I would like to see Devine over Tavernier for a few games: Tavernier needs the rest and I'd like to see Devine on his proper side. I agree that Barisic is still the number one. I just feel it's time to replace him; not righ this moment, but going into the next season, I'd like to see someone else pushing him. I don't think it's a matter of opinion at all. Not only have they (Devine and Yilmaz) looked more willing to run and beat a man - albeit in few games - it's been clear since he signed that Barisic is a bit more one-dimensional; he likes to cross that ball. That's just their games. That's not a comment on their quality. It was indeed a significant fee.

£3.5m going up to £5m with add-ons, was it not? If your point is we've spent too much in that area, fair enough. That's a matter of opinion. I wouldn't disagree with you. We still had to strengthen LB after losing Bassey.

I don't disagree. I just feel he's not as dynamic as I'd like from a FB; both Devine and Yilmaz look more dynamic in the little they've played.

LB was an area we absolutely had to strengthen. We only had an out-of-form Barisic. Devine is playing out of position, remember.

For me it's because he's an average defender and his offensive output mainly consists of crosses. He's not the most dynamic. I agree he is a confidence player, and his crosses can be top class. At 30, though, I'd like to see us move on from depending on him.

Absolutely. But, Barisic is a little more one-dimensional. I'd actually prefer to see Devine get a run of games over Barisic, though.

No hype. It's just that he's a very offensive player that could be useful in MB's system which uses offensive FBs.

I'm looking forward to seeing Yilmaz at LB in this set-up.

This. Jordan Campbell in The Athletic noticed that Jack dropped deep to make a situational back-three, which allowed us to play around their front two, and freed up our FBs. I think we were a little more aggressive in pressing too, which allowed us to prevent them from playing those long balls, protecting our fragile defence.

He's also know as 'Beni'. The club will swiftly knock that out of him...

Good point. I was moaning at Lundstram for losing his man, and Tavernier and Tillman for not contesting when it was in their zone. The ball went almost into the 6-yard box. A 'keeper should be collecting that.
