Green & Murray are absolutely right about this; obviously told Brown to put his money where his mouth is and quite right too. Piss off and let them get on with running the Club.

MTK, I don't think you can ever "buy back your history" but it would appear that they bought the rights to the name one year after going bankrupt, although they used a version of it incorporating "e Florentia Viola " in 2002/03 which might tend to suggest that they were still widely known by the nickname Viola, even if they weren't playing in purple. However, it is not clear from the article if it was the shirt colour or the badge or some other aspect of the design that is meant by "famous shirt design". I don't see how anyone could stop them playing in whatever colour they wanted, the badge is another matter. I did a bit of googling and found a team picture from 2002/03 in white strips with a purple band but that could have been an away strip. There is also an image of a match ticket in purple with what appears to be the normal logo. I have edited this a little from Wikipedia:

On the other hand, I recall being asked in the main square in Lisbon in 2008, why Rangers fans carried the "British Flag" not not the "Scottish Flag" but that is a whole other ball game and it's late.............
-
No they don't.

Someone else puts in a better application; better might mean that the third division clubs can beat whoever it is. Mind you you would need to know the criteria for membership, no doubt to be found in the SFL's Rules.
-
But my feeling is that they will reject what is on the table and just say that Rangers will have to apply for the vacancy in SFL3 alongside anyone else who cares to apply and the application will be judged on its merits.
-
Correct and one can only hope they think on it wisely.

I certainly agree with you on that (the first thing we have agreed on for some time perhaps) nor do I think they should be pontificating about renaming of Murray Park. The Chair of RFFF has always had a conflict of interest IMHO since he represents Messrs McCoist and Durrant and quite possibly others as well. And for the avoidance of doubt that comment is not meant to impugn his personal integrity in any way. BTW why did Andy Smillie resign?
-
To be clear then, since you remain a Board member of RST, you don't know if Mr Dingwall is representing RST on RFFF? Is that really your position and if so is it the position of your colleagues? If Mr Dingwall is not representing RST on RFFF, who is he representing, himself, FF or whoever or whatever?

I hope you made a formal complaint

If Rangers are reformed as a newco with "Rangers" somewhere in the name, then I don't think there is any doubt that we retain the history; as I've said a number of times on here if you check the UEFA web site you will see that AC and ACF Fiorentina are regarded as the same club with the same history. http://www.uefa.com/teamsandplayers/teams/club=52817/profile/index.html But if we were to buy another club (East Stirling were mentioned some time ago) and rename it then I think the comparisons with Airdrie & Airdrie Utd are accurate. Airdireonians died and a new club was born. Whilst I don't think that is ilkely, equally it is not an impossible scenario; if the SFL do not vote to admit us at all.

Exactly the point I was making, Pete.
-
Yes but you cannot deny that 4 days earlier, you were advising members not to renew in a bid to oust Mr Green, were you not; that is the comparison I made with John Brown, equally irresponsible. In any event as I understand it the RFFF advised fans after meeting Mr Green, TO RENEW; and as has been discussed in another thread it would appear that your representative and and your organisation does not understand the doctrine of collective responsibility in that respect.
-
What I said and I stand by it based on the above statement is that advising people not to renew season tickets in a bid to oust Green (and support your latest favourite candidate) was irresponsible.
-
I think there were some very late votes cast!
-
Former players demanded fees as well as free drink to appear at RST dinners, that was just as bad in my opinion.

Some one needs to take him aside and tell him he's embarrassing himself and the Club.

RFFF meeting with fans reps - 4/7/12
BrahimHemdani replied to Tannochsidebear's topic in Rangers Chat
So where can I read this remit then? Do you accept that most fans are not members of any club or association? -
I never took one because I asked a few questions at the time, like "how mcuh of a donation" and never got any answers.
-
I think that sums it up rather neatly.

Arsenal, of course, are named after Woolwich Arsenal: (Wikipedia)

Interesting that no one thinks it will go to penalties.

Interesting philosophy to challenge "stupid bank rules" http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/jul/29/metro-high-street-bank-opens and a very competitive credit card http://www.money.co.uk/credit-cards/card-issuers/Metro-Bank-Credit-Card.htm I think I'm correct in saying that they also run CC's for other brands. "it now has over 80,000 accounts" http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/41a6d76c-b2e8-11e1-a1d4-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1zMN7ybfn

No one can argue that the correct name is "Rangers" or "The Rangers" but the expression "the famous Glasgow Rangers" is well known and well used especially in the context used by the OP. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to travel abroad following our team also know well that we are often referred to as "Glasgow Rangers" (or even simply "Glasgow") in a way that Celtic never are or will be.

We'll need everyone we can get but how many of the 13 will still be here when they see it's the 3rd division?
