinner as I will be away from the 10th to the 30th of April, so someone else will need to take over.) I would welcome feedback on the above and in particular whether we should just fix the date of Saturday May 23, 2015, regardless; or be prepared to move it to any of the other dates depending on circumstances. If there is broad agreement then I will go ahead but if there are differing opinions I’ll put up a poll. I’ll put up something about possible venues once we have agreed on a date.
  16. That's a very good point which I hadn't thought of rbr and exactly why I put up this thread. But on second thoughts (unless I'm mistaken) if Hibs (or Falkirk!) are in the Play-Off Final and the Scottish Cup Final then they have to have beaten us in the Play-Offs, so our last home game would be either Saturday the 9th or 16th and the Cup Final would affect their matches but not ours. If we are in the Play-Off Final then Hibs can't be so our last home match would still be Thursday May 28, 2015 and our last Saturday home matches would be the 16th or the 23rd depending on whether we finished second or third/fourth. Therefore this is academic from our point of view but being pedantic - The Scottish Cup Final is scheduled for Saturday, 30th May 2015 and on the assumption that Hibs are in the Play-Off Final one way or another those matches are scheduled for Thursday the 28th and Sunday 31st. I don't know what would happen except that the Cup Final won't be moved so one would assume that the the second leg of the Play-Off Final at least would be moved to the following midweek but since Hibs would certainly say that they didn't want to play the first leg on the Thursday night before the Saturday Cup Final, it might well be that both legs would be moved to the following week. But as I say I don't think it's an issue in terms of the dinner.
  17. I've been doing some reseach on this with a view to planning the next Gersnet Dinner but I thought it might be best to put this up as a separate thread, then copy the conclusions through to a Dinner thread (at the risk of Zappa merging them ). These are the Rules: C24 The format of the Premiership/Championship Play-Off Competition shall be: C24.1 In the first tie the Club occupying position 3 in the Championship will play the Club occupying position 4 in the Championship on a home and away knock – out basis. The Club occupying position 3 in the Championship will play the second leg at Home; C24.2 In the second tie the Club occupying position 2 in the Championship will play the winning Club in the first tie. The Club occupying position 2 in the Championship will play the second leg at Home; C24.3 In the third tie the Club occupying position 11 in the Premiership will play the winning Club in the second tie on a home and away knock – out basis. The Club occupying position 11 in the Premiership will play the second leg at Home; C24.4 The winning Club in each of the ties will be the Club to score the greatest number of goals over the two matches in each tie. In the event that the aggregate scores are equal after the second leg of each tie extra - time of 30 minutes (i.e. 15 minutes each way) will take place and thereafter if necessary kicks from the penalty mark will be taken in accordance with the rules laid down by the International Football Association Board which will determine the winner; C24.5 The winning Club in the third and final tie will play and be entitled to participate in the Premiership in the immediately succeeding Season; C24.6 The losers of each of the three ties will play and be entitled to participate in the Championship in the immediately succeeding Season; and C24.7 All ties will be played on dates and at times determined by the Board. http://spfl.co.uk/docs/067_324__therulesofthescottishprofessionalfootballleagueasat19january2015_1422995033.pdf BH Notes: 1) the rules appear to be remiss inasmuch as C24.2 - the second tie, does not specify that the tie will be played on a home and away knock – out basis but clearly this is the intention from the second sentence The Club occupying position 2 in the Championship will play the second leg at Home and the Play-Off dates below; 2) it would appear that away goals do not count double in the event of a tie on aggregate before or after extra-time. SPFL PLAY-OFF DATES 2014/15 Scottish Premiership play-offs Saturday May 9, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg Wednesday May 13, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 2nd leg Saturday May 16, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg Saturday May 23, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg Sunday May 31, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 2nd leg http://spfl.co.uk/play-offs/ Rangers Matches If Hearts win their next three matches (away to Raith Rovers and Falkirk this week and at home to Queen of the South on Saturday 28th of March) they will come to Ibrox on Sunday the 5th of April as worthy champions of the Championship with six matches to spare. If Rangers don’t start converting draws into wins sometime soon we will fall out of the play-of places altogether and our last league home match will be against Falkirk which is presently scheduled for 3.00pm on Saturday the 25th of April. It is not inconceivable that that match will be decisive in terms of which team finishes in 4th place. We probably won’t know if that is actually our last home game of the season until the following Saturday, 2nd of May, when we are due at Tynecastle. If Rangers finish second, which is looking increasingly unlikely; then we have possible home matches on: Saturday May 23, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg If Rangers finish third, which is looking increasingly likely; then we have possible home matches on: Wednesday May 13, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 2nd leg and if we win that tie then Saturday May 16, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg If Rangers finish fourth, which is entirely possible; then we have possible home matches on: Saturday May 9, 2015 Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Saturday May 16, 2015 Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg and if we win that tie then Thursday May 28, 2015 Premiership play-off final, 1st leg I would appreciate if anyone sees any errors in the possible dates, please post thanks.
  18. He said when he signed the 2 year deal that he was looking forward to helping us back up the leagues and playing in the SPL AND EUROPE again!
  19. It seems to me that the absence of "reluctantly" or "with regret" or some similar phrase from the Board's acceptance of his resignation tells it's own story.
  20. SB stated that Gordon Dinnie had turned down the position so perhaps he might be persuaded, as Chair it would be right and proper; but no doubt the Club will have learned lessons from the Graham episode and carry out due diligence before making any new appointments from the RST or elsewhere..
  21. And there was an RFB position for Ethnic Minorities occupied by Zia Islam.
  22. I agree with that 100% and indeed I said earlier that I thought an apology would get him off the hook. Absent an apology, for whatever reason, his position was untenable and he had to go for the good of the Club.
  23. Just noticed that because you did a 2 for 1 last time, the table shows game 35 but some folks have 36 predictions!
  24. That's a very interesting argument and one with which I would have considerable sympathy. It is also worth noting as I understand it that the Minutes with the comment were passed to Rangers and the RFB decided to publish after 5 days when no answer had been received from the Club. However, regardless of the pressure they were under, I am not sure that that gave them the right to publish well within the 14 days allowed to the Club. They might have got a way with it without that comment but including that comment was suicide. In any event, FS and others I have spoken to accept that the Minutes were issued "in error" if for no other reason than like it or not it was the Club's prerogative to publish in accordance with the Constitution.
