Up to £675.
So we've got enough pledges for a Club 1872 membership from RF and we're now only £50 short of being able to take out an RST life membership plus 1 community share (£100 + £125).
Any Gersnetters only wanting to donate to BuyRangers are welcome to state their preference and do so. I'd like to match the £500 for RF if possible.

I'll contribute
Thanks Greg. Got your PM.

Don't see the point in this. Either they have to accept it or they don't. If they don't have to then a petition is meaningless.
I guess it's just emphasising to the NOMAD that their actions will be under minute scrutiny.
Might make them pause for thought before making any "unusual" interpretations of the rules.

Up to £540 now.

Sorry it has been changed. I said that because most people don't realise they can change the title themselves.
Many thanks Pete.

You can change the title yourself in the go advanced section. i will also be donating although I will need to find out how at the moment.
Thanks, but I was struggling to do that via Tapatalk app on my phone and I'll need to reset my password to login via my desktop which I never use for Gersnet (the security question is "who is the current Rangers manager" lol).
I'll give it another go later, but if anyone else can do it easily that would be appreciated.

Could admin help me amend the title of the thread by adding "and RST/BuyRangers"?

We're now at £530; a fantastic response in just a few hours.
That means that the RF life membership WILL go ahead.
Life memberships for BOTH RF and BR would cost a minimum of £725 assuming we buy 1 community share.
Each additional BR community share would be a further £125 on top.
If anyone wants to support a particular vehicle, then please include that in your PM to me and I'll ensure that your wishes are respected and your funds only go to that organisation.
If we can reach £1000, then we can ensure that both groups get an identical sum, so there's our new target!

I'll pledge £10. How do I pay via paypal
Thanks Gisabeer.
We're just taking pledges at the moment and working out the logistics of how best to gather the funds.
Could you PM me with your pledge so that I can keep them all in the same place? Cheers.
The good news is that we're already at £505, so it looks like it's going to happen!

Distracted already. £395.

Tbh I think the amount will be reached by the end of the day.
Now £295. Step up and play ladies and gents.
I've got to do some paid work now, so will update later.

I'll do both.
Thanks SBS. To assist with gauging interest, could you PM me with an indication of what figure you have in mind? Thanks.

What you are saying is not correct re Buy Rangers. A group can join as a member and purchasr Community Shares. I just signed up the Denny and District RSC at the weekend. They bought a life membership and ten Community Shares.
I wasn't aware of that PLG, apologies.
I don't really want to reopen the whole RF vs BR can of worms, but if there's enough demand, we could look at doing both.
How much is a life membership and the minimum number of community shares?

To be honest the whole thing seems like a mess.
Already the club are ignoring it.
Wryly amused that no response has been received from the Club on the RFB's proposals for improved communication...

£120 and counting...

Paypal would also be a pretty convenient method for transfer the cash (despite the slightly dodgy sounding name... )
Thanks, we'll look at that. The recipient of a small PayPal payment has to pay a fee of c3%, so it wouldn't be my first choice, but it's an option.

I'm unhappy with giving too much of my information online so I would prefer to pay by cheque.
Understand the concerns.
I'll speak to Bluedell, but I'm sure the preference would be for him to provide a sort-code and account number by private message, allowing folk to make a direct transfer by telephone banking, Internet banking or via a branch. We've done that a couple of times for the Gersnet dinner and it worked well.
If we can find a method that works for you, did you have a figure in mind?

Three early bird Bears have pledged £75 so far.

Not interested.
I fully support the concept of fan ownership but I do not support - and will not support - RF.
I support the RST and its BuyRangers scheme.
Not a problem Hildy.

Getting 50 on here might be a tall order mate.
Possibly. I don't want to set the bar too high in terms of a minimum amount, but anything less than £10 is probably too much hassle to collect.
If folk can / want to give more, then great (say 20 x £25).

Signed. Can't do any harm.

All the best Pete and a belated Happy Birthday.

A few months ago rbr suggested that likeminded Gersnet members could donate towards a lifetime membership of Rangers First. There was reasonable level of interest at the time, but for whatever reason it didn't translate into action.
A lot has happened since then in the struggle for control of Rangers and the recent requisition for an EGM has galvanised supporter opinion, leading to large numbers of new sign-ups for both RangersFirst and the RST's BuyRangers scheme.
The Gers Forum were among those signing up this week, having raised £1000 in 24 hours to buy 2 Rangers First Lifetime Memberships (these are available to groups, whereas BuyRangers requires an individual membership).
I'd like to organise a similar effort on Gersnet if there is enough interest.
I'm aware that many of us already support RF and/or BuyRangers, while others do not share my enthusiasm for fan ownership. It's also January, so not everyone will have spare cash to donate at this time of year. However, a potentially close vote at the forthcoming EGM will be sufficient incentive for many Gersnetters.
A RangersFirst Club 1872 membership costs £500, so if we can get 50 interested Bears together @ £10 each, we can make it happen. If you want to donate more than that, then great.
So, my suggestion is this:
1. PM me with your forum name and the amount you'd be willing to commit to as a one off donation.
2. I'll keep a tally of the total. As and when we reach £500, I'll pass everyone's details to Bluedell, who has very kindly offered to help collect the funds.
3. Bluedell can then provide you with details (also via PM) of how he plans to collect the funds and once the full £500 has been received, we'll purchase a Lifetime Membership in the name of Gersnet. Any excess funds received will be donated to RF.
4. As RF operates a one-member-one-vote decision making process, the easiest option would be to hold a brief poll of members prior to any future RF votes. Obviously, such polls are open to members and visitors alike, but for one vote among thousands, it wouldn't be worth creating a more complicated process.
If anyone has spotted a fatal flaw in the process, or has any suggestions which would make it easier, please let me know.
Finally, I'd just like to make it clear that there's absolutely no compulsion to take part, but it's up to those who do to look into the details of RF if they are not already familiar with it.
Cheers.

It wasn't Gersnet buying I'm afraid [emoji6].
