  1. You obviously need some ego to make your way as a footballer, after all, youngster will have to replace "veterans" at some point. (I know Craig wil jump in soon but) Kyle Hutton was one of those in days gone by, whose ego got the better of him, laughing and slagging off Bears questioning him and his attitude. Kennedy (as the story goes over on FF) also has some pedigree as a Yahoo, but who knows what happened. QUite a few bits and pieces to be found over there regarding this particular affair. As SG has said, people have to commit to the club - and I don't think he was primarily referring to contract extensions - and all that it stands for and behave accordingly. If their character is off, so they will be sooner or later.
  2. Some whispers that he was on a plane to London today to meet his agent ...
  3. "Luvly" to note the remark by the Premier Sports commentator that Celtic "were awarded the title because they had a 13 point lead" (or to that extend).
  4. For all their multi-million players, Lyon and Nice didn't produce as many clear cut chances as we did. Murphy's should have been in like McCrorie's and Jones', even though perhaps all a bit against the run of play. Very concentrated performance from all the subs, what happened from HT till the 60s minute was IMHO far too similar to the tail end of last season. Like the look of Murphy, very direct and always chasing for second balls and mistakes. Wonder what the future holds for Barjonas and Middleton, unless SG opens his squad rotation up somewhat.
  5. Maybe down to temperature, the front line looked somewhat disjointed from the 20s min onwards. Hagi and Kent oftentimes switch positions, but leave the "wings" barren. Nice work from Aribo to send ent away and the latter's pass to Defoe was good, but for some spells, the pattern looked a bit too similar to our last few games. Obviously, early doors and we look well in control of a game against a lot of Nice's youngsters. Rousseau ... you need "assistance"?
  6. Just in case, the game vs Nice starts at 5.15 BT, i.e. in 25odd mins Squad ... familiar pattern RANGERS: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Jack, Barisic, Edmundson, Defoe, Aribo, Hagi, Kamara, Kent. SUBS: Firth, Bassey, Davis, Murphy, Patterson, Morelos, Jones, Stewart, Docherty, McCrorie, Mayo, Barjonas, Arfield, Middleton. McGregor Tavernier - Goldson - Edmundson - Barasic Jack - Kamara Aribo - Hagi - Kent Defoe
  7. Looked a wee bit like the "swing" he took at Brown who then went into a theatrical dive without contact. Kent knew exactly that he'd done wrong as he immediately went off. Yet, in Covid-19 times that big black chap didn't need to get that personal on him and if anything, should have received a yellow for goading. I would assume we'll see Murphy on the left tonight anyway.
  8. He`s got a contract till 2023, so who knows. Going by McAllister`s interview, the Zungu deal ain`t as close as people make us believe.
  9. Looks like Sheyi Ojo has been released by Liverpool ...
  10. Lot of pressure from Lyon, they sure are a classy side, but in front of goals we held firm. McCrorie and Jones with some great chances to euqal our scoreline from CL days past, but what I saw was most encouraging. Second half MoM IMHO was Kamara.
  11. ... but Lyon are down 2-0!
  12. Clancy, Madden and Co. might learn a bit from that ref. Once we got the goal, the assault we were under lessened somewhat, but that was more ofetn than not one-way traffic. The 2nd goal stole more power from Lyon, but they are quite a threat. I reckon we`ll see a lot of changes at HT, but playing with 10 will be testing.
  13. Lol ... counter attack, Aribo to Barasic and his cross is met by Hagi, who`s shot is deflected in, 2-0 Gers!
  14. Totally against the run of play, nice work at a corner, Kent races down the bye-line and Hagi (?) taps it home. 1-0 after 20 mins.
  15. So we have ... McLaughlin Tavernier - Goldson - Edmundson - Barasic Jack - Davis Aribo - Hagi - Kent Morelos ... and surprises. SUBS: Firth, Bassey, Defoe, Murphy, Patterson, Kamara, Barker, Jones, Stewart, Docherty, McCrorie, Mayo, Barjonas, Arfield, Middleton.
  16. Let's put it this way ... if Sky decides that a British League would fit their bill better than the current formats and they dangle enough monetary incentives in front of the respective FAs and clubs, we'll probably have an Old Firm involvement in "England" sooner rather than later. If you leave it solely to the clubs and national associations, you can de facto and de jure forget it.
  17. Well, strictly speaking I should have used and/or or or, but either two of these three would do. Likewise, Arfield also has his uses in an AM context, against the more physical teams.
  18. I would advocate playing Aribo, Kent and Hagi more centrally, while Murphy, Jones and Stewart are primarily wingers / wing-players (though all can play across the attacking MF line). Who knows what will happen to Middleton and Barker, I would assume both will be loaned to get game time (and suitors)? I long for the day when we play a back-three, a DM in front of them and Aribo, Kent, and Hagi in creative/attacking midfield, Murphy/Jones on one and Stewart on the other wing, plus two strikers. They should be able to destroy much of the lesser sides.
  19. Lots of furore about Zungu, where a deal seems to be close (acc. to French journos). Dorsch has been removed from the list, as he has now signed for Gent.
  20. Well, I used FF ever since I had access to internet and they were up and running. No problems whatsoever for those decades now, but they have a far greater amount of members and admins and some do not handle certain topics like others would. Don't think that makes them better or worse than Gersnet et al, just different. And having 15k members is making administration and well-handling a task I don't envy, at least wehn it comes to a football board.
  21. Nothing we really want to read but ... Lazio is looking at Alfredo ... https://www.itasportpress.it/calciomercato/lazio-caccia-aperta-per-il-vice-immobile-occhi-sul-bomber-dei-rangers/ Roughly ... Alfredo Morelos is the first name on Igli Tare's list to reinforce the technical sector in view of the next championship. The great protagonist of the season in Scotland with the Glasgow Rangers, he managed to score 21 goals in 38 appearances between national competitions and the Europa League. The player is valued by the region of Euro 20 million, and there is no lack of competition across Europe for a footballer who has attracted the attention of many clubs. Lazio and Morelos could row in the same direction for the coming season, if the Biancocelesti manage to win the race and get the strong center forward.
  22. Bulgarian reporter for Eurosport ... Emil Evtimov @EmilEvtimov Strong interest from a lot of European clubs in the Bulgarian international Kristiyan Malinov. His agent talks with Glasgow Rangers, Standard Liege, Mechelen, VVV-Venlo, SBV Vitesse and others.
  23. ... not least when they took Docherty for Kamberi not too long ago.
  24. Wee sidenote from not too long ago: Mark Dingwall wrote about the FF Facebook page: This debate-stirring, while from different angle, has the same feeling.
  25. Everytime I, the "old" East German chap, read this or get it told by "Westerners", I have a wee laugh. People may get taught and told lot a lot about Marxism, but to weigh in or it up with Fascism is beyond joke. I know what they try to refer to, but in this context, it is the polar opposit.
