  1. Actually, it is you who unnecessarily try to break a lance for Tavernier. You seemingly put one error of Polster (who had 9 mins of football last night) under the microscope (Tav had Bailey for 23 mins, BTW), stick to that one game he had last night and try to balance that. A bit strange when I clearly pointed out that Tav has cost us for the best part of 2 seasons AND what I am saying is that I do not regard him as the integral figure for this Rangers side that others think he is. Polster gets a cameo role and a half and gets slaughtered though. Find the error. As for Scottish game and tactics ... each to his own and when you think that the way we play these last two seasons in Scotland with SG's tactics - winning exactly nothing and toiling through games - isn't worthy of debate or criticism, so be it. Pedro got it in the neck big time, yet he had worse players and was virtually a no-name for any of us. A sitting duck. But at the end of the day, so far SG has won us nothing. Let this sink in. It is just a fact and I'm not blind in saying that nothing has changed under him anywhere else bar the pitch. And I sure don't need any lecture about being fickle or don't having any patience. For what I see is that we actually had and have the personnell to raise a challenge, but underuse the squad and likewise do not adapt when things go awry. Or maybe we did adapt and I just failed to notice? Well, I think not.
  2. I`ll watch it back and think about the opposition player and Polster`s "mistake" again. Tavernier does not need 10m wingers to get beaten or caught out of position time and again though. As for the manager, he also fails to adapt to the Scottish game a tactic and line up that does not rely on a talismanic striker to see us through.
  3. The price tag on Morelos`head should remain. Spurs were said to be willing to part with 20odd million for Barasic and if someone wants to pay 5+m for Tavernier, we`d have a nice budget to sign Kamberi and Hagi permanently, and get some quality and hardened people able to win us the Scottish league first and foremost. By now SG should know what is required here and where. The days of fancy folk like Ojo should be behind us now. It gets us till x-mas and then we need guts as much as quality and talent. And some of our current lot have simply been past their sell-by date in terms of that.
  4. Rangers affected as Europa League second legs postponed The Europa and Champions League ties scheduled for next week have been postponed by UEFA. This includes Rangers tie with Leverkusen in Germany. In the light of developments due to the spread of COVID-19 in Europe and related decisions made by different governments, all UEFA club competitions matches scheduled next week are postponed. This includes the remaining UEFA Champions League, Round of 16 second leg matches scheduled on 17 and 18 March 2020; all UEFA Europa League, Round of 16 second leg matches scheduled on 19 March 2020; all UEFA Youth League, quarter-final matches scheduled on 17 and 18 March 2020. Further decisions on when these matches take place will be communicated in due course. As a consequence of the postponements, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League quarter-final draws scheduled for 20 March have also been postponed UEFA yesterday invited representatives of its 55 member associations, together with the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues and a representative of FIFPro, to a videoconference meeting on Tuesday 17 March to discuss European football’s response to the outbreak. 5. Apart from the fact that teams have to play all 38 league games to determine who finishes where according to the SPFL rules, methinks, the valid point remains that while the Premiership seems to be decided, relegation and promotion in all other SPFL leagues are not. You can`t have one rule for one club and different rule for others. And I would assume that all clubs in the 2nd to 4th tier will go bananas if the decide current league standings are final ... while they are only a point or so away from title glory or safety. My suspension idea above was not taken from anywhere, just in opposition to handing anyone titles "just because". Suspend the league for a couple of months (i.e. essentially 2-4 weeks off for the players), get back with 2 games per week after that, scrap the Euros and come up with a decent plan for any UEFA club competitions after that. Why can´t they play "summer football" in Scotland? At least if need be?
  6. The league would be suspended and played at a later date. What they must oppose is any attempts of the Yahoos trying to get a title not yet won.
  7. He was our best midfielder tonight and I couldn't understand why he was hooked instead of Davis or Arfield, who did next to nothing all night bar chasing shadows or giving the ball away needlessly. Aribo tried but shoehorning him into a left- or rightish attacking role that clearly ain't his did not help things. Again, BTW.
  8. There was nothing coming from Tav all night bar that flank ... and there are some who see a player in there that he clearly isn't. Polster cost us the 3rd goal ... yep, of course.
