What exactly does Liewell do at the SFA ?
BrahimHemdani replied to RANGERRAB's topic in Rangers Chat
You will find its powers listed at Article 64.3 on page 65 of the SFA Handbook http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SFAPublications/ScottishFApublications2011-12/Scottish%20FA%20Handbook.pdf as it's a pdf I couldn't copy it for you but it is responsible for "driving the development of the professional game in Scotland". -
2012/13 - SFL3 2013/14 - SFL2 2014/15 - SFL1 Ban ends 2015/16 - SPL (need to qualify) 2016/17 - Europe again? So in all probability it will be 5 seasons i.e. 4 years from now. Unless there is a reorganisation or we win the cup in the third season i.e. whilst we are playing in SFL1, in which case it could be a season earlier.

Lawwell currently sits on the Professional Game Board to which he was elected at its inauguration last year. It is not a paid position. The members are Chairman: Rod Petrie (Scottish FA) Jim Ballantyne (SFL), Neil Doncaster (SPL), Peter Lawwell (SPL), David Longmuir (SFL), Alan McRae (Scottish FA), Campbell Ogilvie (Scottish FA), Stewart Regan (Scottish FA), Sandy Stables (SHFL) and Ralph Topping (SPL). The SPL are allowed three representatives on the PGB "who shall be nominated in writing by the SPL" – the others are the SPL Chief Executive (who goes on automatically) currently Neil Doncaster and Lawwell. Ralph Topping resigned in May and Celtic Finance Director, Eric Riley took his place. So at that point Celtic had two members on the PGB, which seems very odd to say the least (even if it was already assumed that Lawwell would step up to the main Board). The PGB nominates one person to the main Board. The main Board consists of seven members: the Office Bearers (Stewart Regan, Chief Executive; Campbell Ogilvie, President; Alan McRae, First Vice-President, and Rod Petrie, Second Vice-President), plus Ralph Topping (SPL), Tom Johnston (Junior FA) and Barrie Jackson, the Scottish FA’s first-ever independent non-executive director. Therefore the obvious candidate to replace Topping would be Lawwell, since it is highly unlikely that it would be considered appropriate to elect Doncaster, (although it is not specifically excluded in the Rules). -

I really appreciate the high number of members who have thanked me for the OP; it was easy and simple to obtain the information. I realise now that there was one thing that I forgot to mention and I will edit the OP accordingly: The email renewal will contain the same options as in previous year's i.e. Away League Games, Home and Away Cup Ties (not sure about the the first game in Communities Cup, which is usually included) etc; therefore those who did not complete the original form will have a second opportunity and will not lose out. -

This is not funny, if these Scottish teams don't do anything in Europe over the next 3/4 seasons by the time we're back in Europe in 2016, our coefficient will be so low that we'll be lucky to start in the CL or EL Q2. -

SPL to SFL3, 30% off doesn't sit well with me; but I'll pay up for the team. -

That would put MRE at £385 which is ridiculous in my opinion. Presumably it also means £19/20 per game on a single ticket basis, twice what other clubs in the SFL3 charge. Presumably it also means -20% in SFL2 and -10% in SFL1. -
Maybe Bedoya will find his level?

If that's correct then in my case it would be £366, which is more than twice the typical cost in Div 3 e./g. Berwick Rangers £10/£150. -
Thanks for this information. How many were purchased and how many have been sold?

first move by opening talks with Dean Shiels
BrahimHemdani replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
A bit extreme -
Without a doubt we were The Rangers Football Club plc and we will shortly become The Rangers Football Club Ltd. "There's not a team like The Glasgow Rangers" and we are most often known abroad as "Glasgow Rangers" or sometimes simply "Glasgow".

I spoke to the ticket office on Friday (being one of those who indicated that they would not renew till I knew what division we were in and how much was being charged). This is the current position, subject to SFA membership approval: A fresh application will be issued (by email to those who have registered their email address) as soon as the membership and hence participation in SFL3 is approved (although there now seems to be the added complications of trophies and a share of the SFL TV money) The staff in the ticket office do not know the prices as yet (they may have been decided but they do not have them or have been instructed not to release the information); A new deadline will be set; My suggestion that because the amount will be a lot lower than in recent years and the Fastpay DDM scheme failed, a one off payment will be required; was met with "it will be in the letter"; Existing seats have been reserved for all last season's ticket holders and will be maintained pending the new deadline. The email renewal will contain the same options as in previous year's i.e. Away League Games, Home and Away Cup Ties (not sure about the the first game in Communities Cup, which is usually included) etc; therefore those who did not complete the original form will have a second opportunity and will not lose out. first move by opening talks with Dean Shiels
BrahimHemdani replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
Surely this is our opportunity, necessity even, to blood the young players, assuming we still have some that is. Dean Shiels is a decent player and so is Ian Black but I would never have him walk through the doors at Ibrox after what he did to Jelavic. And Gary Kenneth, give me a break -
SPL wants Rangers media rights or else NO Rangers.
BrahimHemdani replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
The SFL and Longmuir in particular will not WANT to back down to the SFA/SPL (Longmuir has little time for Regan and even less for Doncaster) but all these things are a matter of negotiation right now and half a cake that you didn't have before might be worth a great deal to the lower division clubs who stand to lose their £50,000/year lifeline from the SPL because of the loss of the TV deal. -

In theory you are correct but in practice you need to bear in mind that whatever Regan discusses with Ally McCoist, Green et al, he still has to get past his Board, which has a representative from the SPL (or should have, Ralph Topping having stood down and Lawwell in line for his place) and there is also the Professional Game Board with three SPL representaives below the main Board. The matter would probably go to the PGB first for a recommendation to the main Board, hence the issue. Morally and you would think legally the SPL have no entitlement whatsoever to our media rights but it seems to me that they want to exert to their pound of flesh. Having refused our application on the grounds of "sporting integrity", the result is that they have cost themsleves mega amounts of money, probably about £10M a season perhaps as much as £16M, around £500,000 - £1,000,000 per club and they are obviously looking at how they can recoup that loss. Unfortunately for us, we are in the last chance saloon, and they know it; so the only way out might be court as others suggest. -

That's an interesting point but it depends on what you mean by "depends on". From a structural point of view, they do now because the SPL has one person on the main board and three on the professional game board; but not from a financial point of view, as I think I am correct in saying that most of the SFA's money is from international matches and sponsorship. The SPL has a high degree of influence over the SFA, might be a better way to put it! Don't forget also that their offices are literally along the same corridor at Hampden, which is not as silly a point as it might seem.

Two withdraw from Appellate Tribunal to rule on Rangers
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
See #108 in the "registration ban" thread I don't see how they can do that. In the case of Lord Calloway, he put himself in a position by sitting on the Tribunal where a judge of similar standing sitting in a different court could overrule him and that's exactly what happened. So hsi position became untenable. Other judges will most likely take the same view and refuse to sit on the Tribunals for that reason, so the chairs will be senior lawyers most likely in future. Your second point was well made by dB aweek or two back; you could hardly see Borussia Dortmund being allowed to vote on sanctions against Bayern Munich now could you? It would be laughed out of the Bundesliga or the DfB.
