Former Rangers boss Advocaat ends career in club football
Gribz replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
You have to remember Walter got an awful lot of cash in the 90s also but Advocaat knew what to do with both domestically and in Europe. -
Bit of a self defeatist comment in bold. Not sure why he would need to come out with this prior to the game, admitting he his part responsible wont install much confidence in our club. The above is really why we need to look for better in the summer.

I was kind of hoping he would be a contender for our gaff next season. -
Kris Boyd since returning should be as high up on that list as anyone.

Fan-Fan, Velicka...there will be a lot more. Seb Rozental was very unlucky IMO.

With hindsight he has done his career a wonder of good by going to Hibs for a year then else McCoist would have just ruined him. Sometimes is pays to go and learn your trade elsewhere. I cant see Celtic turning his head if he is a Gers fan....not getting promotion may be the only stumbling block. But Ive seen him for 90 mins just the one time and you can clearly see the talent is there. Bringing him in and Macleod back would be a terrific start to the rebuilding job required.

Walter Smith's way forward for scottish football

Globalisation. It wont be long before MLS sides are applying to have a competition with Champions League sides and I think Premier league matches will eventually go overseas. -
Well done lads. These days we really need some young ones to come through the grade and go on to be first teamers long term. That's why we need to get the right manager appointment with right coaching team. There will be a few regrettable hairdo's in there in the years to come

In reply: 1. There was 41000 at the first leg against Hibs on a weekend, do you think another 9000 will turn up for this midweek match? EDIT - Just seen its a sell out. Plus if it allowed our team to have 4800 behind them in the 2nd leg then its worth it. 2. Point taken but for one off matches almost like a cup final teams always get larger supports.

Ticket situation is a farce again, only games organised by the SPFL would see grounds with huge empty spaces when its obvious the ground could be sold out - a terrible advertisement for the Scottish game as anyone viewing in from out the country will think its crap crowds. We should have given Motherwell 2000 they asked for in return for 4800. I always like to see a healthy away support to make a better atmosphere.

I used to sit up there, on the days I attended without booze Id run up the stairs - great exercise. But you may get a few bruises on the knees afterwards as the leg room is tight. Depending on which section you are in you will get a cracking view of the pitch but if you are further towards the back you cant see much of the rest of the stadium. Ive sat at the byline a few times and you do need to stretch out to see the corner flag at the same side of the pitch. But I certainly enjoyed sitting up there.

That was the real Jeff....When I was in UK last and watched this he has a new hairdo, tanned and an eyebrow lift...whats that all about. I used to love Soccer Saturday though, best way to ease a hangover. I started watching it when it was George Best, Rodney Marsh, Frank McLintock and Charlie Nicholas. Couldn't watch it now if Phil Thompson is on it, his voice breaks glass. Even if he is a hooped Horror I do like Nicholas though.

Hull have been poor upfront all season and Steve Bruce chopping and changing formations hasn't helped. Newcastle ending up finishing above Villa and Sunderland. Certainly hasn't been the greatest premier league season.

Getting paid pittance is better than getting paid nothing.

Ive mentioned his name on here a number of times. I think he would fancy it. Not getting promotion from Derby means Premier League teams will think twice about him plus I don't think there will be too many positions coming up this summer. Newcastle are the only team he is linked with now and why would he go there!
-
Pity. Would have loved to see him back. But if he takes it I think Sunderland will be a better team next season.

Darren McGregor urges SFA to alter "harsh" disciplinary system...
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Im baffled by this one. How can the ban be delayed until second leg of the final anyway? I thought suspensions kicked in straight away. -
Seeing the other post about Helicopter Sunday, that's unreal its 10 years already. I remember the day well, I was in Baku Azerbaijan and found a good bar which had both games on which had around 10 Celtic fans and me being the only Bear. Upon Novo's goal I had a bit of a good celebration but didnt think McDonald would then do that couple of goals....I went utter wild standing on a sofa. That kicked off a 2 day party with another Bear I eventually met.

I think some of the hatred towards McCoist is out of order, Id like to know how many fans would refuse the salary being in his position. Im pretty sure there is a lot of facts that haven't been revealed. His salary was stupid in the beginning and being put on 12 months garden leave was another bad move. Questions to have to asked about him also but unless a fly on the wall reveals everything then I wouldn't get personnel towards Ally. Nobody can deny he will go down as the worst manager we've had, I thought I saw some terrible tactical decisions from Alex McLeish but Ally took it to a new level. He was stubborn and kept this jobs for boys mentality which effected the club and teams performances. In another industry he should have been let go straight away but he has written contracts so the club cant around that.

I just thought they were playing well last season at he had made some good signings this season but just haven't been able to win games. On paper I thought they were going to be around 10th.

Newcastle fans plan to 'occupy' St James' Park after West Ham game
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Newcastle fans were screaming for Pardew to be out early in the season when he was clearly making them punch above their weight, they should have known then it wasn't Pardew to blame. -
Pleased for Advocaat. Sunderland are one of the more boring teams to watch but he has come in and done well. Still cant see how Hull can get out of this, yet I fancied them for a top 10 finish at the start of the season.

Sorry, I picked that one up wrong. I still think a move for McGregor would be good. He along with Alan Hutton were the 2 most improved players that came through Rangers in the last 15 years. First things first though, lets get promotion then look at the squad options.
