  1. Simon Catto is no mug. He is the lawyer who successfully represented Whittaker and Naismith against Charles Green's charges of breach of contract and obtained their International Clearance Certificates from the SFA. He also successfully represented Dunfermline against the SFA in 2010 when they were thrown out the Cup for playing an ineligible player.
  2. I don't buy that, it was working very well as far as I am concerned and much much better than the old system.
  3. That's obviously true because there's no way 50,000 people are going to be online at one time even if you could design a system to deal with that which I think is highly unlikely (but would be interested in expert comment).
  4. The wifi before the upgrade mentioned was very poor but following the work (perhaps in relation to or paid for or supposed to be paid for by the Commonwealth games as Zappa says) presumably by this company it improved out of all recognition; so it is unfair of anyone to cast any aspersions on the quality of the work. So far as I know it was turned off entirely at the start off the season and in this day and age even some those of us who have a bus pass would like to be able to get online at half time for example. The issue with kids being bored is also true. I understood it was turned off by Rangers as a cost saving measure but perhaps the company turned it off because the bill wasn't paid, who knows.
  5. I certainly was going to ask him about Benitez' sacking. I'm not sure if he'll be familiar with Warburton's tactics let alone his lack of a plan B, so as you say it might be best to prime him advance. His son works as a physio for one of the Russian teams, so there might be an angle there as well. I'm not sure that I make the best journalist but I'll see what I can do.
  6. Something you could have done quite easily by stating the fact as you have done now; without posting an article based on an event that you yourself agree had nothing whatsoever to do with the OP.
  7. So sorry about that rbr, we will genuinely miss you but I will use your story!
  8. One thing I'm sure of is that my good friend FS does not need any assistance or guidance from you as he is by no means shy at coming forward when he feels the need.
  9. 12/01/2016 Counter Credit MO ALI (PARTY OF 8) BGC £140.00 BALANCE £524.15 That's 29 now fully paid and a non member party of 2/3 to come through from the waiting list. Note that the above new member kindly included a donation of £20 towards the kitty.
  10. You do indeed (make plenty of mistakes); "Grammar" is spelled with an "a". As to your question, FS will not be slow in responding to my comment if he feels the need.
  11. Thank you for the correction to my typo, I do know the difference. I'll ignore your standard offensive comment.
  12. You're the one that raised it by posting the article.
  13. If Bell is fit, it's incomprehensible that we wouldn't want him to out on loan possibly with a buy out clause; so the only reason we have refused it might be because there is another deal in the offing.
  14. Not sure what sexual violence in Cologne or Glasgow has to do with Rangers withdrawing advertising from the Herald, unless you would wish to censor the piece that has offended you.
  15. My wife and I are meeting them for lunch on the Sunday, so I'll see if I can arrange that. Subject? The state of Spanish football?
