  1. another Warburton target. Obviously not a player for the sake of it. Just move onto the next player on mw list
  2. the best way of answering St J would be to sign another target and leave them holding an unsettled player coming towards the end of his contract. They seem desperate why else would they continue running to the media every other day trying to force our hand
  3. fair enough we shouldnt have gave them away so cheaply but at least we brought through talent that others rate so highly. Big pat on the back for rangers academy
  4. It's starting to look like we don't have any money. If that is indeed the case then the club needs to explain why we didn't take the RF money.
  5. We could all go round and round on this.personally I think the league will go to the wire. For me that's not a good proposition or level to still be at 2 windows in.
  6. No faith in miller and clark leading our strike force if waghorn gets injured neither do I trust aird to replace an injured tav. With forester in and oduwa out I see the square as weaker. I think we moved on oduwa thinking we would have cover on the right through ohalleron. Wish we would stop referring to our poor form as a dip it lasted longer than our great play. Hopefully it is a thing of the past and we can kick on and win the league with some style.
  7. A players value is not based on what you can afford or want to pay. A whole list of circumstances are also involved. Our bids are way below value. Personally i dont think its possible MW could be estimating there value so far below what is realistic prices. Our transfer strategy has been clearly shown in the Allan bids, O'halleron and diagouraga. We also offered the same amounts for Waghorn and Tav with the only difference being they were deemed surplus to requirments and their parent club wanted to sell lowering their value. We have seen delays in the o'halleron bids and in diagouraga obviously. The manager has also clearly stated we have more than one target and when one is ruled out we move onto the next. That has not happened as can be evidenced by no action. He clearly said he wanted those targets in early and doesn't like to wait until the end of the window. We have offered £150k and £200k for Ohalleron and offered 100k for Diagouraga which we then through negotiation where going to raise to around £500k but never actually put the bid in. Brentford wanted £500k plus add ons. I am sure those on here with contacts in the club can double check that if they haven't already Its not fiscal responsibility to go after players you cannot afford. There was never any chance of securing those players at those prices. Is it fiscal responsibility to walk into a ferrari garage and offer £10k for a £100k car just because that is what you want to pay? Personally i don't think that is. I would turn the fiscal argument back onto you and say is it fiscally responsible to not get promoted this year? Again I will repeat I don't think for a second that is the valuations MW put on these players as they are so far removed from reality it seems at odds that such an intelligent man would deem that as appropriate way to conduct ourselves. There seems to be a mistaken idea that what you want to pay sets a players value. It doesn't. Would it make sense or be fiscally responsible for Man Utd to offer £10m for Bale? As for the squad personally I think it is poor. We have stopped building and in my mind have got weaker this window not stronger. Promotion is within our hands but it is not even close to being absolute. We are gambling with injuries in several positions. The cover we have as far as i am concerned in some cases doesnt exist and in other positions is inadequate. I would say that is fiscally irresponsible, the consequences of failing to get promotion this year far out weigh any detriment transfers would make
  8. again you say spend over the odds with absolutely nothing to back that up. Where has any of our targets went for over the odds? Name one target that has sold for a value that seems inflated.
  9. I agree diagouraga is not of the standard i would hope for. My upset comes from the way we are missing players our manager wants and every deal we do seems to include delays and stupid low ball bids that in no way help our position. They do nothing but piss off the team we are buying from and giving an opening to any other interested party to nip in and steal the player. For me this window is every bit as important as the next one. We need at least 8 players between the two windows. I don't think there is a hope in hell of us doing that kind of business next summer.Missing out on this window with have a knock on effect. That's also not to mention the fact this league is far from done yet. Without a couple of bodies in we are very short in my opinion and are going to need some luck with injuries to see us through. In my opinion if our current strategy of negotiating a price then raising the money continues we will see our targets go to other teams more often than not. As for defiance I have seen nothing or heard no excuse that merits any level of defiance. None of the excuses have held any water when held up to the light. I certainly dont believe for a second MW expects to get Ohalleron or diagouraga for £200k a piece.
  10. The F.T.P Association obviously standing for the "From The Pavement" association  The R.T.I.D B.E.A.R - bears eager and ready
  11. we know that nobody for these two positions that MW has obviously decided needs filling has came in in the time frame the manager wanted. We know that even though he stated two players would be in shortly nothing materialised. Personally I think MW is a shrewd guy and there is no chance he is daft enough to encourage the level of bids we have made with any real expectation they would be successful. He will cover for the board but i would put money on the fact he has made his feelings clear behind closed doors. Pretty much every excuse under the sun has been brought out now to explain away what's happened, personally i don't get the fear of looking at ourselves and the way we operate. The needing to negotiate then go to the board for money which all takes time is a far more likely reason for us missing out on targets than 90% of the excuses being mentioned.
