As much as the English Leagues would appeal, I'm afraid they will not let us. Or UEFA will not let us, or FIFA or whomever has a say. As for the measures being talked about ... utter nonsense. They like to quarter and draw and castrate and torture the witch before it is burned alive at the stake. Any half-sane person looking at this will see that and whatever they may decide, we could challenge it at any relevant court in no-time. But as has been said, should there be a newco, we should start in Division Three and let them rot altogether in the shadow-SPL with a TV-deal that will be even more laughable than it is now. If they actually get one. Coming to think of it, going by the recent hysteria, theywould most likely even try to impose penalties on the newco in Division 3 as well.

Meeting With Administrators - Sat.3/3/2012
der Berliner replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
These people are the only source of genuine information. While they do leave a fair amount of possibilities, it is not exactly the doom-and-gloom end of days scenario we are fed by the media for days. We and any potential buyer should keep a sharp eye on who is amongst the prime offenders with regard to the doom-singing and giving of wrong information. -
Something that just sprang to mind ... given that HMRC wins the case (and we for the time being just accept it), wouldn't it be the supporters' as much as the club's obligation to pay this EBT bill? The reasoning is quite simple: if it is true that we "paid" these players from/via the EBTs and they brought success to the club in one way or another, the "service" as such has been done but not been paid for in full. So while it would hurt now, we would simply pay for the success we had back then. Not ideal and sure not much of a topic if we win the case (and HMRC do not pursue it till the end of days), but methinks we all agree to an extent that we probably walked some sort of a grey-area tightrope. People will sure come and claim that SDM's to blame and should pay up ... but coming from a Germany background were players and staff are usually paid by club membership schemes et al, I think the success we bought back then needs to be paid for. If SDM and cohorts take in part in that, all the better ... and it would sure raise their status amongst the Bears, if only a little.

Which areas? HAring after money of Whyte or the like? I mean, I fully understand the frustration, but law stuff (finding and getting money) takes its time and can't be hurried with a club or the like. Could it be done faster? Maybe? Possibly? Who knows?

The admins are the court's men and if they show any hint of impartiality, they will be jobless in no time. Or so I am told. Admins interview in the Scotsman

2 out of 50k make the headlines. I wait till Double Standards shows us the singsongs at Pittodrie yesterday and what the police did about this.
-
In times of these those with blue blood in their veins come to the fore. And whatever I had to say about their abilities on the park will take a major step backwards and wiped from history by the character shown these last few weeks.
-
I asked this before ... why is March 31st actually important. All across Europe is no certainty which teams actually qualify for Europe next season. So why this necessity? BTW, for all the doom and gloom spouted these last few days - and we may yet see redundancies - the admin actually says that not only does he think we are out of admin before next season, but that there are interested parties with enough substance. Since, I would assume, admins are not in the business of "making feel people better", it looks the road ahead is tricky still, but not exactly ending at any abyss for the time being.
-
Well, I for one can't see some businessman investing these 15m on a 40m club that is sure to get essentially no real income for the next 3 to 5 years, if we are going to start in Division 3 again.
-
Can't see how he's getting that money from anyone though. On a related note, Traynor and Jackson have another exclusive, saying that the admins trying to force Whyte out.

Build My Gallows is now â??likely to be deemed chargeableâ?
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Many songs that are being sung at football grounds have nothing do to with the club. Whether you are "blowing bubbles" or "walk through a storm" or "sing a soldier's song" ... or indeed have your gallow build or wearing "the sash your father wore". Add "simply the best" song to get people started before a game of late, Penny Arcade. What these songs do is create atmosphere and a feeling of togetherness, these days much less so in terms of what is actually being sung, but by actually singing a song together. If we'd find great football songs that has the same rousing effect as The Sash or BMG has, or TBB and Here lies a Soldier had, all the better. The problem is that unless it is done by the tannoy folk at each home game, you will hardly get it started by the masses. would be one simple song that could be easily brought in. Another one would be Proud Legions ... and that is around since three decades now, but hasn't made it onto the terraces. Proud Legions (Tune: ) Proud Legions of Rangers, on us you can rely, To grounds all over Europe we'll fly the blue flag high. We'll follow as our fathers had, in bygone days of yore, on every field that Rangers play you'll hear the legions roar: Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers, on us you can rely! We follow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers until the day we die! Young men in light blue jerseys, of how we wear the crest, the badge of Glasgow Rangers, stands high upon their chest. We'll beat the cream of Europe, just as we did before, To bring the cup to Ibrox and hear the legions roar: Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers, on us you can rely! We follow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers until the day we die! Ready - Sporting Lisbon, Italia's Torino, Famed Germany's Bayern Munich, then Moscow Dynamo, unclassed by skills of Rangers, we'd followed thousand strong, to cheer the Glasgow Rangers on and then to sing our song: Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers, we'll keep the blue flag high, We follow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers until the day we die! We follow Rangers as our fathers had, In bygone days of yore, We follow Rangers, we follow Rangers, You'll hear the legions roar. Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers, On us you can rely! Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Rangers, We'll follow till we die, We'll follow till we die ...! -
One thing that continues to baffle me is why he would be out to put (as is being projected all over the place) our club into liquidation? Yes, we would be rid of HMRCs cases and claims. Yes, we would be rid of the 18m debt or the Ticketus deal. BUT ... the club would most likely start in the 3rd tier of Scottish football*. That means at least 4 seasons out of Europe (no income from that direction), gate receipts will most likely drop as attendance figures will go down by the tens of thousands (maybe not instantly, but I reckon the attendence when Rangers maul a 2nd division side for the 20th time a season will not top 20k), TV income will be ridiculously low, investment from other companies too. So who would by this football club from him or who expect that he will invest any sort of money into such a team. Likewise, he could just take his money and invest in Clyde FC for the next 4 years. On a sidenote, would there be any people willing to actually buy Ibrox ( listed place, unless I am mistaken), Murray Park et al? This doesn't match up. *Going by standard procedures and the open hatred the scum continuously show (stripping of titles, 15-point deductions for years to come et al), we most likely won't be reinstated into the SPL instantly. That SPL TV deals are being ripped up and other income from fans going to the various stadiums all over Scotland will cease does not interest them. They want to see us going down into the abyss much more than realizing that they and the rest of the SPL will follow suit.

