Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020
BrahimHemdani replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
As previously mentioned my sources down south say that the Arsenal scouts are unimpressed with his attitude and performances for us and have advised Wenger to put him on the transfer list. -

Isn't it or wasn't it a twofur £400,000? Edit: Better still if we get them for next to nothing in the summer. -

Slight bit of peotic licence on Kiernan but 5 of the 9 teams he played for in the 5 seasons before joining us were in League Two inc Accrington. Perhaps I should have said "who came from a mainly League Two background". Crooks as a CB came from here: Following his return in mid-February, Crooks was praised for his return from injury and playing as a central defence....... Crooks finally made his first team début at centre back for the Terriers in the 4–0 defeat by A.F.C. Bournemouth on 9 August 2014 in the opening game of the season https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Crooks but he does appear to be a versatile player. -

Firstly the team have shown in the last two matches that they are perfectly well capable of sweeping all opposition aside in this division. Secondly, I remain unconvinced that English League two players will make the required difference. I am unimpressed by Kiernan who came from Accrington and to my mind is error prone and struggling above his level. Looking at their records, Windass may well be a gem who has never played elsewhere than Accrington and may be too good for them; but Crooks couldn't make the breakthrough at Championship Huddersfield and may have found his level having moved up from non league at Halifax. However, it seems his preferred position is CB and that is certainly an area we need to look at. That said he's only 21 like Windass so you never know. -

I don't see this as an issue. In the unlikely event that they don't play them then (they won't get injured and) they will still get a full pre-season with the rest of the squad and there's the reformatted LC as well. I think we are on a no lose situation here. -

I fail to see the point of paying any fee for players we don't appear to need now and will be available free at the end of the season. -
That's interesting, BG, I always thought it was a set percentage but The Home club must make provision for the admission of such reasonable number of visiting supporters at every home League Match and Play-Off Match as may be agreed in advance with the Visiting Club and, in the event of their being unable to agree such number not later than 14 days prior to the date of the League Match or Play-Off Match in question, the number of visiting supporters allowed shall be determined by the Board whose decision shall be final and binding. obviously leaves it wide open. I believe I am correct in saying we used to get around 7,000 for Parkhead and presumably Celtic got all 8,000 for the Broamloan or less depending on seating restrictions? So we would need to sell out all three other stands totalling about 40,500 before this becomes a consideration. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stadium_stands_by_capacity On purely fiancial grounds I make it the two games v Celtic are worth about £350,000 in ticket sales (2x say 7,000 @£25 net of VAT) less the cost of policing which might be quite high, so we would need to sell roughly 1,000 season tickets for the Broamloan on top of everywhere else to make it financialy worthwhile (which would mean say 41,500 -42,000 overall). Of course, I appreciate that that might not be the primary consideration. Whether we want to aim to sell out the ground to season tickets as happens in some American Football grounds is another matter. We have had the experience of not allowing Celtic fans in the past and I would suggest that the atmosphere is better with than without them and I for one want to be able to support my team at Parkhead and elsewhere, whenever possible. If we could sell out the three other stands to 40,000 season tickets, that would be great, and I would keep the Boamloan for those who cannot commit to a ST for whatever reason, family tickets, visiting fans etc.

I would suggest that the police might consider Celtic a different scenario.

OK here's the update. Apparently, the restaurant has become more popular with Rangers fans both pre and post match, which is allowing the owner, Sanjay, to put a bit more pressure on us this time. It's also understandable in view of what happened last May. The restaurant holds 35 but they will still close it for us provided we can commit to 25 people by a week before i.e. Saturday 23rd. Also they no longer do the £10 deal on match days (and bear in mind that we got full a la carte 3 courses for that ridiuculously cheap price last time) but I still managed to negotiate £12 all in. So allowing for a guest I can charge £12.50 per head. (We also have £69.15 in the kitty which we can find a way to use up, no suggestions required.) The Menu is unchanged from last time except in terms of desserts which will be restricted to ensure better service on this occasion. Spiced poppadoms will be provided as we gather. They will then offer a Chefs Platter of Starters consisting of: Mixed Pakora; Chicken Chaat, Aloo Tikki, Seekh Kebaba and Chicken Tikka. Guests will then have a free choice from the full a la carte menu featuring: Tandoori chicken, lamb, king prawns etc; and a full range of cooked to order in-house specials including Korma, Bhoona, Biryani, Chasni, Jaipuri, Masala, Nashli, Malaidar, Shakuti, Rogan Josh, Balti, Patia, Dhansac etc. Nan bread, chapattis and boiled rice as required. European dishes are available if required: Sirloin Steak Breaded Haddock & Chips Chicken & Chips but these need to be pre-ordered. A variety of Desserts will be available including the traditional Indian hot Gulab Jamin with ice cream. Guest Speaker I am still working on this and hope to be able to make an announcement later in the week Price & Payment The price for all of the above will be an extremely modest £12.50 per person. In view of the low price I do not propose to take deposits and again with the experience of last May in mind, for the avoidance of doubt, there will be no refunds after 23 January, unless in exceptional circumstances. My decison on that will be final, subect to appeal to the site admin. For those who have attended the previous dinners the same bank details will apply for payment. Please quote your Gersnet name as a reference. For anyone who hasn’t saved those details or newcomers please PM me for the bank account details. Please post to the thread when you have sent payment and I will confirm.

It would be extremely difficult if not impossible to police if you had 2,000 - 3,000 Celtic fans surrounded on both sides and from above (let's say) by Rangers fans and no doubt Celtic would retaliate in terms of tickets.

Apologies for the delay in confirming arrangements for the Dinner, which we decided in November, would be after the Falkirk game on 30 January 2016. I have been working on a guest speaker but unfortunately when Mr Gilligan heard that the Gunslinger would more than likely be in attendance (car breakdowns permitting) he followed Mr Robertson by deciding that he had a prior engagement. I am still 90% confident that we will have a noteworthy speaker but will not be able to confirm until later in the week. However, given the probability of a speaker I have made an executive decision to return to the Indian Brasserie Restaurant, 560 Paisley Road West, Glasgow G51 1RF (just round the corner from Copland Rd). As last time the owner will close the restaurant for us if we can bring at least 20 people. Based on past experience, the only viable alternative is Malaga Tapas, scene of the first two dinners, but Cristobal no longer has the place next door and cannot give us the main restaurant to ourselves. A short history for new Gersnetters. The first dinner was in Malaga Tapas on 26 April 2014. 12 people attended and GS remarked "never seen so much food as at Malaga Tapas". The second was at the same venue (but in the cafe next door) on 6 December 2014. Undoubtedly this was our biggest success so far, when more than 20 attendees heard Dave Smith as guest speaker, on the road from Berwick via Nuremburg to Barcelona. The most recent dinner, on 17 May 2015, turned into a bit of a nightmare due to the uncertainty of the play off games, dates and times. We had decided by the narrowest of margins to go to the Indian Brasserie but unfortunately only 9 of the 18 who had booked eventually passed through the doors. Let's just say that some had better excuses than others. This was doubly embarrassing in terms of the restaurant that turned away other bookings and the guest speaker, Rangers Historian, Robert McElroy. Those who were there heard a very interesting speech on Rangers: The War Years. So aside from anything else, I do feel that we "owe" the restaurant (and I will also invite Robert) and I hope there will be a much bigger turnout this time. I will confirm price/menu etc tomorrow but don't expect it to be markedly different from last time (£10.75 for 3 course meal).