  12. Of course it has to match the other teams value! if it doesn't we will never reach agreement or secure our targets. Why would anybody in their right mind only go after targets that are 2 to 3 times out with their price range! I honestly cant believe you think that is our transfer policy! Would love to hear that meeting where MW explains to the board he would like us to go after 2 players but only offer a third of their parent clubs value! So you believe MW said to the board get me Diagouraga for £200k! Explain these valuations and how they could possibly belong in reality? There is no chance the reason we lost out on diagouraga is because MW thought he was only worth £200k and Ohalleron could be got for £150-£200k
  13. Yes he has spoken to me about it.its what you call press releases, he does a couple a week you should check them out. He said clearly he wanted players in early and that he would move on quickly if a players value is above our own . That has clearly not happened or have you not noticed the date?
  14. so do you think falkirk could hold down a top six position?
  15. Dont believe it for a second. No quote from the police about this alleged case. Is the jurno that clown Greenslade?
  16. So why did it take 23 days to figure out we couldn't afford the guy? Would you not use a scatter gun approach if that was the case? why would you put all your eggs in one precarious basket? makes no sense if you realistically cant afford your number one target for a certain position to then only make an approach for that out of reach player and no other at the same time in a small window of opportunity.
  17. its a bit of a weird one! agreed personal terms but not a deal with St J
  18. If we had offered fair market value leeds would not have had the chance to offer a better wage. Our transfer strategy led to losing out and in my opinion only leaves you with the players other teams don't want. Every transfer we go for ends up in the media due to the interest in our club, if we continue to take so long then we will lose far more than we win. That is not a consequence of our financial position that is a consequence of not being prepared. If we don't have the necessary funds to pay market price then we should not be bidding on players we have no chance in affording. Must say i don't think the money(value) is the problem. If we don't have the money then knocking back the £500k from RF would have been an act of sheer stupidity and ego that puts our managers happiness and the position of the club as second.
  19. I don't think there is any sense to the belief MW would think a regular for a championship side could be bought for less than £400k That was still under contract with the selling team in no rush to get rid. I also dont think it would take 23 days to figure out the player was out with our valuation. I also don't think MW would have anything to do with valuations since we do not have a transfer budget for him to stick to. Time and again the board have told us MW identifies the targets and they deal with getting the players in. Too many think MW goes to the board and says here's the guy I want but don't spend a penny more than £400k on him. I just don't think that is realistic. The valuation placed on diagouraga was known pretty much from the start so why would we then wait two weeks without moving onto our next target? It makes no sense for the value to be the issue. We wouldn't have waited 2 weeks and done nothing. I also doubt very much that MW looked at the Scottish market and the position ST J are in and thought he could get their best player for £150k-£200k especially after he as just watched a championship player go for double that in Allan, that would suggest he has no idea what he is doing and I certainly don't think that is the case. Again if the valuation is the problem we would have moved on and pursued other targets. MW has stated clearly he didn't want to wait until the end of the window, the fact we have done so shows there is a problem that was not readily identified and fixed. I imagine the fee associated with targets would be pretty quickly understood it wouldn't account for the hold up on more than one player.
  20. Over the odds by how much £100k? That's some exact estimating of a players value we must be doing never mind the fact we are assuming MW didn't value the players higher. So in one hand MW is fantastic at spotting talent and getting them to reach their potential and in the other hand he cant get a players value to grow by margin greater than £100k! I think we should just leave it now the excuse holds no weight the same as constantly blaming the other party as each transfer. Our job is to secure our targets that will help us achieve the big picture not be left holding the bag for the sake of £100k. I think the fault lies in the way we deal with transfers you think its the players value thats the stumbling block.
  21. Sorry didn't realise MW had told you his valuation of the players. What value did he place on them? You can accuse me of being negative all you want that's not how I see it. I am just evaluating the facts as presented. You are more than welcome to make excuses that suit your wanted outcome but please don't have a go at me for not following suit and accepting excuses that hold no water.
  22. What? who else is to blame if we don't secure our targets? what player didn't want to sign? No player has had the chance because we cant meet their clubs valuation. In the case of diagouraga Brentford were obviously correct with their valuation since they have received the fee they wanted. We undervalued his worth in the market. As said on another post if you think MW deems a player no longer of value because of such a small figure then we should never have been interested in the first place. Why would we buy players at a price we dont think we can raise by £200k. So far we have missed our main targets and signed two players on short term contracts that obviously shows we are not sure about their merits. Not sure how you class that as a good omen for the future or smart practice.
  23. but its clearly not over the odds since Leeds just paid more.
  24. Do you really think figures of £100k to £200k deem a target no longer of sufficient value over the length of their contract? Why would we sign a player if we thought he couldn't bring more value than £200k above our initial valuation? That and MW would need to have no sense of reality if he thought we could get diagouraga and O'halleron for less than £200k a piece. He is too intelligent to not be able to add the circumstances up. Personally i wouldn't pay the money for either but to think MW would expect to sign those players for 200k or less a piece seems unlikely to me. If we were talking in the millions here or Half million then fair enough but a couple of hundred grand cannot deem a player we previously thought good enough to build our future on no longer of value. Promotion alone will raise those players valuations by that small of an amount
  25. Don't understand what the problems delaying our transfers can be. If it was money then surely they would have accepted the loan from RF. Can't see how £100k-£200k would seriously negate a players value. There's only so many times you can point the finger at the selling club before it rings hollow.
