I don't think he was expected to start - he only got a run because Raskin was injured - Clement said as much. He's picked up a few number of votes in our MotM threads, so he's been a good purchase for most. @compo wants to make him captain!

Managers that switch like that cannot compete against those that have a well-drilled philosophy. There's also a difference between tactics and philosophy. Most modern managers will have a recognisable philosophy, but that doesn't mean they don't adapt tactically.

I still think we'll be working with a one out, one in policy.

It must be because they're not good enough. I've always been a fan of scrapping the academy and going full B team (like Brentford did): use our relative financial muscle and hoover up all the young talent in Scotland, and those that are not quite making it at elite sides. For this to work we'd need to allow the b team to play in the pyramid like every other top footballing nation.

I did say we need cover.

We need cover in defence because of injuries, but we're decent defensively, so I still think our priority should be wingers and forwards.
