When Do The Board Meet To Discuss Green?
BrahimHemdani replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Is it not tomorrow night? -
The fans would have paid for it over 5 years.
-
A Chairman doesn't have to be neutral, he's perfectly entitled to express his opinion and vote accordingly in Board meetings; but you are absolutely correct that as a director he has to do what is best for the Club and that includes not speaking publicly about anything that could possibly be construed as harming the Club. In the present circumstances that would be a very difficult balancing act. But I also don't think we'll hear much more from him. I admire him for taking on a role for which he clearly was not suited and I admire him more for stepping down when he realised that he couldn't achieve the consensus required for change.
-
I think part of this is that Walter is an honest bloke who was out of his depth in the intrigue and in-fighting and has done the honourable thing. This will be settled soon; but much blood will be spilled along the way.
-
Sad but true Jig at CB brings stability, he was the best we had available for that role; also sad that he had to go up front because Little couldn't make any impression on Marvin37. McAusland IS a mystery, one of our best if not the best at Livingston, out of position and without a warm up.
-
Remember that in 2010, he was not interested in a place on the Board or anything like that, he just wanted to rescue the Club for the fans. If the fans were truly organised, then this would be their greatest opportunity ever to drive a coach and horses through the fighting groups and take control; but sadly those that think that raising £250k is a big deal are not at the races.
-
And 2010. (why is that too short?)
-
Both sides.
-
What is certainly true about that is that Green has a mandate to cut costs and Ally & Co are top of the list.
-
Yep, I get it now; but I think it could have been clearer.
-
Got it now thanks.
-
Point taken.
-
A CEO that isn't a director, who would accept that?
-
This seems ambiguous at best. He is urging the Directors to avoid a meeting? And at the same time urging fans to get behind the resolutions? Who wrote this, Traynor?
-
Isn't that contradictory, don't the resolutions call for the removal of CM among others?
-
What Traynor is confirming is that there is a battle going on right now for control of our Club. On the one side there are the City Blues, Malcolm Murray & Co and in the "Green" corner are ranged his investor group. Fighting will continue until one side buys the other out. Control is available but so far no one has come up with the dosh and there is an argument over the price. The MM group are trying to ally themselves with ex Blue Knights e.g. PM; McColl has been asked to put up the money or most of the money. He is disgusted with all of them. It is likely that the situation will be resolved in the next 10 days or so. Irrespective of who wins, costs have to be cut especially McCoist & Co (see other thread). (Haven't posted in a while for a variety of reasons, including thought I was barred, turns out just a password reset required [thanks Bluedell/Frankie!] and haven't had a chance to read the current threads thoroughly so if this post would be better in another thread happy for one of the Admin's to move it.)

Yes but 3 Scottish Internationalists with a total of 1100+ appearances to guide them.
-
I think that is spot on. How about him saying "I couldn't get the players up for this one until it was too late and I am tactically inept into the bargain". Green was out of order but that's a matter for the Board not the Manager.
-
They stood with a clipboard trying to figure out the obvious for at least 10 mins, possibly as long as 15 mins before going 3 at the back and sending McCulloch up front, losing 1-0 in a one off cup tie.
-
4 internationals on the park but none as old as Marvin.
-
There is some truth in this. At the time of the share offer theirwages had been reduced in line with the cuts the player's took, from memory Ally was on about £135,000, I'll stand to be corrected on the exact figure. However at some point they all got their pay hiked back up, which would put Ally on about £750k and the other two the same between them; again I'll stand to be corrected on the exact figures. At these levels they are obviously massively overpaid whether we win SPFL1 or not. Green is back at the behest of the investor group that he brought in with a remit to cut costs. A useful question might be, who exactly appointed him. My guess is that it was put to the board that you either appoint him or we're pulling the plug. Walter, being a man of honour wanted no part and so has fallen on his sword. Ally & Co will be made an offer they will most likely refuse and probably will then be sacked at the first available opportunity.

"Last year's team" including 4 internationals weren't good enough to beat Forfar; they were up for it from the kick-off and we weren't, simples. We had plenty of pressure in the second half but the only time we threatened was when McCulloch went up front; a certain 37 year old CB had Little in his pocket until then.

On the contrary Zappa, it has precisely the opposite effect. The competition is completely uncompetitve or at least it was up to this season. The team finishing first gets almost four times (3.8) what the team finishing 12th gets. So via the allocation of central resources, the team finishing first is awarded a substantial resource advantage which gives it an advantage to win the league the following season. And that’s before we consider the even greater financial advantages to be secured by achieving some success in European competition. The result has been that only two clubs have ever won the SPL and only three have ever been second (the same two as have been first and Hearts, though only once). I don't see that as "worthwhile competition". A more equitable distribution of the money will improve competition, just ask someone like Peter Houston what he could do with an extra £250,000 a year; I have, and his answer is that it would take them a round or two further in the European competitions and allow them to mount a more consistent challenge in the league.

There is a lot I could say about Aberdeen Asset Management but it doesn't belong here.
-
I'll take the bet. "We understand that there needs to be a lot of redistribution from the biggest clubs and that is something the clubs in principle bought into today." Neil Doncaster today.
