  1. Law drives the team forward, for the most part Zelalem drives it sideways and as even you would admit, FS, Law's season has been beset and interrupted by injury. However, there is a big difference between Law and Zelalem, Law scores goals and also makes assists (albeit not as many as Zelalem), Zelalem doesn't score goals.
  2. Just call me BH, BJ, most folk around here do, when they're being civil
  3. I know you're not a paid up member of his fan club FS nor is the guy who sits next to me, who will be equally apoplectic; but look at how our performances have turned around since he came back into the team, facts speak for themselves.
  4. Not sure which winners you mean trb. The UEFA Europa League winners will be rewarded with a place in the UEFA Champions League in one of several notable changes introduced to further boost the appeal of a competition which promises to go from strength to strength. If you mean the national cup winners, then yes, that still applies. Check out the qualification access list on the oft mentioned and wonderful Bert Kassises site http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/access2015.html As things stand at present our cup winners start in ELQ2 as you may remember this season and looks like that might still apply next season; after that it's problematic.
  5. Not so Trueblue, the qualification citeria were changed last season. Performances in domestic leagues will be rewarded. If a national cup winner has booked a UEFA Champions League spot, the highest-ranked club in their domestic league not already qualified for the UEFA Europa League will qualify for the competition; national cup runners-up no longer qualify. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2137611.html
  6. and there's a reasonable posssibility of European football on the horizon, albeit it might well start in Azerbaijan.
  7. Oduwa is good at playing on concrete playgrounds apparently that's where he was "discovered"; time he went back there.
  8. Welcome to Gersnet. Do you not think we need an out and out striker and a better quality of CB than Kiernan?
  9. I'll be shocked and disappointed if Law (28 in March) does not get a new 2 year deal and I think Shiels might get a one year offer. Aside from Wallace and Miller (can he continue to prove most of us wrong and be a goalscoring 36/37 year old in the SPFL?) who already have contracts and to a lesser extent Templeton (who has little time left to prove his worth, especially with the arrival of Forrester and perhaps others) Law and Shiels are the only ones with proven experience in the top flight.
  10. Aside from a few minutes of the Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia World Champion Pipe Band which according to the watch on one of the piper's wrists was recorded about 9.00pm
  11. Not sure who looked more uncomfortable but that Phil Cunningham can fair play the box.
  12. Any chance of merging with the one I started last night? Just in case, happy new year to all Gersnetters.
  13. Not many people do, Ian. But in this case, I've seen Templeton play and know what he can do. Plus he had a decent career with Hearts at the level to which we now aspire and is still only 26 so he can do it again. Forrester's career, such as it has been, appears to be on a downward spiral and I think the answers are there for all to read in the DR article.
  14. I would very happily welcome Templeton back especially if MW explains to him that he doesn't have to beat the entire opposition team every time he goes on a run.
  15. I think a member of the public at a match could approach an officer and make a complaint then it would be up to the officer whether he felt an offence had been committed. The Club have indeed said TBB is not allowed as dB has detailed; though perhaps it would bear repeating. Good night, happy New Year when it comes.
  16. Let's get real about this. If you had the choice Ajax or Doncaster Rovers, who would you sign for?
  17. Kiernan is an English League Two player, pure and simple.
  18. A police officer on the day but it would then be up to the Special PF to decide whether to proceed.
  19. TBB is banned by UEFA. Any fans at any football ground are liable to prosecution if they commit an offence under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012
  20. That's a different point Ian, if I may say. No one will be arrested inside a football ground for signing a sectraina chant only where: The behaviour is— (a)expressing hatred of, or stirring up hatred against, a group of persons based on their membership (or presumed membership) of— (i)a religious group, (ii)a social or cultural group with a perceived religious affiliation, (iii)a group defined by reference to a thing mentioned in subsection (4), (b)expressing hatred of, or stirring up hatred against, an individual based on the individual’s membership (or presumed membership) of a group mentioned in any of sub-paragraphs (i) to (iii) of paragraph (a), ©behaviour that is motivated (wholly or partly) by hatred of a group mentioned in any of those sub-paragraphs, (d)behaviour that is threatening, or (e)other behaviour that a reasonable person would be likely to consider offensive. (3)For the purposes of subsection (2)(a) and (b), it is irrelevant whether the hatred is also based (to any extent) on any other factor. (4)The things referred to in subsection (2)(a)(iii) are— (a)colour, (b)race, ©nationality (including citizenship), (d)ethnic or national origins, (e)sexual orientation, (f)transgender identity, (g)disability. and in the opinion of a Police Officer the behaviour— (i)is likely to incite public disorder, or (ii)would be likely to incite public disorder.
  21. The poster was referring to the song being banned by UEFA not the Police. In terms of Police action the context is everything, it is down to the officer on the day whether or not he deems the behaviour— (i)is likely to incite public disorder, or (ii)would be likely to incite public disorder. For the purposes of subsection (1)(b)(ii), behaviour would be likely to incite public disorder if public disorder would be likely to occur but for the fact that— (a)measures are in place to prevent public disorder, or (b)persons likely to be incited to public disorder are not present or are not present in sufficient numbers. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2012/1/section/1/enacted Put round the other way, the fact that the Police are there at a football match to prevent disorder is irrelevant to the successful prosecution of such a charge. Frankly I'm not sure why we're debating TBB now just because LB has her knickers in a twist. The position on TBB is well known and documented as are the provisions of the Act. Any debate has to start from that point.
  22. You appear to be seriously deluded and quite dangerously so in my opinion. Furthermore calling one of the most respected members of this site a liar when you cannot prove your own negative comment also is way out of order in my opinion.
  23. Can I be clear.... you are wrong.
  24. The song "The Billy Boys" was specifically banned when UEFA won an Appeal against their own Disciplinary body in 2006 see #17 and http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/5064472.stm
