  1. We went into financial melt down because in the Murray era we twice hit financial catastrophe due to spending money we didn't have. Do you remember when the bank ended up running the club? how pathetic was that?
  2. That was a very fluky European campaign that involved very poor Inter and Porto teams. The side we had that season was horrific and it showed in our SPL performance. It is a miracle we beat Porto with the following team though it did involve one of the few great Barry Ferguson performances in his second stint: Waterreus Ricksen Rodriguez Kyrgiakos Bernard Namouchi Ferguson Murray Lovenkrands Prso Jeffers 6 of the above players were horrendous.
  3. In the first 18 months with DA's players. After that when we were put out by Viktoria Zizkov, beaten about 10 times on the trot by MON and finishing third place in a 2 team league...not so much.
  4. Not a fan of Bayern either. I like Schweinsteiger and Robben but they are a corporate whore that outspend Dortmund by multiple times. Dortmund are a terrific club.
  5. Please elaborate +1 on being a GOT fan. Though the books are much better
  6. Incidentally, Chelsea are currently playing Man City again in another US friendly. Put on ESPN channel 417 for a laugh. The pitch is absolutely tiny! 2-0 man City now . the corporate nature of the BPL is utterly pathetic. Both sides are playing fairly strong teams.
  7. This is an old article but it is actually gathering momentum: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-jose-mourinho-wants-former-1873003
  8. In Eck's later years we played turgid, negative long ball stuff. We signed a lot of dire players that were barely fit to play in Scotland at any level. He had a habit of playing strikers out of position eg Arveladze (played wide left a lot then went to Holland and finished as top goal scorer playing as a striker), Thompson, Prso etc. It's possibly the Scottish approach to football but IMO they are basically exactly the same.
  9. But his fraudster conviction isn't PS - I highly doubt that the drug dealing accusations levelled at these crooks have been dreamed up. But hey ho, they are Rangers men so lets go for another round of being run into the ground by another crook
  10. Nothing to see here! I utterly despair about some of our support at times.
  11. And in 8 years we could potentially be doing pretty damn well too. The problem is we need a strategic plan with the correct infrastructure implemented and this would require radical change of the entire board, management team, coaches, scouting and players. I don't think it is necessarily overly complex, you simply just need to start focusing on playing football the correct way with a focus on cheap, young talent and youth development.
  12. Also, regarding the elite teams, if they have billionaire owners then Platini's Ferrari ideology falls apart? Chelsea for example have an owner that can easily afford all their players as well as service the debt (the vast majority of which is due to him anyway). So how does it work?
  13. I hope Dortmund can keep Lewandowski and add to their team. They're a terrific club and have a fantastic manager. Excellent fans and play football the way it should be played. They're in a bit of an unfortunate position because they have much less resources than Bayern who can basically cherry pick the players they want.
  14. Looks like I predicted the score right and the goalscorer, only Robben didn't score first .
  15. The teams I'd really like to see get hit are the mediocre Premiership clubs who pay insanely high wages for average players and are just happy to survive achieving nothing. I'm sure Fulham pay something like double the wages that Dortmund do, yet have barely a 10th of the quality. Also, West Ham should not be capable of spending £15m on a donkey like Andy Carroll. The mind boggles.
  16. We are playing in lower league football and have just been through administration and liquidation. What does 'we are Rangers' mean? Because we have a history of paying over the odds for mediocrity eg £20k + a week on Whittaker. I think paying £7m a year to trudge through the fourth tier in Scottish football was slightly excessive. It's not as if or all the money we pay we are awash with talent. We went bankrupt for spending too much, surely you can understand some people being worried when we are spending huge to beat part time opposition. The resources should be spent on scouting and youth development, not mediocre hammer throwers in their 30's like Daly.
  17. I spoke a bit too soon about there not being 3 goals in this eh?