Of course, going by recent remarks about "Build my gallows" possibly being deemed offensive or "unwanted", you see again where the wind is blowing from. Singing up "against the IRA" is being deemed illegal? What next? Speaking up against ETA or the Taliban too? Just a general remark. There is IMHO no need to sing loyalist or similar songs at football games. But if such policies are pursued, it should be even handed. Can you imagine the HHs will be reqeusted to stop their Soldier's Song or will stop BotOB?

Rangers squad reject request to play rest of season without pay
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Well, I was merely touching the "descent" stuff as such, not commenting on any racial issues. Same direction, different tracks. -
I'd assume that the "liquidation stuff" is being whipped up by the HHs, by assuming that the administrator's "deadline" for people coming forward (March 16th) is when the curtain will fall. A neat assumption, but no more than that. Whereas above, the admins say that if some money raising is being made, it should be done when it is clear where the money is going, by whom it will be distributed, and to which sensible end. Going by the responses to the various fan initiatives, they clearly see that there is a will to pay to save the club.

McCoist up front would be a cracker, but I think it was McGregor who is the current player mentioned.

Yes, born in Fontana / California. As I said, he's probably as much a Nigerian as Mesut Ã?zil is a Turk. -

How about taking up that appointment with this bed of yours? Hm ... he's probably as much Nigerian as Mezut Ã?zil is a Turk, but anyways ... * Place of birth: Fontana, California, United States -
Player and staff redundancies expected on Friday
der Berliner replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Ain't it a touch strange that on the one hand they are "happily" debating cutting the costs and sending players away ... and postponing this decision, while on the other people start assuming that on this or that day we will be liquidated? When in another report they are securing 3.6m from a bank account of Whyte's lawyers and chasing another 5m? All this conflicts time and again. And while I am at it, we have no news about the big case's result (you wonder why it takes that long), and even if HMRC's stand was rather rigid before: by seeing us liquidated, wouldn't they lose all of their recent 9m claim plus the bill from both tax cases? That surely cannot be in their interest, nor Ticketus? Add to that that despite what the Hooped Horrors may claim, the whole of the SPL would suffer if we "drop" out, since TV deals would be ripped up, gate receipts drop et al? ANd unless we are instantly re-instated into the SPL, to which you-know-who would object to (since they have some championships to catch up, want us stripped of titles and be charged with 15-point deductions for some years), this would continue for some years to come. While solely from a financial point of view and some of the facts we have, liquidation appears to be the abyss looming on the horizon, can those involved really risk it? -
I reply with a quote from above: In discussions with the administrators the Rangers Supporters Assembly has been give this advice If someone could start a share issue, I am pretty sure the money would be provided by either rich people, many not so rich people, or both.
-
On a sidenote, people on FF have seemingly heard word that liquidation might come up on either March 16 or 23 (one being St. Patrick's Day, btw), unless someone proves to have the funds required. All just well-informed hearsay, of course. Would be somewhat strange, since the 8 weeks period has not been finished, no real results have been published and we are still selling tickets for the Milan game. But there you go.
-
.. methinks they know that their deal with Whyte might be illegal under Scottish Law and the administrators may simply send them packing without seeing a penny of their 20odd million. Hence they work out a solution that sees the club remain intact. Just MHO.

Rangers squad reject request to play rest of season without pay
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It is probably too early in the morning, but Aluko aside, whom do you mean? -
Again, how do they know what the figures are and whether the admins "fear" that it drags on for another week?
-
Says who? You do wonder where people get their information from, when you would assume that the administrators do not leaking them all over the place.