  16. I won't copy BJ's very interesting piece but suffice to say that Rangers first played 4-2-4 with Ian McMillan as the deep lying inside right and Jim Baxter as the attacking left half back in the early 60's. "In those days managers didn't tell you what to do; the players just did their own thing," says McMillan. "The manager picked the team but that was all. We basically played a 4-2-4 at Rangers. Jim Baxter and I were in the middle of the park. We didn't plan it; it was just the way it worked out. The job of Baxter and was to get the ball to our strikers." http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/13147094.Spiers_on_Saturday__meeting_Ian_McMillan__the_Wee_Prime_Minister_of_Ibrox/ "Scot Symon was a very successful Rangers manager, but he just left everything to the players. It was totally up to us to do what we did on the park. You heard nothing, no instruction, coming from the dugout. In those days the manager wasn't even there, Mr Symon was up in the directors' box. The players were left to their own devices." I would also mention a snow cleared pitch on the night of 3 March 1965 when I stood shivering on the terracing watching Rangers come within a George McLean missed header of knocking the legendary Helenio Herrara's catenaccio style Inter Milan out of the quarter final of their back to back winning European Cup. Inter were the effective world champions at that time, having beaten Independiente in the Intercontinental Cup. They also proved that with the right players even a defensive style could overcome famous attacking sides like Real Madrid (3-1), albeit incredibly Puskas and Di Stefano were 37 and 38 respectively in the 1964 Final; and Eusebio's Benfica 1-0 in 1965. Albertz notwithstanding, I'm not sure that I could agree with the description of Advocaat's Rangers as adopting a homogeneous brute force 4-4-2 system when we bossted the likes of such talented players as Ferguson, van Bronkhorst, Mols, Kanchelskis, and Reyna. Unfortunately when it came to 2008, we didn't have an Inter Milan type Luis Suarez generalling our team (perhaps Ferguson and Hemdani combined might have made such a player) and were well beaten by Zenit. If I might offer a correction, we certainly didn't play 4-4-2 in the Final, we only had one striker, Jean-Claude Darcheville and lined up 4-1-4-1: Alexander; Broadfoot,Weir,Cuéllar,Papac; Hemdani; Whittaker,Ferguson,Davis,Thomson Darcheville Whether Warburton ever aspires to the level of the great Rangers managers like Struth, Symon or Smith never mind Advocaat remains to be seen. Plan A appears to work pretty well at our current level but we will need better personnel and a Plan B as we move up, not to mention a European Plan as well.
  17. No worries, MB, I kept a place for you! I need to double check this but I think, you, me and FS will be the only ever presents. 12/01/2016 M CRAWFORD £15.00 BALANCE £384.15 So that's 21 paid tickets; in addition to which I have 8 confirmed to a new member to be paid today and 2 more for a wait listed non member, which if taken up will be 31 sold. I also need two seats for the guests, so that's pretty much it folks; but if there's anyone else, I'll see if we can squeeze you in!
  18. I enjoyed reading your analysis as ever and have learned a new tactical expression under-lap. I won't even bother with any thoughts about Zelalem "always looking to play balls forward" because they almost always went straight to the opposition; I know you are a fan of his recycling and you know I prefer the more direct approach of Law and Shiels. However, I must disagree with this comment: (Agree about the two lines of four, defensive block.) From my position behind Marvin Andrews, Cowden had 2 up until the last few minutes when they were on their knees and had subbed Smith who was more or less unable to move by then; but previously I didn't see drop back into midfield as you suggest. No question Barry McKay was the man of the match by a country mile.

  20. Let's be honest with ourselves about this; if these two were as good as is being made out would they have spent the last four seasons (Crooks) and three seasons (Windass) in the Conference/League Two, mostly with Accrington Stanley? £1m is way too much to pay for a player, Toumani Diagouraga, who despite his apparent "coming of age" in the Championship with Brentford, essentially is a journeyman footballer from the English lower leagues (9 seasons) who will be 29 in June. Can anyone on here honestly say that they had heard of him before this all blew up? I know Transfermarket is not necessarilly the font of all wisdom on this but they have never rated him above £300k and even now only £350k.
  21. It's a yellow card nothing more; can't see what it has to do with the OP or why we are debating that on here anyway. They can stick flares up their dark places for all I care.
  22. I tend to be relatively sanguine about newspaper stuff but even if it wasn't "deliberately inflammatory" the editor must have known it would be viewed as such and the defence of "it's truthfull" really doesn't wash, because the issue could have been avoided and the same point made if the player's first name had been added to the headline. I don't buy newspapers since I stopped getting the FT so know nothing of the history but perhaps it was the proverbial straw..... That said, I would never ban a journalist, I don't care what they write unless it is downright lies on matters of fact rather than opinion and only then after several warnings and opportunities to withdraw and/or correct. I am in the SDM camp on this; and you know that his view was if you don't like what they write don't buy the paper, so I suppose don't advertise in it is just an extension of that principle.
  23. I was careful not to say that it was, Scott; but the statement makes it clear that there was prior contact with the newspaper.
