  1. It's debatable who provoked who. If I'd genuinely wished someone good luck and they told me to f**k off, I'd say that's where the provocation started.

Now, I've no way of knowing whether that's the way it happened in reality, but I understand that's what Erwin said and to be honest, given Moshni's record of impetuosity and stupidity, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was true.

Well done to McCulloch and the Gers fans for keeping their heads when all around were losing theirs though.

  2. I've got a ticket for the Club Deck...in all my years I've never been up there.

What's it like regarding access to there? I'm getting on in years and smoke fags like most guys pull out their mobile. Is it stairs only?

Got to admit I'm looking forward to the journey 'puff puff' :smokin:

    Are they 'comfy' seats? :)

The exercise will do you good. [emoji123]

However, there's a lift for the deserving cases...

  3. IMHO, he worked his socks off yesterday GS.

He's one of a tiny handful of players in the team with any creativity and I'd take him in a heartbeat in midfield or as a 10 behind a lone striker. Granted he's probably more effective in the latter role though.

  4. I know that BH was disappointed and a little embarrassed about the final numbers, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative evening, as I think did all those who attended. Thanks and well done BH - it's far from easy to arrange these events at the best of times, but you did a sterling job in trying circumstances.

It was good to see some old faces again and to meet Simply the Best for the first time. Unlike certain ex-directors, he didn't turn up with any minders and he took the gentle ribbing about Charles Green in good humour. Top man.

The quality of food and service was excellent too. I'll admit I was a bit concerned beforehand about exactly what we'd get for £10 over 3 courses, but it was simply outstanding value.

We do seem to make life tough for our guest speakers though. This time, The Rangers Historian (who was excellent), had to put up with the noise of what sounded like a Hoover during his talk, but I suppose that's better than having to dodge the contents of an audience member's stomach...

So, those who didn't turn up missed out big style. Hopefully we can do it all again near Christmas with a bigger attendance and more certainty around dates in advance. I'd certainly go back to the venue again.

  5. Not a great day all round yesterday!

I received a text from the wife just as the second half got underway saying that she'd "had a wee bump just outside Braehead"....it was either a miraculous birth or she'd pranged my car. Fortunately it was the latter and I had to leave the ground and grab a taxi over to the scene.

No injuries, just a bit of twisted metal and one tearful wife. By the time I got the car recovered and sorted a hire car for this week it was nearly 7pm and I went straight home, poured myself a large one and called it day. Thanks to BH for his concern and for organising the event, sounds like it was another good one.

Glad to hear she's ok mate.

  6. Fair point MB but the problem is that if we finish second we will be away on that date.

What we could do then is if we set on the 16th and it happens that we do finish second, we could hold the dinner on the Sunday if the game is on the Saturday and vice versa?

Either that or we come (back) to Glasgow for the dinner with a slightly later start on the Saturday?

  7. comes across as emptying the reserves to make progress as difficult as possible for the new board. Give it a month or two and i bet they reappear on the horizon as whyte knights ready to replace the new blundering board after weeks of anti board rhetoric from the usual places.

Whatever they were up to, I can't imagine it was good news for Rangers, given the timing and the sense of urgency / frustration they gave Colin.

I don't think even my worst nightmares would feature a return of the previous Board though.

  8. Cathro with Magath in an upstairs role is a decent shout, though I don't see us going for a 28 year old. After our last two 'managers' going with a manager with experience may be better option. Billy Davies or Derek McInnes are probably the best of the other names I've seen suggested. I'm not keen on McCall, he did very poorly in England (though so did McInnes in fairness).

Quite a bit of support for Cathro out there (rightly in my view), but King didn't sound all that wild about a DoF role. Magath or McCall would be good interim appointments until the end of the season, if the previous management team are now easier to deal with and a settlement can be reached.

  9. Yesterday was a very good day.

Started a new job, which means I'll be able to make mid week games for the first time in a while; came into a little bit of money which means I can afford to up my subscriptions to RF / BR; but most importantly of all, I saw my beloved Rangers returned to the leadership of people who are motivated by the Club's interests, rather than their own.

It's great that in our own small way, the good folk of Gersnet contributed to yesterday's EGM result. We can allow ourselves a short celebration (and my head tells me I celebrated too long), but the real work starts now.

For ordinary fans that means filling Ibrox for the remainder of this season, whether or not performances and results improve. I really hope we all retain the current optimism when we hit the inevitable bumps in the road ahead. I don't think it's going to be an easy ride, but at least we're heading in the right direction.

  10. We've not played to his strengths (few quality balls in from wide areas), but he has been dire.

A lack of genuine pace is a killer for a modern frontman and he has none. Nor does he have great trickery to compensate. Pretty much his only attribute was a knack of being in the right place at the right time and being clinical when the chances game. Without that, he's done.

  11. One thing I hope to see when(not if) John Gilligan joins the board is that he takes the fight to these individuals and organisations who see fit to go after Rangers at every opportunity whilst turning a blind eye to others. At almost every Celt@c game there are banned songs but who highlights them and what is done?

I don't have a problem with challenging other people's unacceptable behaviour Rab, but I'd rather we put our own house in order first.

Then we can move the debate onto how ludicrous it is to try and claim the morale high-ground while using dehumanising language like orcs, zombies, monkeys etc, never mind the genuinely sectarian stuff sang elsewhere.

  12. If the fans are now serious about ownership of / influence over the Club, then we need to accept the responsibility that brings with it.

This is something I'd like to see the RST / Union of Fans, or even the Rangers Fan Board, address.

We had very little sectarian chanting in the lower leagues, although I was at Berwick, when we once again did it on national TV. So why is it happening again now?

I can understand the Celtic match stirring the emotions and folk getting carried away, especially with all the taunting ("your Club died / zombies / orcs / monkeys / Remembrance Day mocking"), the deflection (claiming "Huns" isn't sectarian but "******" is / IRA songs are only "political") and the fact that we do seem to be spotlighted for special attention, but we're just doing our detractors work for them.

If we can be so easily goaded into self harm, then everyone will be lining up to have a poke at us and it'll probably end up with real damage being done to the Club. Would any of these numbskulls fancy missing out on a playoff spot this season due to a points deduction?

I think the only answer is for the fans groups to get together and say 1) these are the songs that will cause us grief - don't sing them 2) here are the original / alternative words that will allow us to retain some of those songs, without leaving yourself or the Club open to punishment.
