After the cup draws this week it shows that without seedings cup competitions are far more interesting. In the English league cup West ham v Chelsea, Liverpool v Spurs and Man Utd v Man City all pulled out in the last 16. Had seedings been in place none of these ties would be 'allowed'. Then the Scottish league cup - and Old Firm Semi final. In the World Cup Qualifiers Holland and France plus Italy and Spain are in the same qualifying groups, it makes out for more interest. Just put all teams in a bowl and draw them out without the seeding nonsense like the Champions league which you need a degree to work out who can play who. Do this always throws up double headers between teams also. Dundee Utd v Morton / Newcastle v Wolves / Swansea v Man City all twice in a few days, that is good for the clubs as responses can effect games after playing a team twice in a few days.

The cup organisers need to bring the final of this competition back to October / November. Absolutely pointless having the semi's in October then a 4 month wait for the final. This tournament had interest until the messed about with it.

Friday night away to Hearts would have been some atmosphere. Edinburgh' finest will be glad of that postponement though. But will probably still be an evening game midweek. As for cup semi - the last four / five in the cup are: Rangers Morton Celtic Aberdeen / St Johnstone Morton would be nice but nobody to fear.
