It was a mistake to bring him in with only 2 under 20's games and no reason to drop Robinson.

Football fans to be given legal right to buy their clubs...

A lot easier said than done e.g. Rangers at this time as DK has admitted will be unable to do so. -
Possible Dates for the 3rd Semi-Annual Gersnet Dinner

This is true but we had the pleasure of listening to one from the past, Dave Smith, at the last dinner and I have an exciting guest (not a player) lined up for the next one. -
Possible Dates for the 3rd Semi-Annual Gersnet Dinner

Actually I did look into this at the outset last year but the cost would be prohibitive for some except perhaps BD, TB and GS, the cheapest in the Argyle suite is £89 +VAT = £106.80, whereas our dinners have been £18-£19.50 (inc paying for a guest). However, it's a fair shout and may well be worth some thought for some folk. -
Possible Dates for the 3rd Semi-Annual Gersnet Dinner
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
This thread is open to all not just those who have attended or might consider attending the next dinner. I would like to know whether or not there is interest in having an end of season dinner because if not it will save me a lot of time organising something no one cares about. We had 12 first time and 22 second time so I thought it was progressing well but if not then fair enough. If there is enough interest then going by the few comments so far the 9th of May, which would be our home game in the first round if we finish fourth, or the 16th which would be our home game if we get through the first round look like the best bets. All constructive comments welcome. -
Mohsni IS a bomb scare. You can't compare (and I know you weren't directly) Zaliukas with Mohsni. Marius Zaliukas had a very good career with Hearts latterly as captain and has 25 caps for Lithuania. IMHO he is a composed defendeer but sometimes misses out due to lack of concentration and can commit rash tackles as a result. Sorry to say he is about as good as it gets right now for us. McGregor and Zaliukas is our best combination at CB.
-
That said the kid was correct because when the ball came out of defence from the corner he was nowhere near it as you say because the pass was dreadful.
-
The Alloa TEAM were actually doing mini sprints on the pitch as our lot came jogging out for the second half.
-
Funnily enough that's another tongue in cheek suggestion I made to my neighbour on Tuesday night.
-
I agree that he was a liability in CMF and is an embarrassment now but his overall record of 105 goals in 464 games at all levels incuding the Champions League, Premier League and every level of Scottish and English senior football proves he has been was a more than useful goalscorer throughout his career. All I am saying is that right now if, for whatever reason, McCall feels he has to play him, then given the paucity of our resources, striker might be the best solution. Equally I agree that he would be better hanging up his boots.
-
I don't accept that and I didn't like the booing at the end on Tuesday although it was understandable in the case of the likes of Boyd and Law who are clearly not trying I didn't think the same could be said of McCulloch. He is an embarrasssment now but he was an integral part of the team that took us to Manchester in 2008 scoring against Zeta and memorably in Lyon. He has performed well for us as a striker with a goal per four games ratio and has 18 international caps. So he is not and never has been a useless football player but he is well past his sell buy.
-
Wasn't McCulloch named as an assistant coach and what is his position now, is he just a player again?

The principle behind all this is excellent but you highlight one of the key problem areas as Dundee know to their cost. -
I said this BEFORE last night's match. McCulloch up front with Clark would be a far better option than Miller, Boyd or Daly, the first two of which are quite simply done. BUT we are struggling at CB as well, if Zaliukas is not fit, Streete out again, Faure also injured, surely not Mohsni. Would Daly be worth a shot as an emergency CB or Wallace with Smith at LB, not that I want him back in the team either? Who else is there? It would be a hell of an ask for Halkett to come in at this point, do those who have seen him think he could cope?
-
I thought changing the in form goalkeeper was a mistake; no doubt that a fully fit Bell is our best but he needs more games in the U20's, too late now. I agree about the tactical switch but once we were ahead he should have switched back to a back four, he could have brought Sinammon on and put McGregor at CB. I will be on an early train to EDI on Sunday but unlike days of yore have nothing but trepidation about this trip. I can see as going down 3-0 or 4-1, we are really short of defenders. The only real hopes are Murdoch, Walsh and Clark but they are not enough against a good, confident, settled Hibs team. BTW thought Murdoch was excellent in the DMF role, displayed a maturity way beyond his years and playing time.
-
Funnily enough that's exactly what I said to my neighbour at the match. He really was just going through the motions and I hate to say that about any Rangers player. I never once saw him chase after the ball after losing it. Contrast with the likes of Dado Prso who never gave up.
-
I don't think we have a marketing department anymore, do we?
-
Right now he will need a a large supply of band aid to make a promotion team out of this lot. Who would you retain in the side on merit? Faure (maybe but injured) McGregor, Zaliukas (also injured now), Wallace, Walsh, Murdoch, Clark, Vukic (also injured). I thought Shiels looked better tonight and if Law keeps driving forward perhaps. But we are short at RB, CB, CMF and striker. Surely only injuries can keep McCulloch in the team and Black, Boyd and Miller cannot start any more matches. I would go with Daly (as the best of a bad lot) to partner Clark. Heard on the radio that Walsh is really a no. 10 so he would be worth a try behind Clark if we have another wide man, Templeton perhaps if he can be persuaded to pass a ball. Contrast with Hibs, QoS and Falkirk all with settled teams playing controlled passing football. I fear for us against Hibs.
-
If McCulloch MUST play, I'd stick him up front, with Clark playing off him, has to be better than Miller, Daly or Boyd. May not be possible tomorrow night if Faure is out then McGregor is all we have left at RB unless one of the kids which wouldn't be a bad idea. Edit: having read the other thread, perhaps Sinammon at RB with McGregor and Zaliukas at CB?

See yous mods yer all the same

Is that Adam or Jamie Wilson?

No Pete I wasn't guessing, I posted what I was told; but clearly there is a difference of interpretation. I was told the two day gap was due to getting the statements sorted out and IMHO SB confirmed that with his comments. I maintain it's clear from SB's post that the decision was taken on the Wednesday. TBH I don't think the details matter that much. He would not have been appointed if Rangers had known about his Twitter account, he was appointed on Tuesday, the story came out on Wednesday and he "resigned" on Friday.
-
They weren't going to issue a statement saying that they had decided to remove someone they had appointed 24 hours before now were they?
-
I don't often agree with you Greg but that is a very intuitive and salient point. The high profile that fans have gained through the success of RST and RF in raising money to buy shares and obtain proxies means that fans and their representatives will be scrutinised like never before. Since football in general and the future of our Club in particular is such an emotive subject, there will be many who have what some might regard as skeletons in the cupboard in a football sense never mind their opinions about non-football related matters. All fans are ambassadors for the club and indeed when we go abroad as we have done in the past and will do again in the future we are ambassadors for our country as well. Social media is so instant and subject to such close examination that we should all think twice before we hit SEND/TWEET/POST or whatever.

I am happy to accept all of that, many thanks.