  9. What bothers me most about games like these is that quite a few of our players never reached their of standard, form and level of ability - AGAIN. That was as dire a show from our midfield as we had this year, headless chickens, missplaced passes, completely devoid of quick-thinking, never mind quick passing. And all that taking the standard of opposition into account. So much simply went wrong without an pressure or because people were too hasty in letting someone else have the ball despite having acres of space in front of them and/or the recipient of the ball being covered. Staggering stuff ... in all the wrong ways. If there was one chance where we might have hurt Leverkusen, it was quick counter attacks via slick and precise passing. We had but ONE quick player on the park in Kent, who like the rest of the midfielders has acquired a first touch of an elk in 2020. It got better with Kamberi and Hagi, who were seemingly rested for an Old Firm game of virtually no consequence. I fear that Tavernier, with that one good cross, might have got enough credit to get a start on Sunday ... man, he has been dreadful for ages now and gets in ahead of Polster or even Patterson.
  10. And Mr. Irreplaceable will sure have his bestestest game of the season, no doubt.
  11. ... or hand them a early-summer break, see them back in 6 to 8 weeks and continue the season while scrapping the Euros. Coming to think of that, UEFA won't let this happen ...
  12. Seems like the SNP wants all events above 500 spectators cancelled or postponed, starting on Monday. ? Somewhere from beyond the Clyde, a brown dog barks that Celtic shall be declared Champions if league is cut short.
  13. Was it the same the last two seasons? Somewhat strange, given the effort put in there ... Leverkusen are missing quite a few players tonight, methinks 6 regulars in total, and don't have a recognized striker. Didn't stop them from beating Frankfurt 4-0, yet both teams have fluctuating form levels. Stand tall in defence, be sharp on the counter. A few nifty tackles from the off to set the tone, then do what we are doing best.
  14. Israeli referees and a Portuguese VAR guy. Hope he ain`t no Porto or Braga fan ...
  15. News falling over one another that the ompetition might be suspended due t other side not willing or able to compete. You do wonder whether this will - in due course - end the Premiership season too. And you do wonder whether Scum FC, in their infantile shameless way, will have whipped up enough mhedia frenzy that the SFA/SPFL will award them the title despite 27 points to be gained and the Scum still not out of sight. I guess they would be the only club in Europe demanding the title ...

  17. The Development side lost 2-0, even though seemingly dominating much of the game. Report https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/report-brentford-2-0-rangers/ Rangers: Firth, Flanagan, Maxwell, Breen (King 61), Helander (McClelland, 46), Thomson (Miller, 8), Hastie (McPake, 61), Kennedy, Mebude, Barker, Jones (Young-Coombes, 61). 18. Indeed. One wonders, though, how many people infect others with Influenza each year/season while attending football matches and lead to the deaths of how many hundreds in Britain alone? What clubs could do is advice the high risk group of people (elderly, ill et al) to skip a few games per season, likewise those with such people at home.
  19. Meanwhile, the German Icehockey season has been declared over ... a week before the play-offs, after 52 league games. No postponements, not empty stadiums ...
  20. Well, Barasic on the left acts like a left-winger anyway and whips in dangerous crosses 8 out of 10 times. The problem remains that few are there to convert them. That would mean we could let Barasic move into MF once we have the ball while Polster, Goldson and Edmundson stay back. Likewise, if Polster moves forward, Barasic stays back. And with "back" I don't mean "way back", just covering the backline while e.g. Goldson moves slightly to the right. We sure do not need 2 DMs/CMs though and I was astonished to see Hagi go ahead of either Davis and Kamara - tactical-wise. Our frontline was constantly checked by 1 to 3 players and getting no-where. So in games like these, chuck one DM and put another striker or a more direct player like Jones on.
  21. Dallas isn't worth the right arm of his father.
  22. And for some reason the management has failed to see that he was the one who carried us through many similar games while the rest toiled time and again. Now that he's off form, the whole team toils badly.
  23. With Kamberi and Jones we at least had some runners that caused them trouble. Some terrible crosses and flanks from everyone, though I do not expect wonders from Edmundson. Even the shot from Kent took 2 deflections ... Game Plan A once again failed against the Scottenaccio, I can't for the love of the game understand how every single gaffer from MW onwards have failed to reckognize that. 3 points and next week the Scum at home. That will be "fun".
  24. Dunno what they are talking re the handball, the palyer was keeping his body from hurt of hitting the ground as anyone would do and that erases the handball-rule.
