I am sorry to tell you that it is not even 1/30th of peanuts because the bulk of the money approx £1M of the £2M goes to the SFL1. Third division teams get £50,000 per season at present out of the £2 milion that goes from the SPL to the SFL. (Unless Rangers have been able to do a special deal, which I very much doubt.) Lawwell is on the Board of the SPL (and shortly will be on the main Board of the SFA) and it is predominately the SPL's TV deal, so like it or not he has every right to be there.

First of many in Jig time, hopefully. If you click on the pic, you can see it full size, maybe one of the admin can sort it so it shows in full size.

As I get set to head for the bus to Brechin, I am reminded that this journey through 30 towns and cities in Scotland mirrors the journey I first set out on in Europe 9 years ago (and here I pay tribute to those who have been following Rangers in Europe a lot longer than me) where I have been fortunate to have seen 32 matches in exactly 30 different stadia in 21 countries I don’t expect Brechin to boost anything resembling the Rathaus in Bremen, I doubt Annan will be able to match the Acropolis in Athens, Livingston the fountains of Lisbon or Falkirk the art of Florence. Perhaps Montrose can rival Manchester, that wouldn’t be difficult; but wherever we go, we will follow on. More anon……

Off to bed, on the bus at 11.00am.

In the future, Portugal and possibly Greece (when it finally drops out of the Euro) would be a very good place for us to look for talented players because our standard of living is much higher and they could use us as a proving ground.

Don't have any problem with her or any other woman refereeing women's football.

Did you say big calls

Porto is an excellent example of a club that is well led and managed in an area of Portugal that struggles to compete economically with Lisbon but has had outstanding success.
-
My personal opinion is that women's football is a joke and you only have to watch a few minutes of the Olympic games to see the truth of that (and if you think that the refereeing in the SPL/SFL is bad just watch some of the women whistlers and don't start me on women refs and linesman, sorry assistant refs, in the men's game). But I don' think there is any need to dismiss ANYONE male or female who plays in the Royal Blue, with foul language, it is possible to make the point quite well without resorting to that. BTW, it is not just Rangers, the SFA spend fortunes promoting the women's game, that would be much better utilised elswhere.

May not have had time to register them after the agreement was struck. I'm guessing that the first priority was to sign them, then worry about registration later and it may need to wait till it is fully confirmed next week.

You talk about 4-3-3 like it's something new. Us old timers can remember when Alf Ramsey invented 4-3-3 in the '66 World Cup!

Hutton, Edu, Bedoya & Black wouldn't be a bad midfield in any league in Scotland; though Black will need to screw the nut; teams will be out to wind him up and that's not difficult. So how about: :na: :kb::dg: :kh::me::ab:Black :al::lm:

Kyle does look like he's carrying a few extra pounds and with his unfortunate injury record, it's a No from BH. Little deserves a run alongside McCulloch and if I had to chose I would take Beattie but I'm equally sure others will come along including Boyd but probably not this season.
-
I think he will play the best team he has available, which would be the above, if Little has signed and I would think Hutton would play if fit. The likes of Goian, Bocanegra and Edu will all want to play to keep sharp regardless of it being Brechin. IF and it's obviously a big IF we kept that defence, I doubt we'd lose many goals in the League.
-
That's a smokescreen if ever I saw one, why would a web site update exclude Rangers but not Brechin? Updated to remove Rangers maybe........
-
The OP was based on the fact that our name appears to have been removed from the tie and the competition plus my own knowledge of how rules normally work in this type of situation e.g. you might get a postponement if half your team is down with the flu but not if your team doesn't have a licence to play at all. That said they are all making up rules as they go along, so who knows; but I'd like to book the train, please!

Another golden oldie offers to help out Rangers-windass

Dean Windass at 43, give me a break -
Interesting contrast, with the game moved to Tuesday the 7th of August at Bayview I see (why did I think we were at home?). Perhaps the SFL KNOW that we will not now get a licence in time for Sunday but are confident we will have one for the week after or at least don't want to rule that out at this stage.

Well, we aren't now; what does that tell you?

According to the BBC, we are bottom of the league: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers -
That is an extremely short-sighted view IMHO. St Johnstone have earned us exactly half a point in the coefficients for this draw and we are currently 50th out of 53 this season, with only San Marino, Andorra, and Liechtenstein below us. If other Scottish teams are no more successful, then by the time we get back into Europe in 2016 we will be in severe danger of having to start in the 1st Qualifying Round of the CL or EL. The only advantage I can see to that, is that it might encourage summer football by default.

I want to stress that this is just speculation on my part and I haven't been able to check the rules as they are not on the SFL web site, so far as I can see; but on the web site the game appears as: Sunday 29th July 2012 15:05 Brechin City v (blank space) Glebe Park. In addition, Rangers or The Rangers are not listed as one of the teams taking part in the competition, which makes sense as we don't have a licence to play. Now, I haven't looked at this before so I don't know if Rangers were EVER listed to play this match but if they were and have now been removed then there is an obvious implication. It would be completely wrong to assume that if Rangers are not granted a licence by the SFA, the game will simply be postponed, it is much more likely that if we cannot play the game on the arranged date, that we would simply forfeit the tie. In these circumstances there might also be an argument about money paid for tickets. Brechin could claim legitimately that they have had all the expenses and if we fail to get a licence that is not their fault so they could argue that money paid (at least by Rangers fans) is also forfeit. However, they would have a problem with that because the tickets are not segregated for home or away fans, although they ARE numbered so they would know which ones were sold by Rangers; but one assumes that Rangers would not hand over money, because fans (me included) would want their money back. In addition, as far as the 1500 tickets sold locally are concerned they wouldn't be able to identify who to refund so they wouldn't have much choice other than to refund everyone. There is nothing printed on the tickets about what happens if the game isn't played. That said, I think Brechin would have a claim to get some kind of recompense.
